First two years were an awkward hell. Last year was good, but a heavy work load. Senior year is great so far, I'm still awkward, but I go to parties and have been socializing a lot more. It's a good life. I just hate waking up so fucking early.

If you only went for the social aspect, you should have just dropped out. I mean, you would have talked to a lot of people working the drive thru window at McDonald's.

Mine was basically the opposite, my freshman and sophomore year was a complete blur to me, junior year was better and senior year was the best hands down, the lack of classes made it a way better year. I think its almost universal though, you hate high school every day till your done with it. College isn't that bad either..

i spent 4 years (8th to junior year) at a school i hated. but then my senior year katrina hit new orleans (my hometown) so i moved to a small country city called new iberia. i moved in with my aunt uncle and my cousins (one who was 1 year younger than me) i endd up having the time of my life. we had parties in sugar cane fields with bonfires, house parties that never got broken up, and just drinking at peoples hunting camps. the school/community accepted me (many people didnt know me, but they knew of that kid from new orleans) i ended up winning mr most spirited. it was the best year of my life. we had a prom after party for everyone who went to prom at one of my friends dads bar. the mayor of the towns daughter went there so the mayor was there helping chaparone the party. well everyone got super drunk and i ended up grinding the mayor all dirty (mayor is a chick dont worry) it was just an overall amazing year. i consider that my high school experience, that one year in new iberia

I hated junior high. I went to a private Catholic school and everyone practically were rich typewads and I felt like I didn't belong. I only had like one friend the entire time. I did enjoy my early years of high school. That was when the programs I participated were good. I'm finishing up now as we speak, being a senior right now and all. I used to be part of the band until the school hired this new band director that has know idea what the hell he's doing. He picked favorites and blew all this money on these really retarded uniforms that look like something out of star trek, only gay. And he didn't seem to like me, so I'm not in band this year. I'm part of the waterpolo team at my high school also. I liked the people in there with me, cept now all these volleyball rejects randomly joined this year and they're rather annoying (volleyball players at my school are pretty much like how cheerleaders are at most schools). They're not serious about anything and are now randomly bringing drama into the whole equation. A lot of my so called friends are throwing hissy fits now so I'm just looking forward to going on to college and starting fresh again.

High School wasn't too bad. I wasn't bullied or made fun of. If I didn't like a class, I would make up some excuse to switch to a different one. Which caused me to end up having about 3 study hall type classes during my senior year, and no homework, so I just read a lot. I had fairly good grades, and just enjoyed myself.
I was actually voted quietest my senior year. :]

High school was pretty good, I think about it often since I was still in it less than a year ago. However, college is so much better.

TangledUp
01/18/09, 10:21 AM
Not the best. I moved the end of my freshman year to a really snobby school. I was a naturally shy kid back then. I had a couple friends but it was quite the dramatic time, like it is for most high school girls. I only talk to ONE kid from high school, and we didn't really become good friends until we were both in college (4 hours apart, mind you). I'm glad high school's over.

everything about high school was torture. all the girls were so immatureand focused more on seeing how little they could eat in a day and still survive. i was sick of seeing the same faces everyday that i had been seeing since 3rd grade. there were no attractive boys to look at because i had known them all so long and dating one of them would have been like incest. By the time i was a sohpomore, i had learned everything that school had to teach. i did take dual enrollment my senior year which meant i got six hours of college out of the way and didnt have to go to school until 8.30 mwf.

never in my life would i go back.

Only thing that keeps me from skipping every day is how much fun it is to fuck with random underclassmen and midget Native American substitute teachers. Oh, and sometimes friends are cool too. But other than that, I pretty much sleep unless I bum some caffeine pills or a Monster off of some junior who thinks they're so cool.

My school is made up of Mexican kids and White kids. In a brochure my school hands out every year about academic performance, the white kids increased in every subject. The mexican kids dropped 10 or so points in a few subjects and only increased in a few things. It was way funny, though, because in math, mentally handicapped kids from a 5 to a 0. I guess we dont teach handicapped kids math anymore, haha

Anyways, my main point in writing this is to show how dumb the kids that go to my school are.

