Grog Shop
Cleveland Heights, OH

The Grog Shop is notorious for shows starting and ending quite late, so I figured we'd take our time to get there, while we were eating before the show I, for some unknown reason went to the venues website and it said "sold out". I was instantly pissed off, was shocked it was sold out (I don't know why I was shocked and didn't expect it?), and kind of upset. We got the venue, waited in the freezing cold and ended up getting two tickets for $20.00, face was $12.00 but I didn't care because I really wanted to go, got off of work, and drove all the way to Cleveland for it. I guess the show did start on time at 9:00 PM but who knows.

We missed Smokescreen and Sean Mic.

Fly Union was decent but for the first couple of songs I wasn't sure if they were actually performing or just walking around, their stage presence wasn't very good at all.

DJ EV spun the whole night and kept the crowd pretty live and was pretty good.

Of course Kid Cudi didn't come out until almost 1:00 AM (12:55 AM) and the show started at 9:00 PM, so everyone was antsy and just wanted him out on stage and I was one of those people. Plain Pat came out and introduced him, he came out and the crowd was really pumped. Cudi has a good stage presence, which will only further help him when he does blow up. He talked a lot and joked with the crowd and it was noticeable that he was happy to be home. He freestyled the end of The Message (a new song) and had a big smile on his face, after T.G.I.F (Chip The Ripper was there and they performed both of their songs together and announced they are going to put out an album together, the crowd went bananas when Chip came out) he talked about moving to New York City and how he scraficed to put his name and his city out there and after Superboo he talked about his High School and the town he was from, the stage was filled with family and friends. It was really good set, Cudi sounded good live and he played with out any hype-men or other jackasses running around and yelling over him, which I really think is a plus. For Man On The Moon and Heaven At Night he requested that the lights be lowered and it set a wonderful tone for the songs, the new songs he played sounded really dope and have me even more exicited for the album. The crowd was pretty energetic and knew more than I expected, it was great to see him in his hometown and I just hope he never forgets where he came from (he told a story about meeting 50 Cent and how's a nice guy and a lot of rappers are putting themselves out there for entertainment but we "fuck with him" because he's real) because this kid showed he's going far tonight.

After the set was over Cudi walked around the stage and shook hands with almost every who was still around the stage. The crowd was pretty good through out and overall it was a great show and I'm glad I got in.

sounds like a cool show. i never heard of any of those dudes but i can appriciate when someone takes the time out to actually describe a show and writes it well. that's what i really come into this forum for. i could just get a set list anywhere. reviews FTW !
