I figure with a fork, there will be less switching of utensils, since except for the rare-but-always-delicious chicken-noodle soup/mashed potatoes one-two combo, you're probably going to be using a fork for the meal.

My family had two spoons with serrated edges at the tips. I think they were supposed to be used for camping. They were like mean looking sporks. I'm pretty sure I cut my tongue on one of them.

I usually have equal parts of gravy and mashed potatoes. Therefore, I require a spoon.

If by some slight chance I would consume them without gravy I would use a fork.
