what happened to the previous FOB numbers thread? it was deleted out of nowhere. i think the poster guessed 80,000... i guess we'll see.
like i said in that thread, i'm really not interested in anything to do with the week FOB had, but the music released at the end of that week, specifically TSL and Days Away.

HORRIBLE. Wes Borland is back which makes the guitars sound nice and heavy like in their early years but Fred Durst's voice and lyrics are at an all time worst which is bad since his good stuff sucks.

Those are respectable numbers.
What exactly do they represent?
Total sales, or sales in the past week?
I have a friend jumping on my back saying that the FOB cd had 200,000 preorders, but I am almost sure she is confused, thinking of the often cited 'over 200,000 sales' of Take This to Your Grave'.

Can someone help me out here? I must be the slow one of the group. I signed up, I'm looking at the chart, and I'm trying to figure out the answers to these questions:
1. Does "Power Index" mean how many albums have sold or does it represent something else?
2. What time period does this cover? Right now it says FOB has a Power Index of 20,661. Is that since Sunday?

it says NOW IN: 33.73% on the upper right hand corner so im assuming that the 20,000 or so reported sales are just a third of what they really have sold, if that made any sense. if you go the the rumor mill thing it expects fall out boy to be at #9 with 75-80k sold

please someone tell me what is good about this awful band.....they just seem like theyre trying way too hard, with all the cliche movements..clothes..etc...the kids who were at the fuse performance seemed to average about 15 years old and looked like somethin out of TRL.
i dont see any talent, originality, x-factor, danger, intelligence etc..it is all absent from my perspective. its all fashion.

I still like Fall Out Boy but boy did Frank and the boys call that one, what a stinker.
There are probably 3 tolerable songs on the whole album. "Get Busy Living Or Get Busy Dying" is up there as one of the most annoying songs ive ever heard in my life. Does anyone else think it sounds like a song you'd hear at the end of "Whose Line is it Anyway?"
"I used to obsess over living, NOW I ONLY OBSESS OVER YOOOOOU" hahahahaha

cd has three good songs, in a row.
dance, dance. which just seems really catchy. then sugar, i dont know why, i like it though. and then the non acoustic nobody puts baby. must be the lyrics again.
but is anyone else annoyed by the really lame long named songs? not only are the names ridiculous but they just are not that good. how about the screaming? ha!
this album really is a flop. but then again... how many bands second albums outdo their first ones? a select few. yes i realize this is their third album, same category as thursday but this album doesnt suck, its just... not that great.
i still like fall out boy. great band.

The music is good. When Wes Borland and DJ Lethal are in your band, I mean c'mon.
The lyrics are better than all the previous albums, they actually adress issues instead of doin' it for the nookie and fuckin' shit up. It's politcal.
It sounds a lot like Rage vocally.
The bad part: The vocals don't seem to fit the music. Fred seems to be listening to a different song on his headphones when he recorded each song, because it doesn't sync up with the music behind him.

if they would've just cut the screaming out of "I slept with someone..." it would've been such a good song. and what's up with the mixing? Goddamnit. I had such high hopes for this record. And some of those lyrics...
"We're the best boys..." "Turn off the lights and turn off the shyness."
C'mon!

I still think when all is said and done by the end of 2005 this album will have been certified double platinum.

I wouldnt go that far. Most cd sales drop off anywhere from 35-50% after their first week. Combine that knowledge with the thought that most of all of Fall Out Boy's fans probably bought this album this week. Saying that this cd would go Gold is a longshot in my opinion.

Double platinum? No fucking way. After the hype fades and people realize this cd is fucking terrible, they'll be lucky to go platinum, let alone double platinum. You get aroused like a 14 year old boy watching scrambled porn every time fuckin FOB is mentioned. Get a grip.

