Rocky Votolato (http://www.purevolume.com/rockyvotolato)- I don’t think I need to say how amazing this guy is. His music is really spectacular indie-acoustic with a country vibe thrown in. These videos (http://www.lawrence.com/turnpike/archive/2003-08-21/) reminded just how much I love his stuff. His voice is unique and flows with the music so well. All the songs have such a distinct mood, and Suicide Medicine is a perfect album to listen to while traveling and looking out the window, it just fits. Please give Rocky a try, I think you’ll like.
The Pale Pacific (http://www.purevolume.com/thepalepacific)- Gravity Gets Things Done was a terrific record and I have been highly anticipating new material from these guys. The new EP, Rules Are Predictable, more than satisfies that craving. They really have really mastered their sound and it is so enjoyable. I cannot wait for a new full length, it should be outstanding. Be on the lookout for these guys, especially if you like Death Cab.
Cavil at Rest (http://www.purevolume.com/cavilatrest)- I recommended these guys much earlier this year, but they remain my favorite unsigned band. Their pop-rock sound is so entrancing and so moving. I’ve been listening to the three demos on purevolume for too long now, but they are all superb. Please give these guys a listen, especially if you like bands from the Seattle scene. If these guys get picked up and handled correctly, along with putting out more material like those demos, they will be big, very big. One of their songs is featured on my Myspace profile, and I am constantly getting comments and messages asking who the band is.
