yeah i really love how easy it is to relate to their music. i think far too many people make ridiculous conclusions about them because they're a christian metalcore band. if they gave them a listen, they'd realize they're better than most of the bands in their genre, christian or not.

I also enjoy "good" hardcore bands like Between The Buried and Me, Dillinger Escape Plan, and Underoath (call them Christcore if you wish).

Music is not about who is more talented, it is not about record sales (OK, it is to a certain extent.), it is not about how much fame you can build, music is about making that connection with the artist. If that is SP for you, thats awesome. If is TDWP, or Brokencyde, or Aiden, or Breathe Carolina, or Kanye West, does it really matter? No, the point is that music is each person's opinion. :shrug: i just think from every standpoint of music that Smashing Pumpkins obviously blow away The Devil Wears Prada. Its' not that they play chirstian metalcore; they play BAD christian metalcore, which just makes it worse. lyrically, musically, every aspect of smashing pumpkins is better than TDWP. i don't even listen to the smashing pumpkins; i don't have a single one of their songs on my computer or own a single one of their CD's, but i still realize that & it's sad that someone would think to compare 2 bands that are so ridiculously different, especially one that isn't even any good in it's own genre, not to mention nothing compared to probably one of the most influential bands of the last 20 years or so.

:shrug: i just think from every standpoint of music that Smashing Pumpkins obviously blow away The Devil Wears Prada. Its' not that they play chirstian metalcore; they play BAD christian metalcore, which just makes it worse. lyrically, musically, every aspect of smashing pumpkins is better than TDWP. i don't even listen to the smashing pumpkins; i don't have a single one of their songs on my computer or own a single one of their CD's, but i still realize that & it's sad that someone would think to compare 2 bands that are so ridiculously different, especially one that isn't even any good in it's own genre, not to mention nothing compared to probably one of the most influential bands of the last 20 years or so.

my bad dude. i did not mean to make you feel like i was going off on you. some pent up anger from other threads lol. i like both bands, and the point i was trying to make is that music is more about personal connection rather than what is deemed better. the idea that certain bands are better than one another is sort of ridiculous on its own merit though because again it is all opinion. i am not arguing that TDWP is a much better band than SP, I am simply saying that some people can connect with TDWP over SP, and that is cool too.

I just realized you are from Dayton, OH which is where TDWP is from right? Does that explain why you need to defend them. People bash all sorts of bands I like on here but I rarely find the need to defend them. They are a great live band though. I saw them open for Chiodos twice and they were so full of energy and stoked to be playing

yeah i saw they play with Maylene once too, and that was a good time. Chiodos live is fantastic, i just saw them again last month and that was incredible. them and anberlin are probably my two favorite live bands. but i still havent seen norma jean, the chariot, incubus, defotnes, tool, and a lot of my other favorites so the jury is still out on the best live band i have seen.

Why do you refuse to listen to older music? Mainstream music was actually good in the 60s and 70s unlike it is today. I have pretty much only been listening to older bands for the last two months and I am surprised by how consistently amazing that stuff is.The majority of bands that influenced the bands you like are probably more that 14 years olds. Refusing to listen to music because it is old is just plain dumb. It does kind of explain why you think Dance Gavin Dance is one of the best bands ever. Most older music is better than most of the music nowadays
