Yeah, I've got these tomorrow...I've heard you have 20 minutes to write a 5 paragraph essay.

im_random

I took them in march. They suck. Hard.

You have 25 minutes to write the essay. But there was an article in the paper the other day talking about how they hardly read the essays..they judge them more by length which is such bullshit. And if you have facts wrong it doesn't matter.

Gahhhhh not looking forward to this. Again.

The essay is really easy if you have an understanding of grammar. You don't even have to have your facts be correct; you could say, "Catcher in the Rye's narrator, Holden, was a reliable source," and you will not be penalized. Don't stress out. Good luck to everyone.

that fill-in math section fucked me in the ass. i got stuck on one problem and didn't move on and when i looked up i realized i had 3 minutes left and i had finished exactly 2 of the fill-in problems. but i got 2 more done after that. so i might do okay. I got a 1780 on the PSAT....which isn't that bad, is it?

A 1780 is average I think. I'm not sure how the PSAT is now for the new SAT.

Ya taking the SAT is really more of a battle against the clock. I'm sure given enough time, everyone could get a 2300+...but when you're limited and put under that time stress...you start to crack and make small mistakes and it adds up.

haha yeah no worries. I didn't really think it was hard persay..I just couldn't think of any literary examples so I had to resort to my own life for the whole thing and I'm not used to doing that. But I didn't really care too much about the writing portion because I was satisfied with my score the first time around so whateverrr.

Something I found interesting though was that of all the people I talked to..well okay 5 or so..none of them had the same math sections as me because we were comparing problems and for the most part we all had different ones. It was so weird.

I don't think the latin american version works. I took a latin american one but I still have to take the other one. The one you took probably works for mexican universities only. You'll have to take the other one too so you can apply to universities on the US.

Yeah I figured it was so no one could cheat, but I still found it odd because how can you compare tests when people had different ones? Then it almost becomes luck because you could have a test that you think is really difficult while the person next to you has a different test that you might have found easier.

wow congrats. So are you gonna re-retake or are you going with this score.

It sure takes the new SAT longer to grade, makes sense though.

Now for this SAT...is it like the last SAT where u can combine parts of multiple tests to make ur highest score or do you have to chose one test and stick with that? For example...if I got a 710 in writing and a 750 in math on one test and on the next test got a 680 and a 780 respectively, would my final score be combining the 710 and 780?

Thanks. I think I'm just gonna stick with these scores because I've taken them twice now and I'm pretty content with the ones I have.

The March test took almost a month to get the scores back..this one only took 2 weeks which was kind of weird but I guess it makes sense because it wasn't the first time it was being taken.

And yeah you can combine scores from different tests.

I got a 11\12 on the essay and got a 590 on the writing, so it must not have too much influence on it. This test really doesn't measure how well you write. It measures your ability to write an essay on a random topic, that means nothing. What's important is how well you write in everyday life and how you write on things you put your mind to.
