Cartel (www.cartelrocks.com) are in the studio recording their debut full-length with Zach Odom and Kenneth Mount at Treesound Studios in Atlanta (The Strokes, Smashing Pumpkins, Outkast, Aerosmith, Isaac Hayes, Nelly Furtado and more have recorded there.) The tentative release date for this super-anticipated debut is late August/September through The Militia Group (www.themilitiagroup.com).

If "Honestly" is any indication on the direction of this record, then it's definitely hype-worthy.
PS. I don't think The Militia Group gets enough credit for their roster. With bands like Copeland, The Rocket Summer, Anadivine, etc...They're nearly solid from top to bottom. Yeah, there are some questionable bands, but what label doesn't have those? coughcoughcoughVICTORYcoughcough

Yes, TMG does have truly amazing bands. So does 111 records.
and of course Drive-Thru will always own me.
Triple Crown brings great bands, along with FBR.
However, FBR has ties with a major(I think island/def jam, but I'm not sure, I think Gym Class Heroes are headed there), as does Triple Crown and 111, now I have no problem with that. But, Fueled By Ramen act like something's wrong with it and they're keeping it all secret to give them "indie cred", who gives a fuck. I love these labels by the way.
Anyway, back on topic, the new Cartel is gonna be fucking amazing. TMG has an amazing year this year.

Triple Crown has ties to Warner's incubator, 111 is 100% incubated as well, and FBR are about as independent as they come, except they're distributed by a Warner owned company (almost all independents are distributed by a major). FBR are in no way funded by a major or anything of that nature, they're just as independent as Tooth And Nail, Victory, The Militia Group, etc.

FBR seriously has NO TIES whatsoever, i don't know how or where that idea arose from.

Yeah. I thought the deal with FOB was originally that TTTYG would be released by FBR with Island having an option to pick up distribution if they saw an opportunity to make money. I don't see any problem there. It gets the band more exposure if they're good and the major label doesn't have to take a leap out any windows.
Indie cred be damned.

I thought they had something to do with a major from the Days Away situation, with Lava or whatever.

Lava decided that they didnt want to put out the album, making Days Away free to release it where they please, so FBR picked it up.

Frankly, Frank (and my last name is Franke, oh god!) the idea's basically come from my skepticism about any of the 'indy' labels being indy anymore. punk/emo/whatever is seriously the next grunge and a lot of these indy's i think have connections they don't make public to the majors. I just feel w/ the FOB situation w/ island...the academy is...is certainly on their way...I don't know...Vinnie's own band is on a major...it seems to be a logical route he'd go and he has the connections im sure to make it happen.
I mean i've heard the triple crown thing, but I've also heard about Fearless and Hopeless having the connections too...Epitaph w/ Warner...
And I truly think whether they are indy or not, Victory is just a disgusting label. DTR is not far off. and i'm not talking about hte bands. I think its gross how Richard alwasy bash's Vagrant in his interviews, so unprofessional. it really seems like the scene labels are run by these bloated ego'd assholes who don't know business manners to save their lives. Never trash the competition. makes you look slimey, jealous and lame.
Vagrant has the ties too don't they?
and I really just don't care in the end/
cartel's ep is most impressive.

This summer will be the greatest summer ever.
I think it may just be pretty swell. I like the summer it's warm and there's less clothing on girls.
and me...... ;)
FBR is distributed by the same system as warner music group
so is side one, epitath, and a host of others..
days away sold 1300, not bad but over 700 were sold not in stores.
cartel..wow........................ ................................... ............................yea.