Freshman and Sophomore years were alright, although I'm not friends with hardly any of the same people now. I got depressed a lot, but, meh.
Junior year was okay. I was learning to handle stress better, and I had a pretty good group of friends.
Senior year; please, let me out. I'm so sick of immaturity, and for some reason,it seems like the only people I have classes with are the immature ones. then again, this class right now is full of mostly sophomores.

blech to high school.

RumpleForeskin
02/06/09, 10:36 AM
Didn't bother to read any of this crap, but to the original poster or anyone else who is interested, college potentially has the good chance of being just as stupid and immature as high school. Nothing really changes. You are still just as lame as a freshman in college than you were in high school and people will usually treat you that way unless you make a name for yourself. Usually you reach some sort of enlightenment when you turn 21 and not because you can drink but because you just enter a world where you are equal to most if not all of everyone over 21.

Boring/insane because English school starts when you're 11 and ends when you're 15-16. (15 in my case), so half the time you either can't get any alcohol and are extremely awkward, or you're hanging out with older kids and growing up too fast. I've done both, seeing as I switched groups about halfway through.
Also, by the time you're 14 you get to completely drop subjects and start thinking abut your future already, which is pretty pressurising.

Freshman year was terrible, I talked to pretty much no one aside from my couple friends that I still saw from grade school. I got ridiculed by alot of other students, and ontop of all that, I got terrible grades and had to go to summer school.

Sophomore year I actually started to make a few new friends. Granted, the friends I made were definetly more in the outcast crowd like myself, but I finally started to feel like I belonged somewhere. I also did alright grade wise that year and didn't have to go to summer school. I did however get suspended for a couple days for supposedly "instigating a fight" during lunch one period. Sophomore year was probably my favorite year overall, it was a time of big changes in my life, and I miss it alot.

Junior year was a bit of a continuation of sophomore year. Still really fun, and I made a few more new friends. It wasn't quite as good as sophomore year, but it was still fun. I had started to develop a crush on a girl I had become friends with in sophomore year, and I also started my first band during this year. I also passed every subject that year, which was nice.

Senior year was unfortunately the most depressing year of high school for me. I had a mental breakdown the summer before senior year began, and I had found out I have OCD, panic disorder, depression, GAD, and a couple other disorders. I suffered from them throughout the year, but the biggest twist to my senior year was that I was in love for the first time with that same girl who I had began to develop a crush on. We hung out all the time, and I tried to let her know how I felt, but it was unrequited. Due to my depression, I started to skip some classes for the first time this year, which in turn led to me failing 3 subjects that year and me not getting to go to my graduation ceremony... fun stuff. Got stuck graduating with about 15 other students in summer school, none of whom were my friends...

So yeah, that was high school for me, in a nutshell.

Hated freshman and sophomore year. I hated the city I was in---full of snobby, self-conceited spoiled rich kids. Thankfully, we moved before junior year and I loved my last two years. The people in San Antonio were so much more down to earth and friendly. But I definitely miss how easy it was and not having to work full-time to support myself while taking classes and all the pressure there is now.

So far I hate high school.
It really annoys me to see people just doing things like smoking and that stuff just to be popular.
I feel like I don't belong here. Most of the time I'm alone, I have big problems in socializing. All I ask for is that I can find someone that feels this too.

I used to have great friends, now they just don't give a fuck about me...

I'll leave this school next year. Maybe that helps...

Pretty much High School was skipping it, making up the hours, smoking myself retarded in between, and partying on the weekends. If I could do anything to get out of class or assignments, I would. I hated it, honestly. I always maintained an average good enough to graduate, and bullshitted my make-up hours that I missed, only to find out once I graduated (and got accepted to college -- UTSA) it was in fact pretty stupid. Plus I was always going to shows and being in and out of bands so I was always one of "those kids". The only regret I have about High School, was wearing pants that were way too tight for me.

So basically it was whatever.