What makes you an expert any more than me. I think the openings are there for this album to become a double platinum seller. Im just going by trends in music these days and the amount of hype and promotion that is going into this cd. And for that matter I don't think the hype is all it will end up being for this cd. Inside this AP community FOB is considered huge...outside of this bubble(yes there's a really large world out there) FOB isn't really all that big. Ive never seen a video on MTV yet(to be fair I don't watch all that much MTV anymore so they could have had one get some airplay) and I have never heard FOB on a Top 40 station yet. I was suprised to see the new album in Wal-Mart though so that does tell me that Island is gonna push this band pretty good. Ignoring whether you like a band or not Island has had some damn good success of late turning no-namers into big big stars in the time of two albums(Sum 41, Hoobastank, Saliva) and sometimes even on their debut(The Killers have went double platinum). They have also gotten lesser nown bands some exposure when they cross over from their label to Island(Thrice, Thursday). But to counter my own arguement they have completely neglected some bands with the potential to break out(Injected, Letter Kills, Greenwheel) and even killed some veteran bands by lack of promotion or dropping them(Local H) so it all just depends. I think FOB is gonna get some help from good promotion by Island. Its all a matter of being at the right place at the right time...and I think that right now FOB is the next in line to hit it big.
Maybe not double platinum by the end of the year but certainly platinum and I do think they will eventually turn this double platinum. Sure many people dont think its very good as compared to TTTYG, but there are a whole lot of people who think its just as good if not better. Its all just opinion. If we all liked the same music and had the same opinions the world would be a crappy place to live inhabited by mindless zombies who all think alike. I happen to think that minus a few subpar songs that it is a pretty damn good release and will get them the big boost into the spotlight people thought they deserved from TTTYG. I think that when the charts hit tomorrow there are gonna be alot of media outlets suprised that this thing debuted at #9 overall. People are gonna see this and invest more money in getting more albums in stock at their stores. The sales will inevitably drop for the second week but I think they might level off and stay in the top 50 for about a month.
If the video for "Sugar We're Going Down" gets some bigtime exposure on MTV and accidentally crosses over into VH1 then we can almost bank on gold sometime in the next 2 months. You hit MTV and VH1 you are probably gonna be getting some Top 40 play. It can obviously stop or snowball from there...and with the recent success of pop/punk acts over the past two years like Good Charlotte, Simple Plan, New Found Glory, and the re-emergence of Green Day as a power sales driving band I think FOB is gonna be very successful.
The people who were big fans of FOB since TTTYG came out are definitely the reason why this thing will debut in the top 10. The word of mouth they created can only grow from here. Seeing as how they didn't have a video in regular rotation on MTV and they debuted that well says something for the appeal of these guys. I still kind of wonder why they didn't crank one out and release it about a month in advance of the album's release. That would have helped even more...even though the video is beyond unappealing to just about any demographic...minus the antlered community.
As for the 14 year old watching scrambled porn....its been 10 years since I was 14 and I know where to find the real thing now thank you very much. And if you have any issues with me being a 24 year old male who loves a band you think is for 13 year old girls all I have to say is "its my money and Ill spend it on whatever cds I want to" Just like you can.

I posted on it when I downloaded it, here's the post;
Not related to this in any way (thank God) but anyway, well I downloaded the Limp Bizkit album for laughs right? Well the album is not even funny, in fact it's downright horrible. It was somehow worse then I expected. Wow, I'm dumbfounded. Anybody ever hear the "hardcore" (I do not consider it hardcore, trust me) version Vanilla Ice made of ice Ice Baby? Well every song sounds exactly like that. I apologize to the computer for ever having such horrid noise stored on it. The best part about the album? It's a 7 song EP. 7 songs of crap as opposed to the usuall 16 songs of crap. My judgement might not be the best though because I only could stand 1 minute of every song. I spent more time typing this then listening to it. May God help us all whenever this is released. Recommended for fans of jumping head first over 10th story balconies.
Wow, it turned into an album review, so here's my score. 0/100.

Haha, I suppose I should give it points for only being 7 songs long, and they were in mp3 format as opposed to itunes, so a few points for that as well.
