this year there isn't anybody running away with it.
i think colt mccoy deserves it the most. he'd get my vote.

best player in the country is michael crabtree.
but colt's had a heisman quality year for sure.

i think if sam bradford takes over the rest of this game he wins the heisman.
Meh. No real clear cut guy.
I'd go with McCoy right now.

I almost want to take Tebow going back to back and both Harrell and Bradford have been astonishing, but the fact that McCoy is the leading passer and rusher on his team makes me choose him.

And I'd have given Crabtree a shot til he messed up his ankle
edit: Haha, one guy has Darryl Clark as his 5th Heisman option...despite the fact he has fewer TD's as a QB then Michael Crabtree does as a WR

i can tell you at least one voter that wouldn't hesitate doing that.

It's really close right now, but I have to give the edge to McCoy. In the end, the determining factor will likely be which QB (out of Bradford and McCoy) gets to play in the Big XII championship game.

Nate Davis.
Hell yes, that is what I came to post.

I wish Michigan State would have finished with a stronger year so Ringer could have had a legitimate shot. Oh well. I agree with Michael Crabtree being top-notch but now he's all injured.
I chose Other because, and I know I'll get laughed off the forum for my Big 10 bias, but Shonn Greene has had such an impressive year and consistently carried his team week after week. Even against ranked opponents he would put up 100+ so I would have liked to see him in the hunt but I know realistically it will go to whichever Big XII South QB will be in the conference championship.

Nate Davis will probably be a better pro QB than the aforementioned quarterbacks anyways.

He might be better than Harrell, McCoy and Tebow, but I very highly doubt he'll be better than Sam Bradford.

Ringer had to run behind a below-average offensive line this year. If Ringer had Iowa's O-line, he would have been in the Heisman Trophy hunt.

Recently, Oklahoma quarterbacks haven't even be able to make an NFL Roster, let alone start.

And, just to through this out there, Davis lost his go to guy, Dante Love, in Week 3 of the season, just imagine how much more explosive the offense would have been and how better Davis' already great numbers could have been haha

True, but then again look at Jason White, who was dominate in college and took home the Heisman. While Bradford is the most talented out of all of them, he has to prove his game will translate from the Oklahoma style offense to the pros.

Haha I had the misfortune of watching the Lions on Thanksgiving, I just can't believe an NFL team could be that bad. I mean it's obvious that they don't have talent, but for the love of God tackle somebody!

You think arm strength is the major reason? It's just amazing that White and Bradford put up similar numbers, either won or is in heisman contetion, in the same system, and one with be a top 5 pick, and the other wasn't even drafted.

Jason White had two major reconstructive knee surgeries by the time he was 22. I'd think that's part of the reason no team wanted to take a chance on him.

It's hard to say, but I would be totally shocked if Bradford or McCoy didn't win. I think Bradford has had the more impressive season, but everyone is all over McCoy right now.

It's everything. It's also why Harrell will be a first day draft pick when he's putting up similar numbers to Kliff Kingsbury.
The numbers are similar, but that doesn't make two QB's from the same system in different years destined to the same career path in terms of pro football. That's such a dumb way to even think about it.

This...he retired, literally, due to "weak knees". I also think Bradford is more generally mobile, not a running QB, but a guy who can avoid sacks, which Jason White wasn't really doing (he had a lot of negative "rushing" yards that came from sacks)
People forget, but he was one of the most athletic QBs in the country before he knees gave out.

Oh. K. And his knees did give out and he was then half the talented QB that Bradford is. Thus, Bradford can be a big time NFL QB and White could not.

Tebow. I think he fell off the map since Florida lost early in the season, and if he plays a big role in beating Alabama there's no doubt in my mind that he should win it.

Except that he has worst numbers across the board when compared to the other big 3 QB's -- who all played in the toughest division of football this year. I don't see how anyone other than himself, could give Tebow a first place vote this year. That'd make the MLB awards look like they matter.
Although Colt McCoy is way more important to his team, i think Bradford deserves the trophy

I just am failing to see the relevancy of White's "athletic ability" before this knee operations.
I was just remarking on preppy's comment. Obviously he was never going to be an NFL starter, but I think if his knees had held up and he had retained that athleticism he might not be out of football right now, regardless of his arm strength.

tebow, i mean 5 qbs in the big 12 threw for at least 3500 yards obviously the defenses arent that great

12/13/08, 09:42 AM
the big 12 has the best group of quarterbacks in any conference, hands down. three of which were heisman front runners the whole season. The others i'm guessing are Chase Daneil, who was a finalist last year, and probably Zac Robinson.
Anyway, I really don't think McCoy's going to win this. I think the majority of people in the nation think he's most deserving of it, but it seems like the media thinks it's going to Tebow. I kind of think it will too, even though in my opinion the the least deserving of them all.

Bradford's passing numbers are like a video game. They are far ahead of McCoy and Tebow. 48 TD's and 6 INT's is silly.
if you include rushing, McCoy still has a big advantage on Tebow as a complete package.
and the SEC was not that good this year, so please dont go the SOS route . The good defensive numbers have a lot to do with the fact that the offensive talent in the league was so thin.
Bradford will win, but I'd be content with McCoy too. Tebow wasn't in their league, statistically, this year .. and thats what the Heisman is about. It's for the best player in the country, not the most "valuable", which is an arbitrary term anyway.

If it was really best player, though, Michael Crabtree, Shonn Greene, and Malcolm Jenkins wouldn't be sitting at home. It's basically an MVP.

theory and practice don't always go hand in hand, especially when it comes to voting for awards in sports.
the individual merits for Bradford, and McCoy, far exceeded Tebow this year.

It should go to McCoy. He's had a phenomenal season. Whether it was rushing or throwing, he did it better than anybody else. As a Florida fan I want it to go to Tim Tebow, but as a college football fan I want it to go to McCoy. In any case, whoever wins it is deserving of it.

Yes the SEC was down, but of course the Big 12 QB's will have great numbers, they're playing against basically all teams that are ranked lower than 75 defensively, while Tebow is playing against some of the top defenses in the country.
