This might be the best music video ever.
I second that. I mean c'mon, it's like a combination of that Fat Boy Slim video with Sparkle Motion, and for the best song off of the new album. More bands need to have a sense of humor like this instead of all the angst, dark rooms, and people running around following pictures of sheep (it was good the first time for Brand New, but two more videos with the same theme???).
The TBS is really good, in a really strange, scary way.
The Honorary Title's video is good.

Now I get why Victory Records hesitated before posting this new video. Set Phasers To Stun gives a totally different image of the band. This is not usual with Taking Back Sunday, they always used to make pretty serious videos in which they perform in. Now, this one looks like they made it themselves. Wait, did they?
Anyways, I don't think this is a love-or-hate video, but just one not to care about (or perhaps to forget). They were probably tired of shooting so they paid a bunch of kids ten bucks each to dance the best they could.
The only thing I wish now is not to have images of this video when I'll listen to the song again, cause it's a very good one.

From the headline on their website, they at least signed off on it and appear to be proud of it: "Sometimes things are just funny and there is no agenda"
And they're right, and I'm glad they released it.

Well, that TBS video is definitly an experience I never thought I'd have from a music video. I was constantly laughing and saying, "WTF" because it makes no sense at all. Still great though.
And the Rilo Kiley video was great too. Awesome song and we get to see more of Jenny.

I have lost all respect I can possibly have for TBS.
i thought the video was just a joke man
i think TBS released it just to piss of victory or something.
there's no way this is "official" ....they're definately sending out a message with this video.
yes....photographs was kinda bad.
it looked like a ripoff of blink's always during some parts. except much more ghetto.
ironic, tom was the director.
I think they just released it as a joke, have a little fun. I don't think they're sending any hidden messages to any label or management or anything like that. Their website has some sarcastic press release issued by Victory. Video's weird as hell, but it seems they're enjoying it.

The Honorary Title's video is good.
I agree. The new tbs video is rather good but strange too. I enjoyed it. Very funny too. I still do wish they would make another video and actually have a concept/storyline/not the whole video the band peforming. I know they have it in them and they are creative enough. Hopefully slowdance or bonus mosh. Ahh we'll see.

I really liked The Honorary Title's video. The feeling fit the song very well.
I also liked Rilo Kiley's video even though I've never been the biggest fan of the band... maybe i should check them out more.
and the TBS video... well that was interesting to say the least.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
TAKING BACK SUNDAY WILL NO LONGER PERFORM IN MUSIC VIDEOS
Band states all videos moving forward will be interpretive dance routines based on their snappy guitar parts and haunting melodies...
Los Angeles, CA May 2005: Taking Back Sunday recently decided that they no longer wish to perform in any music videos. "They take a REALLY long time to film and it's usually pretty boring unless there's a hot make-up girl to flirt with," states bassist Matt Rubano. They have decided to use their off time on tour dates around the globe to seek out the best Interpretive Dance Troupes they can find to get the message of the music across in a new and exciting way.
"Everyone knows I'm way more into dance than playing guitar anyway," states guitarist/dancer Eddie Reyes. He adds, "A lot of the moves from this first video for Set Phasers To Stun were from my arsenal. My famed spin isn't even in there because this troupe of 'so called' Hungarian dancers couldn't master it properly." The video he is referring to is for the first track off of their gold selling album WHERE YOU WANT TO BE which includes a performance by the Troup De Pozolo De Zav, of the Hungary Zavs.
Vocalist Adam Lazzara was ecstatic about the decision to ditch the old medium. "The make-up we always had to wear to look 'video worthy' was having an adverse reaction with my hair product. We had to choose between the videos or the hair so the videos had to go."
Taking Back Sunday is looking forward to auditioning new dancers in the coming months as they continue to write new material. "We have a few auditions set up in Las Vegas this week when we roll through with the Dancing Betty Showgirl Retirement Home. We should definitely be able to find some new prospects there," adds drummer Mark O'Connell. "I'll be celebrating my birthday there as well, so they have a few surprises lined up for me if you know what I mean."
The band is positive video music channels will embrace the new direction. "We've always set the trends rather than followed them," mentions guitarist Fred Mascherino. "The trick is going to be to think of the NEXT thing, because in about six month the only videos on the air will be interpretive dance videos so we'll be busy planning our next move."

