this is true...it still doesn't declare the fact that these are good bands tho. granted, that alot of the bands that we listen to inherit the styles, the vocals, melody, lyrics...etc. and also, realize that as the generations gap, it's harder to touch on the older bands as our personal varieties and styles mesh. but still, who's to say people ten years or so after the beatles we're out with their last cd as a band didn't say, you know what? without all that press, the beatles we're just another halfway decent rock band...they're not bad...just not that classic. i'll still take a beach boy's cd over any of these bands anyday.

Personally, I'd probably say the Beatles though. I just don't know why so many people love them. I think a lot of kids who claim to love them today are just being pretentious. They think liking the Beatles makes them musically rounded or something. They should just shut up and admit that they only like GC and Simple Plan. I know there are kids who genuinely like them. I also understand that a lot of my favorite bands might not be around if there had not been the Beatles. But like DJ said, that doesn't mean I have to like them. I simply appreciate them I'd say Led Zeppelin is my favorite out of those just because the guitar riff in "Black Dog" is probably my favorite riff of all time.

"They were the first band" and "White Album" doesn't refute shit. LZ and PF could play and write songs in circles around the Beatles. Bluesy-hard rock and psychadelic/art rock/crazy shit that Floyd came up with is much harder to do than the typical pop/rock the Beatles came up with.

I missed this whole argument last night, but I don't see how anyone could sit here and dispute the creativity of the Beatles. You can say someone else would've come along and did it later all you want, that doesn't make it true. No one said anyone has to like them, there's plenty of bands that I think were/are extremely good at what they do that I just don't enjoy listening to. I just don't see how anyone could listen to something like The White Album, Sgt. Peppers, Rubber Soul, Revolver, etc and tell me that they don't respect them at all, and that they 'suck'. Saying a band sucks is pretty harsh, and plenty of bands warrant it. The Beatles aren't one of them, you're out of your mind if you think so.

this is true...it still doesn't declare the fact that these are good bands tho. granted, that alot of the bands that we listen to inherit the styles, the vocals, melody, lyrics...etc. and also, realize that as the generations gap, it's harder to touch on the older bands as our personal varieties and styles mesh. but still, who's to say people ten years or so after the beatles we're out with their last cd as a band didn't say, you know what? without all that press, the beatles we're just another halfway decent rock band...they're not bad...just not that classic. i'll still take a beach boy's cd over any of these bands anyday.

I love pink floyd and zeppelin, jimmy and plant were amazing. The Beatles I wasnt a big fan of. I loved The Zombies way more for some reason. Beatles were still badass.
