I hated them. Anyone else go to a cliqueish school?
let's see there were the
"stage kids" = The very very large group of Nu Metal/ Mall Goth kids (later scene kids) who all hung out on the big concrete stage in the courtyard of our school . They were all morons and everyone in our school hated them. A girl overdosed on Exctacy and there was a race riot on that stage haha.

"Bench Kids" = The large group of of Crust Punk / Hardcore / Indie /Ska kids would sit at benches next to the stage (the group i had the most friends in) we would fuck with the stage kids alot (going as far as picking up a bench and putting on the stage as a symbolic gesture of our distane for them) They were known for doing weird shit like shitting in a jar and putting it in the middle of the school.

Baseball Players = all hung out with eachother , were all complete douchebags who would dip in class and the teachers let them do whatever they want because they're the best Baseball team in the Tampa Bay area.

and of course there were the wiggers , black kids (alot of cool black kids at my school) , "preps" , Band dorks (alot were also Bench Kids who listened to Ska) , The "goody goody kids" , and of course there were alot kids who had friends in different groups and would go between them like myself

There are cliques in every other grade than mine. I've attributed it to the overwhelming apathy that my grade exudes. In the end, it's nice though. Everyone is friendly with everyone else, for the most part. I mean there are the core groups, but overall, it's not that clique-ish at all.

My school, or at least this year isn't so bad. I'm a sophomore and people are finally starting to grow out of the purely clique-y mentality that freshmen seem to have generally. Everyone just has a group of friends, it's not like we won't talk to each other at all but it's still fairly distant. A TON of 'preps' who, for the most part, are bitchy people who keep their distance but there are actually nice ones too who talk to everyone. Other than the preps, there are the music department kids, theater department kids, and after that, people generally seem to mix with anyone they want to be with.

The high school I went to before my current one was black kids (( 55% of the school )), hispanics (( 35% of the school )) whites and asians (( 5% each )) Because I was kind of in a not so good part of town they were all gangster wanna bes. most of the white kids were wiggers. well the like 20 white kids that were in the school. most were wiggers, some were complete stoners and hardly ever showed up, and the rest were anime freaks that dressed up as much as they could with our dress code. We always had ' gang ' fights. Those kids werent in gangs. It was stupid.

The school I am at now has the basic cliques. Jocks and preps (( our cheerleaders are so ugly )), the blacks and the mexicans whoa re always the ones who are fighting, and then the others I guess you could say. The others would be where the scene, punk, emo, skater and anything along those lines fall into. They pretty much hang under the trees in our second quad.

Wanna be gangsters: My town is 7,000 people. If you think your a thug, in most cases you just have fucking shit for grammar and you dress with baggy clothes. You're not a gangster. This group consists of redneck white kids and mexicans

Traditional Mexicans: Mexican cowboys that listen to traditional latino music. 100% mexican

Drama/speech team kids: Kids that are in the plays and participate in forensics. Mostly white.