Yeah, college is so much better..high school was rather lame. I mean the only good thing about it was having your friends closed by. Unfortunately, in college..most of my friends are scattered across the united states. Unfortunately, I just finished..I am not looking forward to what comes next :[

High school was pretty crappy, but at the same time it was pretty okay for me. I didn't like the people there, there wasn't much of a mix and cliques were too stupid. We didn't have great maths teachers, so a lot of people did crap in Maths. They actually employed a drugged up, dyslexic Physics teacher for us and we never learnt much. After a lot of complaints, they fired her and hired another guy, who had to teach us the whole year again, in the space of 2-3 months. It wasn't a good environment to be in, the people that I got along with all lived far, so we didn't meet up and do stuff that much.
On the good side though, things were easier; life was easier. It was okay to make mistakes and be nutured. Some of the subjects/topics/issues we covered were good to debate about and stuff.

High school was pretty sweet. Up until Junior year I had a stable set of friends that I did everything with. I always kept busy with a job, atleast 6 AP classes every year and theater/band/lacrosse.

High school was amazing and i wish i could go back.

I went to a small private school which only had about 80 girls per year (it was an all girls school). Everyone knew everyone, haha the only problem was everyone also knew everything about one another. Saying that, so much fun and you'll miss it once its gone. After you leave i think you'll only talk to about a quarter of those you hung out with so enjoy it while you can.

I did a lot of stuff in high school (field hockey, lacrosse, marching and concert band, quiz team, NHS during my senior year), so I had a ton of friends. I also studied hard, got good grades, and got into a good college. I loved high school, but I wouldn't want to be going back anytime soon (I graduated in June and leave for college in a week).

I have two regrets though; One is that I never had a boyfriend, and one is that I didn't go to enough parties. It never worked out with guys and me because I wasn't interested in most of the guys that were interested in me, and I never went after any of the guys I was interested in (long story short I'm a mess around guys). If I went back, I'd try to find a boyfriend.

When it comes to parties, I was always invited, but I very rarely went. If I could go back, I'd definitely go to more parties since I always felt like I was missing out.

Ahah, high school. Fun times. Kinda.

Let's see, I went into my freshman year all ghettoed out, and I thought I was awesome cuz I listened to rap and wore South Pole, Ecko, and Fubu. Seriously, a little white kid. And then, one day out of the blue, I was like "I want to be a goth kid". I bought all black clothes, dyed my hair black, and listened to nothing but slipknot and korn. By the last quarter of the year, I had to have some malignant melanoma removed from my right heel. Since my fat ass had asthma, crutches were not an option. I was confined to a wheelchair to get around school for the last quarter of my freshman year. It really sucked, because some people actually gave me a hard time about it. The only good thing about freshman year: I picked up a pair of drumsticks. Also, I was told to listen to this band called Brand New. At the time, my reaction was "what the fuck is this cry baby bullshit?"

Nothing of interest happened sophomore year, besides me forming a band. 4/5 of that band (me included) still play together today, but we went through name and lineup changes. These guys are my best friends.

Junior year. Nothing really.

Senior year. My friend Rachel told me to listen to Brand New. Seeing how I already heard it, I was very wary going into it. God damn, I'm so glad I gave them a second listen. They defined me. Deja Entendu and The Devil and God defined my senior year for me. I connected to songs in ways I didn't even think possible. They are my favorite band now, and they will hopefully be my favorite band for a long time. Not only that, but in February of '08, I underwent laproscopic banding surgery (Lap Band) for weight loss. I was (still am) a big guy. Pre-op, I hovered around 310-320 lbs. Now I'm around the 250-260 mark. This process has been quite the struggle, but I'm glad I went through.

Actually, all of high school has been a struggle. But I can honestly I'm a better person because of it. I grew up. It's awesome.

Eh, freshman year was really crappy. I didn't do anything other than soccer, and while I had friends in school, didn't ever do anything with people outside of school... This summer, I've been trying to hang out with people more, I've been working out and gained some confidence, we'll see how the year goes, I'll definitely try to be more social..
But for me, school gets better as the years go on. I dreaded 6th/7th grade, and 8th grade was awesome. Even 5th grade was the best year in elementary for me.

