View Full Version : Moment Killers

Brooklyn2010

Everyone was laughing at the previous joke and there was the inevitable pause of silence in between the stories being told; the silence became unbearable. At this moment, my grandpa's mouth formed these words,
" So I went to the doctor and he had some good news for me."

As seemingly invested as we appeared, we reluctantly inquired what this good news was.

He responded with this, " Well, he told me that the aneurysm hadn't grown much since the last time I had been in, and that at this point, it couldn't kill me."

... Wait, what the hell??? We didn't even know he had an aneurysm!... We were all just having a good time, actually laughing at the jokes and stories but then, boom! He had to go and be a moment killer. It was silent again for a solid 10 minutes after his exciting news over not dying. This was the biggest, but not the only Debbie Downer moment that occurred at my household today so....I need confirmation that other people have just as weird, if not worse, relatives. And, I want to hear yours too. Awkward, funny, embarrassing, moment killing stories from the holiday season, or not either way, post them. :-)

Ahaha, no... but I could marry into it.. and then it would! Justin. Mine. haha Anyways, yeah at least I don't have a dead cheating double life father who has an illegitimate daughter who's in love with my druggie soldier brother and a sister who also married a cheater, and a brother who is or isn't still married to his wife due to infidelity issues also.... Seems like Kevin might have the least amount of issues on the show, but he is the most controversial character! Kevin rocks.

Oh dear. My prayers go out to your family. I hope your grandma makes a speedy recovery. And I hope you can manage with out your mom for so long.
I have a friend who is going through the same thing; except his aunt is just counting her days at this point. His mom is living with her, a few hours away until the time comes...

I'm not sure if this counts, but here goes. I went with my girlfriend's immediate family to visit her aunt and uncle for Thanksgiving. In order for the story to make complete sense, I will provide just a little information about her uncle Paul. It is rumored within their family that Paul is a child predator. Although this has yet to be proven true, all the signs are there. For example:

1. His name is Paul.
2. He has a push-broom mustache.
3. Playtime with the nieces and nephews often gets a little too physical.
4. When holding a small child, or when in the same room as a small child, his eyes burn with longing.

Well, anyway, my girlfriend's little brother Ryan and I were having a discussion about his aunt and uncle's plans to sell their home. He went on to say, "Well, whoever buys this house is in for a surprise 'cause there are at least a few dogs buried outback." Seeing as Ryan and I were alone, I responded with, "The dogs aren't even the issue, Ryan. Only God and your uncle Paul know how many little kids are buried out there." When he didn't laugh, I turned around and there he was, push-broom mustache and all.

well.. at first i was telling everyone how it was just all based on luck, i didn't believe it in. sure enough, my first card said 'you will start arguments' and then my second card read 'you will try to force your opinion on other people'. later on i got the 'you will come into money very soon' card.

Ayiii that sucks, and is very sad. I don't think I've ever had that bad of a buzz killing situation.
Other thann...I was in Quebec City, the old part, on a class trip, and me and a couple of friends went to the Red Bull Rush Crash Course thing, and it was soooo amazing, siiick ice routes with crazy skaters on them, blasting Daft Punk with huge crowds and a whole boat load of French people. We decided to head back and just as we get there, out teacher screams "WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN WE WERE SUPPOSED TO LEAVE 10 MINUTES AGO (to catch a train) GET YOUR LUGGAGE NOW"!!!!!! (this is all in French might I add, so it sounded even scarier.) The rest of our class was already on the bus. We felt like shit, and needless to say it was a huge buzz kill.
This doesn't compare at all t your story though.