Some cliques from my school:
Factory Bros : They are all the same person. They all love abercrombie and colt 45. Can usually be seen at the front of the cafeteria being obnoxious and throwing things. They are easily identified due to their tendency to yell everything they say. Usually composed of soccer and football players, although the rare hockey guy squeaks in. All suffer from severe "I can't have a good time without alcohol" syndrome.
Factory Sluts : The female counterpart to the FBs. Once again, all the same person. Rarely wear pants, and have "hooked up" with at least 6 FBs. Can usually be seen at the front of the cafeteria laughing at the obnoxiousness of the FBs. Easily identified by their tendency to almost never say anything with any importance or depth. Also suffer from ICHAGTWA syndrome.
Soccer-Rugby girls : Although good friends with the FSs, they do not look alike. The SR girls nearly always wear sweats tucked into their socks and some sort of team hoodie. They party with the factory people, and are known as the "funny" ones. (This is because most of them are not hot) They are incredibly rude to anyone they used to play on a city team with but isn't on the school team. Will bump you agressively in the hall if you get too close.
Hockey Boys :Basically like the FBs, only less douchey, obnoxious, and stupid.
Gangstas : Self-explanitory. Can be seen under the stairs by the cafeteria.
Brooksiders : The kids who have to ride the bus/drive for almost half an hour ot get to school. They live way out of the city. The ones who do drive either drive old as shot cars or huge trucks. The guys wear flannel and ballcaps, the girls dress like 14 year olds. Favourite activities include four-wheelin', huntin', and gettin' drunk in the woods while listening to Kenny Chesny and Brad Paisley. Can usually be heard saying "Git 'er done."
Multicultural Kids : While they claim to be accepting of everyone's culture, they deathstare you if you attempt to enter their domain if you are white. Composed mostly of kids who cannot formulate fully comprehensive sentences in the english language. Can be seen usually in the ESL pod.
Arabs: While some migrate between other cliques, they mostly belong to this one. Somewhere between 50 and 60 percent of my school's population is made up of Arabs. They are all related, and they always take one of their own to prom.
Sketchballs and Halldwellers : They are all sketchy and hide in the hallways. They all like Evanescence and Anime. Can usually be seen wearing copious amounts of black and clothing that doesn't fit properly.
Musical Kids : Partake in the musical every year. The musical kids are mostly art snobs and the majority of them are also band kids. Can be seen hanging out at the music room whenever possible talking about musical and kissing the music teacher's ass. Probably the most cliquey of the cliques, and definitely the most annoying. The musical kids group is always full of drama and stupid shit.

My school is weird. racially its about 45-45 asian-hispanic and then about 5% white, 2% black and 3% other.

during lunch, we all have tables the first table consisting of senior guy athletes; the next is my table i don't really fit with these kids but my best friends sit here so i stay, they're like the party kids; behind is a group that calls themselves the aluminums (like the plastics from "Mean Girls"), that shit is rediculous, they're like kids who think they're amazing including the president; after them is the group of asians who do well in school but are still cool; and the rest of the tables are a combination of the other kids, all intermingled.

i'm in all AP classes, so all my classes are with asians. i don't mind, but i'm kinda segregated from everyone else, stuck between the groups.

Jocks - Mostly white and Persian on the water polo and football teams; they are usually douchebags but sometimes are smart and nice. They get the white girls.
Persians - Half of my school; the douchiest ones wear expensive T-shirts with like gold and angel wings and fancy fonts. They drive Escalades and BMWs and spend all of their time on their Blackberries. They are known for having wild parties, doing hookah, and being related to each other. Most people don't like them but sometimes you get some nice ones.
Wannabe fob Koreans - Koreans who were born here but cut their hair in fob/emo styles, wear thick-rimmed glasses and A&F or Hollister, and slack off but still get good grades.
Tree Freshmen - Freshmen who sit under a big tree on the front lawn; they listen to emo music like All Time Low and Paramore but deny being emo. They are usually annoying but some are adorable.

This was fun. And to the Pali people, half my school went to TAO too. Fucking ravers

My school is pretty weird. I really hope I don't sound like a prick saying this, but there's the "popular" group, which people say that I'm part of, but it's split into the kids who are actually cool, and us, the ones that play Runescape and Xbox too much. But we're all friends.

Musically, everyone in my little "clique" has either great taste, bad taste, or no taste. One of my friends is into punk music, another one of my friends is into a lot of indie and techno, a few of them are into the Devil Wears Prada/Chiodos post-hardcore stuff, and the others just listen to whatever song they like, without getting into the band very much.

But we're all a great group of guys, even though we're all really different. But every one of us is pretty "jocky" too, in the sense that we all played Football, Baseball and Basketball. And a few of us (including me), play Lacrosse.

Overall though, all of the guys in my school can usually be good friends, mostly because even though people percieve the so-called "popular" kids in one way, people actually find out we're all just as much losers as anyone else. We used to have Halo system links on in daily basis in middle school, have airsoft wars, skate a lot (though that has died out), and of course, the Runescaping. But we're not generically stupid like most "jocks" are. All of us are in Honors and AP courses at our school. It's actually usually the "Anime nerds" that get bad grades.

