ohh no! I'm sorry. I do that all the time! But yeah, new SA is going to be really interesting. I'm excited to see what they do without their normal guitarist.
Everyone here can quote me on this: Strike Anywhere will end up being one of the best punk bands of our generation.

It's not a question of musical ability or complexity at all. Here's a small breakdown of why I posted as I did.
1) You acted like the guiding fucking light of music. And you're not pumpkin. Opinions and assholes man, everyone's got them.
2) You personally attacked a genre of music that has played a big role in my life. I didn't jump into your sludge threads and tell you fuckers to cut your retarded Yngwie hair and listen to something played with a four string bass.
So suck my dick, I like orgcore because it's fun and has a consistent theme of togetherness and positivity and a social conscience. You CAN sit down and listen to something that doesn't have a blistering fucking solo in 7/25 time. Listening to music doesn't have to be a complete fucking task.

Wolf Parade - At Mount Zoomer
Mogwai - The Hawk Is Howling
Neva Dinova - You May Already Be Dreaming

They play fast shows and quiet shows, with a not quite even break between them. But Mount Hope is definitely better than bitter river (which is the only one with aggressive songs)

I listed 4 releases. Not even in the same genre. You acted like I listed a 1 dimensional list of bands that sounded a like. Like every one has done in this thread. There is no difference between band 1 and band 10 on the lists I have read in this thread. They sound the exact same, the formula is the exact same, the splatter vinyl represses are the exact same, the trend is fucking awful. The music sucks and is repetitive. I wasn't actually talking about you, I was talking about the relevant posters lists in this thread with more than 11 posts. More so the ones with bold names or the ones that know me, it was a target question at them, to spark an argument. Why you responded is beyond me. I just went with it. I was more willing to discuss my blanket/stupid statements when anyone in this thread that knows/likes me. Not someone with 3 posts that I don't give a shit what they listen to. Maaan Isis is stoner metal??
Have you ever listened to it baked?
Stoner / sludge... same thing.
Neurosis isn't stoner metal either. I just gave him the benefit of the doubt because "he's got better things to do" like listen to the same orgcore bands that sound exactly a like and raid No Idea's vinyl headquarters on how much shitty splatter represses they do.

If I pissed on you like R. Kelly would you change your mind?
Yeah, this is true... but I was at least hoping that people would post who have some sort of fading admiration for punk.
3 out of the 4 I listed that I like this year fall under an admiration of some sort of punk artform.
Especially the Lewd Acts/Hour of the Wolf Split. How these idiots in this thread are on my case about me hating orgcore and they don't have Hour of the Wolf in their top favorites, they must be new to listening to an orgcore influenced punk band that is actually fucking good.

I just wish the lyrical material of stoner metal would never be getting stoned. When you hear "One More", you'll understand.
I don't really like metal either. I can't describe why. It always makes me think of a bunch of really nerdy guys trying to look tough for the sake of looking tough. It's like gangster music for pasty white motherfuckers.

don't listen to the Ocean. That album they put out to gain cred was pretty fucking bad. Their prior work is straight nu-metal almost Killswitch sounding. They are fucking terrible. They did that post-metal whatever disc to be straight cool. Kids all over this website jocked the fuck out of it, then its flavor died out and you see none of them even mentioning it anymore. Seriously, that Ocean thread on this website was the biggest laughing stock until kids woke up and realized, hey this really isnt that good. lol

I remember not liking it when I think it was.. Ben? jocking it. But regardless, which sludge metal bands do you think are best? Only ones I currently know of are.. Old Man Gloom, Soilent Green, Cult of Luna, and I guess if they count Mastodon.
I remember people calling Isis a "classic in the vein of Converge's Jane Doe and Thrice's Vheissu".
The latter comparison was what fortunately told me to run away from my computer and eat junk food.

as a band they are not close. Like touring wise, hard working, discography... Nachtmystium has been doing it very hard, hard to knock this output:
2006 - Instinct: Decay / full-length
2005 - Daze West / split
2005 - Visual Propaganda: Live from the Pits of Damnation / dvd
2005 - Live Onslaught 2 / live album
2004 - Eulogy IV / ep

2001 - Unholy Terrorist Cult / demo

2000 - Holocaust Of Eternity / demo
one could argue that Wolves is kind of a "hype" band.

Wolves played shows with many hype bands I remember the general forum jerking them off last year, around the same time as the Ocean album dropped. There was big trend of that kind of stuff around here for awhile on these forums. You would have been surprised. It has seem to die off and the Indie craze has taken over those same kids.

Raphael Saadiq -- The Way I See It
this is shit I really need to hear and have been meaning to.
I really like the Jenny Lewis album, but I guess haven't listened to it enough to give it a spot.
Just saying though, this list is great and really says something against the accused lack of music this year

I'm really surprised to see Raphael Saadiq make a list. I also thought the Breeders broke up in the late 90s.

You're excused, becasue you are awesome and I like ya. :-p
And because you have Frank Turner.
Why thank you.
Frank Turner's solo albums have been surprisingly good (not that Million Dead wasn't enjoyable, but I wouldn't have expected a singer-songwriter project from Turner to turn out quite this listenable. It's a nice surprise).
And Chuck Ragan. Orgcore is ever present.
Ragan and Lucas' album was great. I enjoy Hot Water Music, but I'd rather have the solo and collaborative Ragan, truthfully.
Shit... and Raein! Fuck!
Another nice surprise. I haven't been up on my Skramz.

It hasn't been a stellar year, but it's far from dismal. There's been a considerable amount of good albums released.

Saadiq's soul-revivalist sound was a nice throwback that I adored. As for the Breeders, they went on a hiatus in the mid-'90s but reformed around the early '00s. Their latest is worth a look.
