This thread needs a good bump in the nuts. More people need to take note of this band...

That and that Kid Dynamite tribute's MySpace page (http://www.myspace.com/kiddynamitetribute) just posted No Trigger's cover of "K05-0564."

CellarGhosts

Oh, yes it has! Haha. The track listing is solid. Although, if I'm not mistaken, I Am the Avalanche used to be on it and they appear to be missing now? Unless I missed them in the list of 20+ bands. Which is entirely possible.

They've been writing for a while now, I'm sure. But Nitro is pretty much non-existent so I'm guessing they're searching for a new home. I can't recall anything about them going in-studio, but I could be wrong.

And, for that matter, having two of those guys touring with Set Your Goals on Warped last summer sent them back about four months...

CellarGhosts
03/27/09, 03:09 PM
Ah, I hear ya. Yeah, I had been wondering what was up with Nitro. It'd be cool if Fat picked them up, but I don't know...that's just me hah. And that is true about the SYG tour.

Whatever the case, I'll definitely be happy whenever we finally hear some kind of news on the new album, or a signing.

Y'know, I don't know what exactly is up with Nitro. But Crime in Stereo jumped ship, A Wilhelm Scream had mentioned in a few interviews that shit between them and Nitro was weird around the time of Career Suicide's release, they never started releasing vinyl, A.F.I. catalog sales have finally started to dry up, Guttermouth is on Volcom, Dexter is busy with hot sauce...

I'm really curious to see where they wind up as well. Who the fuck knows. They're a Massachusetts band and Bridge 9 seems to be attempting to sign more melodic bands than previously. I can't see them going with Eulogy given the bad blood with Set Your Goals...But like you said, Fat would be a great fit! Equal Vision might work as well. Or No Idea, even!

But as for Fat? I have a sneaking suspicion that No Trigger's New Bedfuhd buddies will be with Fat before they are. All the signs are there. Fast, technical, melodic punk rock with a buzz. Buddies with the Larry Arms, Lagwagon, Rise Against, etc. Or maybe that's just wishful thinking on my part?

That's odd, ha. I hadn't heard that about AWS's relationship with Nitro was getting weird.

That's true. Bridge 9 might pick them up. I can't really see them going to Eulogy either, but it's possible. I do think No Idea or Fat would be the best options. I don't know exactly why, but it just seems like either of those is where they'd be the most at home.

Haha, could be wishful thinking but who knows. It could happen!

Yeah, I guess they were having a hard time getting in touch with them and such. But Nitro kept insisting that, yes, they did want to release the album.

But I don't think it was so much a strained relationship as...I mean, when was the last time you heard anything about that label? I honestly don't have much in the way of facts, it just seems like a likely thing that the label is going/went the way of the buffalo. And here's the post from A.W.S.'s site to kind of back it up...

"So the next full length will be recorded in January at the Blasting Room with Bill and Jason once again. Once we have the label(s) figured out, you'll hear it here first, but I'd expect the new album in the Spring. (Start searching the pirate mp3 sites now.)"

See what I mean? It's not 100% that they're on Nitro anymore if that's any indicator. I'll try and find the interview where Trev discusses the weirdness.

Lost City Angels had some gripes about the label at Warped Tour a few years ago. "They don't give a shit about a hard-working East Coast band." Meanwhile, yards away, A Wilhelm Scream were selling merch out of a Nitro Records tent, had ads in Alternative Press, et cetra. Haha.

I really want to know what happened with that label. I'm sure it wasn't what led to their downfall, but did anyone else notice that they never started selling vinyl? Adeline sold the A.F.I. releases, JumpStart got A.W.S., and Crime in Stereo never had anything released on vinyl until they hit Bridge Nine. I can't help but thinking they lost some potential revenue there...

Back in the 90's they were one of the strongest mid-level labels. Jugheads Revenge, Vandals, Guttermouth, Sloppy Seconds, AFI and One Hit Wonders. Then they kind of went off into obscurity.

I'm not sure why Dexter let the label go, they were making a resurgence there for awhile. Kung Fu records has also pretty much vanished too.

They were definite powerhouses. They had a few decent acts in the early 00's as well (Rufio, Don't Look Down) and they seemed poised to make a comeback with the signing streak a few years back. Not sure what happened after that...

