great book.
My favorite by him is Invisible Monsters, and I'm going to have to check out this new one.
also great.. i would imagine it'd be toughing writing a book from a woman's point of view, being a man and all..

Well at least he has the same sexual preference as straight women.
Invisible Monsters was probably my least favorite by him, I liked Survivor best.

i've started reading the new book and so far i'm really enjoying it. i've read every book he has written and so far survivor is my favorite. he is a really good speaker too, i heard him speak a couple of years ago at a barnes and nobel, so amazing.

palahniuk is one of the worst popular writers i've ever read.
It really all depends on what you're into. I mean, what you're feeling and thinking at a certain time is going to affect everything you do. A lot of kids turn to mediums such as poetry, literature, and music for an escape. Personally, I love him for his cynicism, outrageousness, and humor. But at the same time, being forced to read Hawthorne, Esquivel, Conrad, and other "classic" American novelists' work, I find myself questioning why they're considered the "great" novels over authors like Palahnuik, Vonnegut, etc.
They've got to be doing something right...

I love Palahniuk and Survivor is probably my favorite, although I hated Diary and I hear his new one isn't great.

I haven't read much of his stuff, but I just saw Fight Club and was very impressed, if a little disturbed.
Also, "Guts (http://www.seizureandy.com/stuff/guts.html)" is pure gold.

Ha. Same here.
I still love his style, though.

I thought that one was hysterical, but a bunch of people I know kept on talking about how disgusting it was.

'Guts' is crazy! I guess on his Diary tour, he traveled all over the world and dozens of people passed out during his reading of 'Guts.' And on the subject of favorite authors...Jack Kerouac

Survivor is one of the best books i've ever read, i love it
i liked fight club a lot but to me the film was better, which is weird as i can't think of many other (if any) films that were better than hte book they were based on

Vonnegut wrote Cat's Cradle which was amazing. If that is scene oh well.
The best writers are Steinbeck, Terry Prachett, Bradbury, and douglas adams

A great author who deserves a lot of respect. His new book of short stories sounds quite disturbing. I tried reading one and I couldn't finish. Their gut-wrenching.

the only reason he is popular is because he wrote fight club. his stories are fucked up.
For some reason I dont feel like reading a story about a kid who wants to get his ass sucked by a pool filter while jacking off at the bottom of the pool only to get his large intestine sucked out of his body.
but hey, he's a scene author and many people will read his shit for that fact alone.
I will give him this much though. I laughed at his stories.

Wait...is Palahniuk gay? I never knew that...
I just recently got into him. Fight Club has always been my favorite movie, and a while ago I picked up Choke on a whim. I finished it in 3 days (the fastest I've ever read a book). So far, I've read Choke, Lullaby, Survivor, and Invisible Monsters, and I'm about halfway through Haunted. Fight Club and Diary will definitely be finished by the end of the summer.
As for him being a "scene" author...doesn't mean he's not fucking incredible.

see, it's funny because after I finish reading one of his books i get the feeling that the world CAN BE a really fucked up place, and that there's a lot of fucked up things and people in it, but all in all there is hope. I think "Choke" would be the best example of this. Probably my favorite of his books, it ended on a very uplifting note for me.

Vonnegut is an amazing author. Cat's Cradle changed my perspective on shit.
And i just finished Lullaby a week ago and i give it 4 spicy meat balls (Out of 5).
