How do you listen?

When you first start getting into a band, what do you go for first? For example their best album, latest album, or first album. I often find myself trying to go in chronological order and I'm wondering if I should try and change this strategy.

With me I generally don't have a strategy.
Usually to be honest, if I like a song I hear from them then I will download that song and then a few others which I notice are the most popular by them when I search for them on anything like google or whatever is on their myspace.
Then if I really like them, I do what you do and go back into chronological order.

I usually start with the magnum opus album, then if I liked that then I start from the first album and work my way up. Sometimes I'll even begin with a greatest hits compilation, depending on the band.

Just go with the album that has the tracks that caught your ear. Then go from there.

Everyone has opinions on what a bands best album could be. You may or may not agree.

Take recommendations or research to see what their best or most acclaimed is.

I usually go with whatever someone suggests if I trust that person's music taste. If not I'll either go with their latest or whatever's rated the highest on sputnik or Metal Archives.

I usually go with suggestions and than explore they're discography.

I listened to what most people say is a band's best album(s) and then I don't really explore any of their other stuff.

If somethings recommended I'll go with that....or I'll just check out a couple albums. Kind of like skimming through a book to see if it's good.