However, girls at my school are pretty vicious. There's really only two groups of girls at my school. Dancers (MPHS is big on Dance, as our little town of Ahwatukee has almost 4 different dance studios), which include the "actual dancers" that are in the Senior or Junior Company, who can all be easily identified by their Senior and Junior Company dance jackets. Those are the girls that my group of friends are friends with.

Though some of them are ridiculously mean, the other ones make up for it by being some of the nicest, quietest girls on the earth. Then there are the "not so much" dancers who took Dance as an elective, over doing P.E. They can be identified by their Dance t-shirts, that they wear in an obvious effort to get the attention they think they deserve. These girls are the ones that are your generic mean girls. They're the ones that get into fights with each other, go out drinking and smoking, and other things. Plus, they're constantly seeking attention, which gets on everyones nerves.

Besides that, you've gout your generic jocks, nerdy soccer kids and creepy anime nerds. And you've got the douchebags. Oh, the douchebags. Movies on High School always show the popular kids picking on nerds, but in my school everyone makes fun of the douchebags. These are the kids that get bad grades but insist that they're smart, the just "don't try hard enough". These are the kids that get all of their clothes from No Fear and whatever ridiculously expenisive department store they can go to, to show off that they have a rich family. They are constantly seen making fun of kids they think are beneath them, to impress others. They aspire to be the generic popular group, but no one really cares.

(Quick Note: General clothing styles at my school ranges from any skate shop. Zumiez, Utility Boardshop or PacSun for guys to Urban Outfitters and Forever 21 for girls. The generic shoe for my school, or even Arizona as a state, are Vans, for boys and girls. Although I prefer to wear slippers and Castros because they feel much more comfy.)

To be honest, most of this thread is just people exaggerating, really. The idea of HS "cliques" is perpetuated by Hollywood, the media, etc., so impressionable teenagers will buy into the idea that they belong to a certain "group" pretty easily. To make a long story short, high school isn't really like this at all unless you make it out to be. At my high school at least there weren't really that many definable groups.

Preps (girls)- They all come from wealthy famililes, wear expensive clothes, a lot are jewish, play field hockey and lacrosse, party a lot, and take mainly GT/AP classes.

Gangster (because I can't think of any other name)- they technically aren't gangsters since we don't live in the city and very few people are low-income. They wear baggy clothes, most are black, they play basketball and football (as long as they get a 2.0 gpa), take regular classes, annoying.

The girls who hang out with the 'gangsters'- mainly black, don't play sports, take regular classes, talk really loud and obnoxiously with their incorrect grammar and spelling (lyke dis)

Wannabe black- guys who try and act like they're black, play basketball and football. take regular classes, annoying

Asians (guys)- All they care about is getting a perfect SAT score and going to Harvard. Will have taken nearly every AP class by the time they graduate, obsessed with anime, in orchestra

Asians (girls)- Aren't as nerdy as the guys, but still take all high level classes, in orchestra. Most are very nice.

Nerds (mainly guys)- the Asian guys can also fit in this. They take high level classes, watch/read anime, some play sports, aren't quite to the same extreme about getting into an ivy league college.

Band kids/Smart people- Large group of people. Guys and girls, about half are in band, take high level classes, but aren't as obsessed about grades as the asian guys, we all end up being in the same classes, easy to get along with, many play sports.

Theater kids- some can also fit in the group above, take high level classes, talk really loud, some can be really obnoxious, start doing improv at random times.

Dumb blondes- they do cheerleading, aren't very smart, or if they are, they act like they aren't. sluts.

Stoners- self explanatory, hook up with the dumb blondes

Metal Kids: We have a legitimate metal kid population, all with lame black pants w/ chains, and wardrobes that consist of the rotation of slipknot/dimmu borgir/h.i.m./5 other bands t-shirts every day

Scene Kids: This is nearly half of my whole fucking school. Everyone listens to fucking 3oh3 and other scene ass shit. Everyone brags about their "awesome" music tastes, and all are prats. Basically wear scene band t-shirts and tight pants.

