Of course I've been spining a lot of Fall Out Boy lately, but Motion City has been making their rounds again as well as some frequent Minus The Bear jams. Say Anything and Waking Ashland have been spun a little bit within the last couple of days as well. This is all me personally by the way.

I feel the vindication for our FOB posts knowing they are the most listened to band on our charts.

As for me .. I've been listening exclusively to MxPx's Panic.

OMG! You so are the first one to bring this to our attention. Just so you know I sent out a memo, TPS cover sheet and all, notifying all the staff over the name and how it needs to change. We'll let you know when we draw new names from a hat and what we come up with.

Note: That was saracasm. Please continue reading...

Correct. We're not. Most of the music we talk about isn't punk either. Our name comes from the music that has evolved out of what was once punk music. If you want us to change our URL, buy us a new one and we will get it all linked up.

That was convinently taken from our FAQ that I see Jason has edited and put into smaller words so that morons like yourself that bring up this argument can comprehend it without getting any headahces.

astute observation. these are what our readers listen to, and all that is represented are those that are in the audioscrobbler group. Can you honestly say you're suprised? There's a reason you don't see The Decemberists, Thunderbirds are Now! or any of those more indie bands in there...they don't sell 50,000 records. The bands most played are conicidently the bands that sell the most records. And great, you don't like those bands - my audioscrobbler recently doesn't look much like that, but there's some overlap - who cares? all the page is just shows what our readers listen to, that's it, it doesn't reflect the site's views itself, or anything. AP can't change who visits its site, so quite bitching.

My top 5 played artists:

1 Fall Out Boy... 394
2 Motion City Soundtrack... 141
3 Reggie And The Full Effect... 119
4 Death From Above 1979... 93
5 Days Away... 74

Does anyone else find that some tracks don't get added when you play them? I use Winamp and I found out that there has to be info added to the tag (when you right-click on a song and go to "View file info...", there's tags there) which makes sense to me now, but I didn't realize it at the time. So the past 2 months, a lot of bands/songs I listen to haven't been added to my Audioscrobbler.

Damn, my Audioscrobbler really isn't reflecting my tastes at all as of late. While Hot Hot Heat is certainly pretty good, I think the Sherwood record is average at best, most of the Secret Lives' CD is blah, the Starting Line disc is alright, and Amber Pacific is ehhhh. It's really only there because of their upcoming reviews (save for TSL).

While I don't use Audioscrobbler, I definitely know my top ten for the past week or so...

1. Acceptance - 'Phantoms' - How is this album not selling more? Downloaders really should buy it. The artwork's cool and they definitely deserve it, which you know already if you've listened to this.
2. The Higher - 'Histrionics' - I like this more than Fall Out Boy. Way more than Fall Out Boy.
3. Mike Ness - 'Cheating at Solitare' - Last month I was all about my Social Distortion CDs. Now the weather's a bit warmer and I'm feeling the country vibe on some of these songs. Cover of Bob Dylan's "Don't Think Twice (It's Alright)" is great, too.
4. The Recieving End of Sirens - 'Between the Heart and the Synapse' - It's everything Frank's hype made it out to be and more.
5. The Cooper Temple Clause - 'Kick Up the Fire and Let the Flames Break Loose' - I've finally purchased an iPod and have spent the last week or so loading in my CDs. It's enabled me to rediscover those that I might have forgotten about. I really like this album.
6. Fall Out Boy - 'From Under the Cork Tree' - I thought this was going to be number one for the rest of my life. Almost disappointing, but way too catchy to write off.
7. Hot Hot Heat - 'Elevators' - Been spinning it since it came out and I still find myself wanting to listen to it.
8. Say Anything - Early Songs - I have a friend who was super into Say Anything before "...Is A Real Boy" changed the scene. He burned me a really killer mix of their older songs ... "High School Daze", "Resounding", "The Last Great Punk Rock Song", and many more.

...Ok, I only have eight.

Damien Jurado - On My Way to Absence
Magnolia Electric Co. - What Comes After the Blues
John Cougar Mellencamp - Words & Music
Discover America - Pyschology
Catch 22 - Keasby Nights
The Decemberists - Picaresque
The Firebird Band - City at Night
Applied Communications - Africa Baby Yeah Yeah Yeah

I'd like to see this website acknowledge some of these bands.

AFSjulian

The Firebird Band has been covered on this site. They've been talked about in threads related to their tour with Liar's Academy.

There's also a Tooth and Nail add for Discover America's new album right smack on the main page.

And I'm sure everyone here with parents knows who John Cougar Mellencamp and probably doesn't listen to his stuff regardless of how good the new songs may be considering he wrote cheesy garbage like "Small Town", "Jack and Diane", and "Scarecrow".

I'm also pretty sure I saw The Decembrists mentioned a bunch of times in this thread ... even a few by people who work here.

Edit: And wasn't Keasby Nights by Streetlight Manifesto? And even if it wasn't, I've definitely seen Catch 22 mentioned on this site a million times too.
