AAR playing for free on 12/5 in NYC. You can get tickets for free right now on ticketmaster! I just printed out 3 free tickets for the show and could not be more excited seeing as how I skipped out on their last tour because it was too expensive
http://www.ticketmaster.com/event/0000417AADB76497?artistid=861947&majorcatid=10001&minorcatid=60
You should probably get the tickets ASAP since it's free it'll be out relatively fast so get on it!

It will end pretty early then, considering the doors are at 6:30, unless they are making us wait 3 hours for them to hit the stage.

there probably aren't any opening acts (which is a reallly good thing), but does anyone know if this show is 1st come 1st serve? or does buying a ticket off ticketmaster guarantee entry?

I am pretty sure buying a ticket off ticketmaster guarantees entry to the show.

I have absolutely no idea. I first did the thing where you were supposed to send an e-mail, but no one got back to me. Then I joined AAR's mobile street team or something, & got a text that's suppose to get me in. I also have the ticketmaster ticket, and I won laminates from the contest here. So I'm hopefully pretty much guaranteed entry, I guess.

the thing is, AAR was getting tickets out there a bunch of other ways too. i know that if you texted them, you were supposedly going to get a message allowing you access to the show & there were also details sent out through an email.... so i don't know. i really hope a ticket will be enough to get me in. i really hate waiting outside in the cold for long periods of time...

I sure hope not since I have to jet down to Irving Plaza to see Scott Weiland.

I'm going. The concert is first come first served. So you know how that's going to be. Everyone will be there early. Lucky people who won the contest who got guaranteed entry. Oh and the horrible cold weather. I hate concerts in the winter well at least waiting to go in.

Nope, this is wrong. If you got a free ticket via Ticketmaster or are on some sort of list (be it AP, Guest list, band list, etc.) you are getting in. Since if you try to pull tickets on Ticketmaster now it says nothing available, meaning that there was a certain capacity they limited it to.
Also, since this band could barely sell out Irving Plaza a few weeks ago, I don't think people will have trouble getting into this show.

Yes it was. You said the show was "first come, first serve" which is wrong. If you have a ticket, you get in. If you don't, you do not. Simple as that. Tickets (as they often are) are first come, first serve. It's not one of those shows where it's first come first serve entry. You need a ticket or to be on a list. Anyways, I'm not trying to be a dick and argue with you but just want to make sure everyone has the correct information.

Oh no I'm not trying to agrue and I see your point. Alright quick question though I don't know if you know but I wanna ask someone was ticket sells for the Irving bad because of ticket prices or just bad line up or no one cared as much?

Is your question: Why did the Irving Plaza show barely sell out?
That can be attributed to a number of things (though we can't be certain). They have been out of the spotlight for a couple years and in the world of pop-punk/top 40/whatever, that's a LONG time for your audience to simply grow out of your music. Simply put, that's why you won't see bands like All Time Low, We The Kings, Boys Like Girls, etc. around for awhile simply because kids grow OUT of them. AAR is experiencing a similar thing. Their songs were much bigger than the actual band which means that if they don't have a current single getting top spins at Top 40 radio (the only format left that will actually give you wide exposure) people just won't care. The 2002/03 emo boom is over and kids are fragmented and spread out.

So did anyone who won passes through the contest talk to anyone who knew of the AP guestlist? They had one for the label, one for the sponsors and then one big general list, none of which had the AP names on it from what I was told. I still got in, as there wasn't anyone checking for tickets at the door, but still, it was quite the clusterfuck of confusion, maybe that was just my isolated situation?

oh wow, the lady didn't even check to see if my name was on the guestlist she just handed me a pass. I had won a ticket through AP so I don't know if I was on the list or not. It was really unorganized.

Also, did anyone notice Nick's guitar was WAY too low in the mix?

I thought it was very odd that the show ended up being a taping for Walmart Soundcheck. I didn't see it advertised as such on any of the posts about this show. I don't know how many shots of the crowd they typically use, but the crowd for this show was absolutely terrible. Yeah there was some singing along, but aside from one girl who climbed up on her boyfriends shoulders, nobody moved the entire set. For a free show that was supposed to be for the fans, the crowd didn't react at all.

I went as well. I didn't even know that it was for Walmart. I agree the crowd didn't seem to be too much interested to do much of anything at the show they sang along it was too calming. But I enjoyed it. The crowd was into it but not too much and I thought they would have had more people in there but apparently not.

Yeah, with all of the ways that tickets were being given out, I thought the place would be packed.