Choir/Drama Kids: Are much more tolerable at my school then at others. Really great group of people, obviously excessively dramatic, and somewhat annoying, but still good overall.

Footballers/Jocks: lame, but not too bad. Not too many bullies at my school, but the ones that exist are typical. Meatheads.

Sluts: This is the largest subdivision of females. Wear nasty clothing, are WAY too loud, act like biznatches.

Preps: Huge group, but nice and not that bad.

Band/Orch Kids: This might include me, but w/e. These kids are pretty fine, but are way too uppity about band.

Nerds:
a) super gross nerds: the really horrible to look at people who are also dumb and mean. They make out with each other all over and plague us all.
b) metal nerds: similar to metal kids, but much lamer. They pretty much clog up hallways and also are overly affectionate.
c) funny nerds: lots of people are smart and funny and somewhat acceptable, which is nice. These people overlap with the music/drama groups

My group: honors/AP kids, all really into quality music, liberal minded. idk where that puts me, but I spend my time with a lot of different groups I suppose. [shrug]

When i was at secondary school (thats what we call high school) we didn't have defined cliques. We had different groups, but within them were very different people. With the group I was in we had a couple of borderline emo's, a goth, a couple of geeks, a couple of mountain bikers and a couple of footballers.

Overall the whole year would go around in co existing groups, but would join together as a whole is any single member of the year was threatened from someone in another year or another school.

There are cliques in every other grade than mine. I've attributed it to the overwhelming apathy that my grade exudes. In the end, it's nice though. Everyone is friendly with everyone else, for the most part. I mean there are the core groups, but overall, it's not that clique-ish at all.

Some cliques from my school:
Factory Bros : They are all the same person. They all love abercrombie and colt 45. Can usually be seen at the front of the cafeteria being obnoxious and throwing things. They are easily identified due to their tendency to yell everything they say. Usually composed of soccer and football players, although the rare hockey guy squeaks in. All suffer from severe "I can't have a good time without alcohol" syndrome.
Factory Sluts : The female counterpart to the FBs. Once again, all the same person. Rarely wear pants, and have "hooked up" with at least 6 FBs. Can usually be seen at the front of the cafeteria laughing at the obnoxiousness of the FBs. Easily identified by their tendency to almost never say anything with any importance or depth. Also suffer from ICHAGTWA syndrome.
Soccer-Rugby girls : Although good friends with the FSs, they do not look alike. The SR girls nearly always wear sweats tucked into their socks and some sort of team hoodie. They party with the factory people, and are known as the "funny" ones. (This is because most of them are not hot) They are incredibly rude to anyone they used to play on a city team with but isn't on the school team. Will bump you agressively in the hall if you get too close.
Hockey Boys :Basically like the FBs, only less douchey, obnoxious, and stupid.
Gangstas : Self-explanitory. Can be seen under the stairs by the cafeteria.
Brooksiders : The kids who have to ride the bus/drive for almost half an hour ot get to school. They live way out of the city. The ones who do drive either drive old as shot cars or huge trucks. The guys wear flannel and ballcaps, the girls dress like 14 year olds. Favourite activities include four-wheelin', huntin', and gettin' drunk in the woods while listening to Kenny Chesny and Brad Paisley. Can usually be heard saying "Git 'er done."
Multicultural Kids : While they claim to be accepting of everyone's culture, they deathstare you if you attempt to enter their domain if you are white. Composed mostly of kids who cannot formulate fully comprehensive sentences in the english language. Can be seen usually in the ESL pod.
Arabs: While some migrate between other cliques, they mostly belong to this one. Somewhere between 50 and 60 percent of my school's population is made up of Arabs. They are all related, and they always take one of their own to prom.
Sketchballs and Halldwellers : They are all sketchy and hide in the hallways. They all like Evanescence and Anime. Can usually be seen wearing copious amounts of black and clothing that doesn't fit properly.
Musical Kids : Partake in the musical every year. The musical kids are mostly art snobs and the majority of them are also band kids. Can be seen hanging out at the music room whenever possible talking about musical and kissing the music teacher's ass. Probably the most cliquey of the cliques, and definitely the most annoying. The musical kids group is always full of drama and stupid shit.

every group hates the other. There was a fight every day. Kids got there head smashed throught he glass of the vending machines on a regualr basis, chairs being used in fights was customary, and if you didnt end a fight with a bloody nose and a black eye, some other kid made sure you did.