But I was thinking about Kung-Fu as I wrote that last post about Nitro. I'm not sure what went down, but I do know that shit went down between them and Tsunami Bomb where, essentially, Escalante wanted them to be this shiny, radio-friendly pop-punk band (thus, the drastic sound difference in the production/mix on alot of their last release). I think the other bands on there just kind of faded into obscurity.

Bump for awesome. Stolen from MySpace:

The Bad:
We just had to pull off of our show with Reach The Sky last minute. One of us had a last minute personal conflict with the date and we had to let our booking agent know we couldn't play. But it IS still a RTS reunion so why the hell would you not go just because we weren't playing? You wouldn't! Fucking rip it up! But we will make it up to you guys soon, we promise!

The Good:
We can't get into specifics right now, but solid plans are finally in the works for some new music on our end. The 5 of us are FINALLY in the same place for more than a few weeks so we should be able to actually get something accomplished. More details to come!

Honestly? I had no idea they were playing! Haha. I know my roommate has tickets for the Throwdown every night, so I may go to that instead--especially since I'll most likely be starting to move into a new Boston apartment...But if nothing else is going on? I'll probably go. And peace out after No Trigger. I dig Fireworks, but I've never heard Trapped Under Ice. Shrug.

Trapped Under Ice is tough-guy hardcore, essentially. I haven't heard a lot of their songs, but they're ok I guess, gonna draw alot of the central MA douche hardcore kids though. I love Fireworks too but No Trigger is the main draw since I've never seen them and I would absolutely lose my shit during "Owner Operator" or "Neon National Park"

New songs are really really REALLY awesome. I love this band to the max. The songs seem a lot more like modern heavy pop-punk (if that even makes any fucking sense) as opposed to their old "style" of technical punk rock, but it's all fucking good to me. No Trigger rules hard.

"Commonwealth" is good; sounds like something from Canyoneer I guess. "Tooth" surprised me with how poppy it was, but it's probably the catchiest song they've ever made. hopefully when SYG is done touring with mosh warrior madness they can do another tour with No Trigger

That's confusing as hell to me. Haha. I've never heard Borderlands but...I saw Transit when they opened up for the Wonder Years at the I.C.C. last winter. It was a confusing night as far as the crowd (e.g., moshing to new Wonder Years songs, kids who think A Loss For Words is more than a generic pop-punk band) but the one awesome bit was how all the other bands suffered the fate of "pop-punk moshing" while Transit fans didn't bother and just SANG ALONG!

Imagine that. Liking a band and expressing it by singing along instead of like, y'know, punching somebody in the face. It was pretty rad and solidifed my feeling that they're a band who are a "bright spot" in the scene. And for what it's worth? Late Night Wars and the Stereo State are two other MA bands doin' it right these days. Represent! Or sumpin'.

Honestly, from how vague they're being, it seems more like a "hidden track" versus an actual "bonus track." Haha. I'm just hoping it's something special and not just the Kid Dynamite cover or whatever...

Regardless -- The whole idea of "bonus tracks" has changed substantially over the years. I remember being like, 14 or 15 and having to order the Japanese, German, Australian, etc. versions of various Green Day albums to get my hands on a bonus track or two...

Well, that's the thing though. We do! Haha. It's just parceled out differently. Bonus 7-inches, digital only EPs, free downloads, b-sides to 7" singles, etc.

And quite frankly, I'd rather pay an extra $7 or whatever on iTunes to get five songs that would have normally gone unheard or only have been released in the UK or Japan or wherever unless you shelled out a cool $20+ to hear the album. It's a nice change of pace.

The convenience of iTunes and such is nice. I thought about 7" after I posted it. I think I actually prefer having the extra tracks on a 7" (like Rise did with Cheap Girls, Sharks, Transit) than have to import the CD, just because it is a completely separate thing, instead of another version of something you already own.

Definitely. Boggles my mind that this band isn't more popular. I feel like if they got the right kind of exposure they'd blow up. I can see a lot of kids in the pop-punk/hardcore scene digging them. Or maybe that's just wishful thinking. Either way the band deserves to be huge.