1st year=a little bit shitty, just made fun of my classmates with my other friends, was not productive in any way

2nd year=not much to say about this one, pretty boring and unmemorable

3rd year=fun year, hitting other people in the balls gained popularity for some unknown reason, though it's not fun when you're the one getting hit lol

4th year=easily the BEST year of High School in my life, fucking awesome, my section was the closest one i'v ever been in and also the whole batch was very close, when we had our final retreat before graduating the whole section were crying along to the music, god i miss those days :(

My high school years were completely fucked. Didn't really get much of a good education although I went to perhaps the best state school in the country, and to make it worse my Dad brags about it all the time. The standards were too high, too many stuck-up kids, didn't relate to anyone, not to mention there was this freak that kept chasing after me. I completely disagree with the Indonesian education system and the way it is run, but fuck yeah it's over. I've only got 2 years to spend here for college and I'm hoping it will be great, if not it's just another 2 years to withstand and I'll be off doing the rest of my degree + graduate school overseas.

I miss high school so much. Graduated in June, and I've missed it everyday since. Shitty circumstances have forced me to sit college out until next year, so all of my friends are away starting the next chapters of their lives and I'm just working my shitty job without a social life. On the last day I just took a walk around the halls and they were completely empty somehow and it was the most nostalgic thing ever.

The two years I spent in Istanbul were pretty much incredible. The general condition of the place really requires people to grow up a bit, so everyone was really mature for their age which was good. You can get into bars and things so we had great times, but they were grown up in the sense that they knew not to do stupid shit, unlike most people around my age. None of the "duuuude I was so fucked up!!" conversations the next day at school, either.

Then I moved here where it's quiet as fuck and most people I know are incredibly obnoxious and stupid. Still getting used to it.

I went through the whole, typical teen angst thing. I was I was angry all the time and apathetic and constantly dug myself into holes I couldn't get out of. I wound up withdrawing a few times before I finally decided to drop out the last semester of my senior year.
I like to think high school didn't count. I mean, I'm in college now anyways, so why should it?

I hated high school up until my junior/senior year. But then I realized I really should just try and enjoy myself, because I could not change the fact I was going to be there until I graduated. And once I did that, high school was pretty great. I think it's just a matter of learning to enjoy what you have at that moment. College is not automatically better...you have to be open.

thats a really good attitude

Sophomore year was the only year I could actually tolerate. I had 85 kids in my graduating class. By the time senior year rolled around, I wanted to fucking kill everyone. I miss it sometimes, I'll admit, only because the teachers all knew me personally and I was on a first name basis with the principal, but aside from that, I don't miss it one bit. Not the people, anyway. College is exceptionally better in every aspect.

ROFL. No I didn't go to University High School. I actually went to school in Bakersfield. I went to UC Irvine for college. But I'm hella familiar with Uni-high's campus. HAhaha, good times.

I really enjoyed high school, are class was pretty close and we all partied together for the most part. I was pretty involved in school activities so that kept me busy. I can't imagine a better location to have grown up in. Gotta love the Bay Area

pretty much the worst thing ever. everyone is way too shallow, you're not cool unless you have a lot of money and get shitfaced every weekend, 90% of the girls at my school carry the same $200 bag, and most of the guys are douches (hence why there is a group of guys in my class that go by "the douche crew"). if you don't have a solid group of friends by junior year, you're pretty much fucked.

the only good thing about my school is how liberal it is. we have an open campus, get free blocks, and if a teacher doesn't show up 15 after class starts then class is automatically canceled.

I'm hating high school. I'm taking AP classes and my school is one of the most difficult in the state. So I'm making B's and stressing myself out like crazy whereas, in a shitty school, I could be making A's and having fun while I'm young.

My friend who is spending his first year at Stanford told me that it's actually easier than our high school. I wanted to slap my teachers in the face.

Freshmen year was stressful. Marching band, IB, AP, and soccer all at once. I got really sick from how exhausted I was.
Sophmore year, I moved away and had no friends.
Junior year was awful.
Senior year, I finally came out of my shell and made a lot of friends. Best year by far.

Now, freshmen in college and it's a much better atmosphere. Although everyone smokes in my school, which kinda sucks but its worth the education I'm getting.

Loved it - I was in choir and on track, and since I had a position on both, I was required to know the names of at least 300 people. I had tons of friends and was friendly with everyone in general. But I look back now and I had a) poor fashion sense b) no action and c) no real interest in my classes. I have fond memories and really enjoyed it, but I wouldn't ever want to go back.