I got a big school and it's not THAT clique but I would lying if I said we didn't have any. Here's most of the major ones:

Rednecks-These people take up a majority of my school. It's completely acceptable to have a confederate flag on a raised truck parked in the student parking lot that takes up two spaces because it's so big. Boots, those jackets that are brown that everyone wears, belt buckles, country music and being religious complete a redneck at our school. We are so redneck, we even have a rodeo club.
Football players-Texas is all about football. They act like they're hot shit. Most of the football player can be categorized as rednecks as well.
Band kids-I swear the band is a cult.
Scene kids-Most of them are in the 9-10 grade They wear horrible band tees and get bad extensions. Sums them up pretty well.
Stoners/hipsters-Gets high while listening to Radiohead. Often smell like smoke and wears American Apparel. Parties too much and brags about how wasted they get frequently.
Party people-Parties a lot. Typically gets in trouble at school at one point for being drunk at school or smoking weed in the bathroom. Goes downtown to clubs or to house parties all the time. Usually the girls are always complaining about boys and the boys are always talking about sex.


The rest of the people mix with each other or hang out with their own little group of friends that are just normal.

My school is not even seperated, like everyone knows each other.
Reason being we all have uniforms so no one really judges too quickly so we all just blend in with each other.
But the only flaw is if someone doesn't like someone, drama arises everywhere.
Generally I just mix myself with everyone. Everyone is chill and usually don't care much about what you do.

hm, mine's not too complicated clique-wise:

Preps: pretty obvious- all just wear their Ugg boots and North face jackets. do sports and are in honors/AP and get good grades, but only cause about 90% of them cheat on everything they can. they all claim to be great friends with each other, but they rarely hang out together, and the majority of their conversations don't exceed complimenting each others outfits, how rich they are, etc.
Ghetto kids: live in the one poor part of town; wear tight jeans and Nikes and constantly steal each others girlfriends/boyfriends/best friends, thus resulting in a lot of fights.
Stoners: dirty and skip school a lot. get bad grades and most always drop out.
Scene/Emo: the obvious band tees and dyed black hair and chucks. lots of eyeliner and bitching.
Band: the goofy kids who wear mom jeans and eat lunch in the band room rather than the cafe; usually get low-ish grades and don't give a fuck about you if you're not in band.

I don't see how you can go to a school and not be in a "clique." I don't think that "cliques" have to be defined as "bench kids" or "stage kids." Everybody has a group of friends that they hang out with in high school. Isn't that your "clique?" That's mainly how I see it.

I got a big school and it's not THAT clique but I would lying if I said we didn't have any. Here's most of the major ones:

Rednecks-These people take up a majority of my school. It's completely acceptable to have a confederate flag on a raised truck parked in the student parking lot that takes up two spaces because it's so big. Boots, those jackets that are brown that everyone wears, belt buckles, country music and being religious complete a redneck at our school. We are so redneck, we even have a rodeo club.
Football players-Texas is all about football. They act like they're hot shit. Most of the football player can be categorized as rednecks as well.
Band kids-I swear the band is a cult.
Scene kids-Most of them are in the 9-10 grade They wear horrible band tees and get bad extensions. Sums them up pretty well.
Stoners/hipsters-Gets high while listening to Radiohead. Often smell like smoke and wears American Apparel. Parties too much and brags about how wasted they get frequently.
Party people-Parties a lot. Typically gets in trouble at school at one point for being drunk at school or smoking weed in the bathroom. Goes downtown to clubs or to house parties all the time. Usually the girls are always complaining about boys and the boys are always talking about sex.


