Alex Kerns - 9 song demo CD

Hey,
I recorded 9 songs and put them out as a demo CD. Most of the songs feature me on drums, guitars, bass, piano, vocals, etc. Some are more stripped down and just guitar and vocals. These are songs that I originally wrote with Lemuria in mind, but at the time Sheena was in Queens and I was in Buffalo, and Jason was off doing something different and I was too impatient and recorded them myself.

You can buy it on my page, or on the Art of the Underground site. It's all the same shopping basket. You can even add things from the Lemuria my space page on there...it's all the same. I'll package it up and ship it to you within the next couple of days.

Thanks for your support, and I'll see some of you very soon on the upcoming Lemuria tour in June!

I'm just gonna interject my own opinions-- they're not nearly as catchy and memorable. The style of the songs has slightly changed, too. There's nothing wrong with that, Propagandhi did the same, and so have countless other bands with each coming album. It's just a bit different from what I'd expect outta them.

I feel like it's got a lot more personality than their other records (which I also enjoyed). Definitely comparable to Tigers Jaw, especially the "monotone" vocals in some places. I am also hearing a whole lot of Pixies musically, something I can absolutely get behind.

Giving the new album a spin for the first time. Four cuts in and I'm not too impressed. I don't hate it, but I definitely don't love it. So far, my overall take on the record is that each of the songs would be awesome if they were like, a minute and a half. Haha. If that makes sense... :unsure:

This is how I feel. Maybe not the last part, but haha. They took a MUCH more mellower approach and I'm finding it more difficult to get their songs stuck in my head now. I guess all I really enjoy is Pleaser. Bloomer is pretty good. Sheena's voice sounds a bit different now too, and I used to have to slightly think about how to play their songs on guitar -- their songs were never actually complex, but now they're very very simple. Not that complexity makes a good record, but it doesn't stick out as intricately creative as what I like from Get Better. Anyway, it's a decent album, but I prefer Get Better.

The new album has grown on me quite a bit with each spin. It sounds like a different band, but I'm more and more okay with that.

It caught me off-guard. I didn't dislike it immensely, it just felt like a dud. But after letting it seep in? I'm diggin' it a bit more. It's kind of "grungy" in a way. However, I really don't like the one song about different girls and such. Other than that, though? It's a slow-grower!