I hated secondary school - absolutely everything about it. I hated the teachers, the uniform, the lessons, the rules, the other students, everything, everything!
College (as in sixth form/16-18 education) is brilliant though. It's a much more casual environment; I'm actually interested in what I'm learning; I have a goal, so I'm actually determined to do something/get somewhere. Leaving school to move to college is the best decision I've ever made.

Everyone hated high school and loved the hell out of college, but for some reason I had the opposite experience. College was miserable because I went to a socially-isolating school, but high school ruled because you could be friends with everyone. I took my classes seriously and so was friends with all the smart kids, played in a band and so was friends with all the scene kids, and played a bunch of sports and so knew all the athletes. Plus, my girlfriend was smoking and wasn't afraid to try anal.

What a blast.

Where you trying to get in and for what?

High School for me was pretty chill. Never had any beef with anyone and was cool with all the social groups. Got along with the video game nerds, the gangstas, prep kids, etc. etc. Had my group of good friends. Played on the Varsity hockey team in Grade 9 but by no means was ever a jock of any sort. Pretty smart kid who took all university level classes and easy to get along with. As far as the kind of clothes I wore, Blended between Sports and Band stuff[into grade 12]

i didn't get laid too much. I was fairly popular. I didn't do sports really well. I smoked pot just to be cool, it got me in the "in crowd." Proudest moment was me fingering a chick in the school. I backed my car into a chicks car one morning after pulling an allnighter- guess i was tired. I was horribly embarrassed. I saw my hot teachers nipple once, i used that memory quite often that year;-) My brother was ridiculously smart, had the highest SAT score the school ever had at that point, then got into the highest ranking university the school had ever had at that point. Faculty held me to that high standard then realized that i was retarded- it was embarrassing. I skipped over 30 days my senior year and had my parking pass taken up the first month of school. Sucked ass to do that, had to bum rides from friends because it was too embarrassing for a senior to ride the bus. I never want to go back to highschool.

I'm in 9th grade. Sucks so far, my peers live up to the name of freshmen, immature and just so damn annoying. I do have alot of freedom though. My bio teacher is awesome. Its the class before lunch, so I do my work if I have any (most of the time we just watch videos), and then about halfway through class he lets me go to this teacher's prep room (I know the teacher, he's really cool), where I listen to my iPod, take a nap, clean the place up, or eat.

Did a lot of growing up in high school, but college is so much better. The freedom and the being forced to basically start over and build a new group of friends really helps you figure out who you are. Looking back high school just seems kind of 'meh, I can take it or leave it' in comparison.

Mine were alright. Socially, they were pretty good, especially junior-senior year.

A lot of AP classes = way more work than nearly all of my friends, which sucked. Most of them barely had anything to do, while I had to do tons of work all the time.
Too much drama. I'm so glad I don't have to see the same faces constantly anymore.
The days just took forever. Senior year I had a headache by the end of the day, literally every day.

Looking back now, I can't even imagine going through another 7:30-2:25 day again. That shit really sucked.

So boring. I had plenty of friends, but not many close ones. I could have been a 4.0 student, but had no motivation, so I ended up with a 3.4 or something. I dated around a little bit, but I'm shy around girls, so I don't have too many memories there. I didn't join any clubs or get very involved, although I did play drums in the jazz band, which was fun, and I played baseball my sophomore year.

It was just so...middling, which is depressing, because it didn't have to be that way at all. Totally my own fault. I don't think I knew who I wanted to be, so I ended up not really being anybody. Just a reflection of whoever I was hanging out with at the time.

I'm nearing the end of my senior year and all I can say about my high school years were that they were largely unsatisfactory. Though it was mainly my own fault; I'm shy, so I haven't gotten especially close to many people (aside from one boy, who I dated on and off from freshman to junior year) and I take mostly honors and AP classes, so I have a lot of work/stress most of the time. I'm in several clubs and I do talk to people and all that, but I'm still not as social as I wish I were.

But oh well, here's to hoping things will change in university. :-)