The rest of the people mix with each other or hang out with their own little group of friends that are just normal.

Scenesters: Imagine a bunch of Dot Dot Curve clones in Aiden and TDWP shirts. They despise anybody not scene and call them posers (HYPOCIRTES!) They also attempt to key peoples' cars and hate anybody witha decent/good/great taste in music.
IDK what you would call them... Vice On Victory look-alikes??? Neon green/hot pink/laser lemon V-neck shirts. Skinny black jeans, Airwalks/Converse shoes.

My school isn't too cliquey. People get along fairly well but of course, there are some cliques.

Scene/Emo- Not to much to explain, some of them are chill.

Prep/Jock- Pretty much the preppy kids are also jocks so I'll lump them into one group.

Obvious Nerds- Do well in school, always have laptops or some sort of technology with them.

Less obvious nerds- Are nerdy but don't do well in school or look nerdy at all. These are most of my friends at school.

Skaters- I've noticed we have quite a few skaters at my school this past year.

Duds- losers pretty much. Some of them are nice but they are pretty much the exception to the rule about people getting along with everyone.

Overall my school isn't to cliquey.

Sophomore class: the worst class to ever grace our school, they plagued us last year as freshman with
-cocaine use
-smoking
-vodka in water bottles. i shit you not
-sex in bathrooms
and they were caught for all of these, every time. They also issued a violence threat in the bathrooms which caused our school to have hardcore security, which is lame since we used to have none.
Most sophomore girls are goonish sluts, and all have bad music taste.


All of this was pretty much the norm at my school all four years i went there.

Thespians-- Theatre was their life, I was a thespian, but back stage stuff, so I wasnt like obsessed!

When you all post the different type of cliques, are they the cliques in your year alone or within the whole school?
I went to an All girls uniform wearing school. There wasn't cliques, but groups of friends. There was one group who were prettiest girls who liked to think they were higher up than everyone. They thought they were the 'popular girls' but most people hated them. It was just groups of best friends who sat together at lunch and outside school. All the groups are friends though and socailise outside school.
There was a couple of groups where the more loserish people were. There was only about 80 people in the year.

My school was all white, there one like one black girl and a couple of middle eastern. Quite a contrast to these american schools!

The oldie-but determined: Someone who had something "come up" when they were younger, and now they are bettering themselves through the joys of education!

The blonde lesbians: Chicks that sit in front of me in my composition class that make-out all the time and tease each other under the table.

Clones of me: When I walk into the school bathroom near the sink there is an exact replica of me. This replica even goes as far is mimicking my every move. Once I leave the bathroom the clone stops tormenting me... Until tomorrow, when the process starts all over again.

In my school the minorities are now the majorities. Very, very diverse:
40% black, 30% hispanic (though mostly mexican), 30% everything else (including white)
But if we're talking about cliques:
55% ghetto, 35% preppy, 10% emo/scene
or we could say:
80% doesn't give a shit, 20% straight A students
(There really is no medium, it's battle of the extremities)
60% badass, 20% wannabe badass, 20% not badass

I feel weird saying it, but I feel like there really aren't many cliques at my high school. I mean, the stereotypical slutty girls stick together for the most part, as do the kids who try too hard to be different and "weird". And our marching band is like a cult. But we have one of the biggest high schools in the state,. And if you stay cliquey, you'll end up not having anyone to talk to in your classes.
Drama is a daily occurrence however. We used to be way worse with fights and violence, but it's oddly seemed decreased as the school size increased.
I also think the small amount of cliques has to do with just a lot of people being apathetic, or (more likely) way too high to care. By senior year, most people aren't really trying and just don't care anymore. Personally, I can't wait.
And skipping class is almost a sport at my school.

edit: I love how most you described the stoners at your schools as dirty and people no one likes. It seems like by senior year a lot of people get high/party all the time. I could be wrong though.
