Less Than Jake (http://www.lessthanjake.com) will begin pre-production for their new record on June 1st, and right now it looks like Howard Benson (My Chemical Romance, Less Than Jake's "Hello Rockview", etc.) will be producing it. They're currently working on finishing up writing songs for the album. Anyone who has seen them live recently probably heard a couple new tracks, if so what did you think of them? Discuss in the replies. Also, Vinnie's toy company Monkey vs Robot (http://www.monkeyvsrobot.net) has their series two toys now up, so head over to the website and check them out.

Hello Rockview is my favorite release from them, though Anthem and B-sides comes in very very close. Less than Jake just captures ska music at its best in my opinion(RBF does as well), it just flows with energy and you cant help but get lost in the tunes. In fact I expect no less than another instant classic from this release.

Yeh you know it. LTJ get better per release.
I rather enjoyed new tracks. Sure it's nothing new or groundbreaking. If you're hoping for that you will be disappointed. LTJ is doing what they do best and that's play loud, catchy ska music.

If they can come up with another record like hello rockview...yikes. such a good album.
looking back on a long career filled with hundreds of shows...LTJ is right up there with the best of 'em.

LTJ are terrible. Glad Vinnie has some talent at running a label..coz he is a pretty useless drummer.

jason tate,
remember when you banned me from the website because i said that yellowcard wasn't the hardest working band in showbiz? remember when you said that mc lars was good? you fucking slay me, man. keep it coming. the fact that you actually took the time to listen to my songs (or maybe you are just THAT COOL and just KNOW that my songs suck without even giving them a listen) to say i should stop making music is hilarious.
in sum, your opinion is shit to me. your words are shit to me. and you are a fucking retard if you think that less than jake isn't past their prime. fucking listen to the progression of records from losing streak on. they released a goddamn REMIX album. who the fuck does that? i'm waiting for mc lars to do a "collabo" with them. it'd only be fitting after their descent.
now, would all of the sixteen year olds on this site please slander my musical tastes and champion watered down pop over the glory of yore? please. if i don't get "owned" by somebody, and then informed by at least five other clowns that i got "owned", i'll be let down.

Yes LTJ are past their prime and to the person who said they get better with every release you must smoke crack, but they still put out some good songs. and saw them live last month, they're bringing back the ska. well at least in the 2 new songs they played. Speaking of ska, why did you delete the Aquabats thread tate?

Just because their most recent releases haven’t been their strongest doesn’t necessarily mean that they are past their prime. I personally think its stupid to write off bands just because their last couple releases have not been their best work, especially a band like Less Than Jake.

the remix cd was released strictly for fun. they only made 1,000 copies of it. anyone who took it seriously is a moron.

dude your band is terrible. ill tell you right now that Tate's not the only one who thinks that, sorry. Less than Jake is my favorite band , name one band that sounds like them, there isnt one. They are a lot better than the generic screamo/pop-punk crap that keeps coming out.
On a lighter note, i really hope this is better than Anthem, i didnt dislike the album but it was just kinda meh compared to Rockview and Borders.

I'm not trying to get involved in this argument, but dude, just wait till you hear the new stuff. VInnie told me once again it's a nice mix up between punk and ska songs like Less Than Jake usually provide us, but i've heard two of them (live mp3s and live) called "We, the Uninspired" and "A Still Life Franchise", and they're both straight-up ska songs, and remind me alot of the days ranging from Losing Streak to Hello Rockview. As a matter of fact, "We, the Uninspired" doesn't sound like it would be out of place on Hello Rockview at all, while "A Still Life Franchise" has a more old-school ska vibe to it, something Less Than Jake hasn't really done yet. There's no lacking of horns that i've heard alot of people complaining about, because Buddy and JR both have major parts in those songs, and Chris uses just as many upstrokes as he ever did. I just think you might be pleasently suprised, man. At least give the new stuff a shot when it drops before you rip on it.

I loved anthem, short fuse burning was my fav track but about another 5 or 6 run it close. she's gonna break soon was kinda sucky though. I probably listen to it and boarders the most although all their cds are great, cant wait for this. LTJ = fun happy summer time punk loving

What part of Donnie Darko is that from? I've seen that movie countless times and don't remember it at all, unless its in the director's cut?

They did three new songs when I saw them last. They introduced them all as "who wants to hear a new song...........who wants to hear a new song WITH SKA??"
Needless to say, the crowd went crazy when they mentioned the ska part. I think they are finally realizing that the most loyal of their fanbase wants them to return to that signature sound, and they are finally coming through. They were all solid ska-punk songs. I can't wait for the new album.

Did you by any chance catch the name of the third new song? The one I didn't mention.

Your songs do suck. Big time. And I've heard them a thousand times before man. You aren't too terribly original. Oh yeah, I'm not sixteen either. I'm also glad that I'm not letting you down by "owning" you here. I mean, come on! I don't see how you can say LTJ is past their prime. Maybe in some ways, but they obviously have a huge and loyal fan base. I think they are a great band, although I only like their albums before "Hello Rockview", which is actually in my top 5 albums of all time. After that I think they kind of got stale. There was just something about that one album that screamed "insanely amazing". Hopefully they will release another CD that is finally on par with "Hello Rockview", but I doubt it. I'm sure it's something that I will enjoy, but I don't see it being anything crazy. That's my 2 cents.
Oh yeah, and your songs definitely suck pretty bad. I hate to rub it in, but ... c-mon. I have to.