i love how launch doesn't work on my computer which really pisses me off. i can't watch the houston calls or taking back sunday video. anyone know the way around this?
I have the same problem too. And what's even worse is that the TBS official page wont even come up on my computer on any of the 3 browsers I use(Firefox,IE, and Netscape).
BTW.... How did you like that getting OWNED by me in Fantasy baseball a few weeks back? You are only two games up on me in the standings to start the week and im bitch slapping the guy im playing this week 9 to 1.
So with my lovely stat tracker add on the up to the second standings has got me bumped over you by a couple games. You may need to break out some cheat codes if you want to stop me.
Taking Back Sunday isn't performing in their videos anymore. They are hiring dance troups.
They sent everyone on their mailing list an email, and they probably posted about it on their site.

hahah tbs video = fucking funny.
i dont understand how you can call this a "bad video"
they werent making it thinking wow this is a really good video.
its not supposed to be life changing...
its a joke.
ha ha?
not saying i wouldnt like to see a good concept video. the whole 'we paint our sins on the ceiling' part could have been kick ass in a video with a storyline.
it wouldnt work for me when It ried it with firefox but it worked with interner explorer
Still no success here with either of them.
I always get operation timed out...but anything else I go to works.

the first right thing tbs has done since tell all your friends.
and the whole "we're not performing in our videos anymore, we're hiring dance troops" read between the lines (plug for our new video). just like performing in their videos got old (maybe bc they suck performing), so will this eventually. the email served the purpose of making people in the mailing list go "huh?" and made sure they clicked on the link. it was straight irony peeps.

WOW....TBS really lucked into this video.......A non commissioned video just given to them and victory, and its so laughable that the damn thing is almost perfect. Its completely different than every other video thats out there, interesting to watch (at least the first time, i dont know how many more times i could watch that). I was reading about this video a couple days ago and how victory didnt know what to do with......apparently they made the right move, because this silly video will only generate way more press than a regular ole commissioned video would have garnered.

i'm all for darkness and depression (remember: it's down the road, not across the street), but seriously, this is the most lighthearted shit i've seen in forever. no car crashes or guitar breaking. you know at least 80% of you woulda hated a performance video. maybe this is a statement to victory, maybe it's not. either fuckin way: have a quick laugh, or at least a smirk, and then go back to overannalyzing music.
if you'll excuse me, i have to go bullshit my way through school.

correct me if i am wrong, but when i read the press release about this video, it was said that the video arrived at the victory office, sent from the dance 'troupe'...i thought taking back sunday was blown away by the fact that people actually did this, so they chose to release it.... i believe jared is right in saying that taking back sunday had NO part in this whatsoever.....tell me if i'm wrong, but i think thats how this whole thing went down...

OK, I really think the thing about ONLY doing dance videos is a joke. Maybe I'm crazy, but that doesn't even make sense. It's a damn joke and the video is hillarious.
I don't know if anyone agrees with me but I think they were trying to show how much we all DEEP DOWN really do LIKE the little girls. That lead one is a cutie. Oh my scene points are gonna take a pedophile level hit for this one.

If you read the TBS e-mail it's pretty obvious that they're joking..
"We have a few auditions set up in Las Vegas this week when we roll through with the Dancing Betty Showgirl Retirement Home. We should definitely be able to find some new prospects there," adds drummer Mark O'Connell.
That doesn't sound very serious or realistic now, does it?
"The trick is going to be to think of the NEXT thing, because in about six month the only videos on the air will be interpretive dance videos so we'll be busy planning our next move."
Starting to notice the fact it's a joke?
It's pretty obvious and I don't know how most of you people didn't realise it.. :S It kinda ruins it when you have to explain that it's a joke to people..
I thought it was the bassist in the video too? No one apart from a guy earlier in the post mentioned it, but it does look like him and would make sense if it was.
