Keep on enjoying the Brand New tunes, folks. At the AAR, Armor for Sleep, Hellogoodbye show in Omaha on Monday night, I was fortunate enough to talk music with Ben Jorgensen (AFS frontman) for a good 15-20 minutes. Brand New discussion made its way into the conversation, and Ben served up the goods. He was talking about touring with Motion City Soundtrack and their guitar tech guy also sharing guitar tech duties with Brand New. "Dude, Brand New are fucked," he quoted this man as saying. They have 3 songs, people. THREE. And no, they aren't taking their time to write a phenomenal follow-up to Deja Entendu, they are FUCKING LAZY. This is in no way bullshit. An autumn release for their next album would be nothing short of wishful thinking. December or January is pretty realistic. So keep cranking YFW and Deja. Remember, this is coming straight from the source. And Ben Jorgensen is a doggone stud.

Man, I love Ben and AFS in general, but I hope that's not true...although it sounds pretty likely :(. They haven't updated their site for ages, and since they cancelled Bamboozle the last show they played was like what...a year and a half ago? And the street team, forget telling them anything.

It really depresses me to think that my favorite band, ever, of all time, got a million dollar contract and might not deliver on it. But there hasn't been a single demo of their new work, no news of recording, they took down all their journals...I think we're all losing hope as days go by. It really sucks. I'd be happy even to hear a bit of news from them. C'mon guys, treat your fans better!
