this cd is pretty good in my opinion..I agree with whoever said that about beverly hills..i always skip that one..I think my favs are "this is such a pity" "pardon me" "best friend" and "Freak Me out"...just my opinion

edit..i want to listen to the last track..because i have herd the first 30 secs or so..but that means i have to listen to every track before it since they disabled skipping tracks..whats up with that??

i love the new album, i don't like the second track so much though "this is such a pity" it's too eighties and electronic. i love my best friend, and freak me out. i've hated beverly hills since the first time i heard it. i hate it so much

i think this album is great. it definitely blows the Green Album and Maladroit out of the water for starters. also, if any Weezer fan likes Pinkerton, then you will not be disappointed by Make Believe. the songwriting is the best its been in a while, the guitar work is great and i bet these songs will sound awesome live.

the only reason why weezer has been sucking as of late is because
they are sans matt sharp's falsetto vocals.

think about it. there is a falsetto-shaped void in all of the new weezer songs and it can only be filled with the wickedly awesome voice of matt sharp!

I like it alot. It is way better than the last two albums and has some real gems on here (This Is Such A Pity sounds like the bastard love child of the Cars and The Rentals in my eyes).

I am looking forward to this. I was going to buy it anyway but now I am excited to rock this in my car for the summer.

The lyrics for We Are All On Drugs made me cringe hardcore...those might be the worst Rivers lyrics ever and this is a man who wrote the line, "Crab at the booty, taint gonna do no good".

i can't understand how people can critque an album after one listen. the best music is the one that you find decent at first and gets better after a few listens. give it a few listens. pinkerton was the same way. remember buying that album the week it was released and and thinking it was a blasphemous response to the holy blue album, and then three weeks later realizing how amazing it is? well, unless you were one of those fans who picked it up after hearing island in the sun and sung its praises before it even entered your cd player.

There have been quite a few albums and bands that I couldn't stand and once I gave them a few listens, they grew on me. For some reason Coheed and Cambria was like that for me....when I first heard Claudio's voice I was like "what is this crap??!!". Then after a while it grew on me, and well, C&C are one of my fave bands! Odd how that works, huh?

haha no shit what's wrong with half of the worlds kids these days. I don't know about you but when i listen to music it's through headphones, most of the time and for best listening pleasure i just lay down and chill and listen to the pretty sounds....

This all depends on the type of music though. I'm not going to go listen to Underoath while trying to sleep or even relax. haha

I usually give a cd, especially a cd from a band i like, atleast 5-6 tries before i say ok this is just not for me or i'm down for this radical sound. Some of the people on this site won't even give the rest of the cd a listen because they don't like Beverly Hills. I enjoy Beverly Hills and i can just imagine how cool it will be live. This album, like the last 2, is a bit of a tough call. On one hand, there are aspects about it (including whole songs) that absolutely suck balls. On the other hand, it features moments that far surpass Green or Maladroit.

But lets get one thing straight: this is NOT a return to form. This album in no way resembles blue or pinkerton. Rivers' lyrics, while they may seem more personal, are really no less of a stand-in part of the music then on, say, Crab. Completely gone is the honest storytelling and witty vocal delivery of Weezer's younger years.

It's like alot of modern rock these days: completely without soul.

R.I.P. Old Weezer... it's with massive trepidation that I greet your sucessor.

Give this man the prize, best line ever.

He's absolutely right. There's been almost TEN YEARS between pinkerton and make believe. If Rivers would STILL be writing about the almost illegal japanese girl that he yearned over, he'd either be mentally damaged for not being able to move on after such time or just trying to milk every last dime he could out of that subject. Either way it's not good.

My advice to those who are still bent out of shape about this (or any) new weezer is to take it for what it is: new weezer. They're not the same people they were all those years ago, therefore they're not going to write like they did then. If you don't like the album, point it out with reasons instead of referring to it as 'teh ghey' or some fourteen year old crap like that.

I own the album. But I think it's their best pinkerton which wasn't terribly hard to do. The album is pretty awesome besides Beverly Hills. "This is Such a Pity" is amazing and I really like "The Other Way" it reminds me of a Kweller song.

You nailed it.

This album was written to be as unoffensive as possible- it's Rivers' way of making a safe bet that his diehard fans will accept the album by making a simple and straightforward album. Notice that there aren't any tracks where you say, WOW, there's something different! It's all designed to satiate your Weezer thirst without having to give you anything original or groundbreaking.

A lot of people think the lyrics suck because everyone here is used to face value bullshit lyrics. Rivers actually writes stuff you need to think about. As cheesy as it is, even Beverly Hills is about his alienation of coming home. So lay off and give it another listen. I sure as hell cant wait until Tuesday.

You nailed it.

You're wrong. He did that on Maladroit. He posted all the demos for Maladroit and then got fan input and changed a lot of songs based on fan opinion. Hell a fan even named the album. So that please the Weezer fans is bullshit. Rivers made the album he and the rest of the band wanted to make.

It's so funny how huge the bandwagon for hating the The Green Album and Maladroit is. I agree they're different than Pinkerton/Blue but people exaggerate their distaste for Green/Maladroit way too much. I guess I'm not a real Weezer fan if I enjoy those two CDs as well.

youre not the only one who likes those cds, i enjoy them a lot and almost as much as i like pinkerton, i dont think they are worse, they are just different. i really do think weezer is a band that experiments and takes risks, and in the end their collective body of work will show that

most of these kids only like pinkerton cuz theyre supposed to anyways, so its no surprize to me that they dont like the more recent weezer albums :headshake
