POST: A Look at the Influence of Post-Hardcore-1985-2007

or
Nothing Feels Good: Punk Rock, Teenagers, and Emo

To be honest, POST seems to deal with a subject matter I'm a lot more interested in, but Nothing Feels Good seems more widely praised for its writing. Which do you think best goes along with late-90s protoemo with a great read quality? Or just any criticism of either in general.

Thanks boyos.

(This is "music-related", and seemed a lot more appropriate amongst the topics here than amid various LOST threads in Entertainment. Sorry if you think it's mislocated!)

I read nothing feels good, and it sucked content wise. i mean, if you think hawthorne heights and dashboard are emo bands and want to impress someone with a shallow knowledge of rites of spring, then get it, but i really don't think that book offers much more than you could get from talking to someone who reads alternative press a lot.

haven't read the other book though.

I read both books and I personally prefer POST to Nothing Feels Good. I was more interested in the bands POST talked about [though JEW is mentioned in both]. Nothing Feels Good talks mostly on more "modern" bands I guess it the right word, like Dashboard Confessional, JEW, Weezer etc. POST gives the history of where these "modern" bands influences came from. At least that is the way I see it haha. I hope this helps :)

Nothing Feels Good was ok. It dragged on a bit when it was about Dashboard Confessional. I'm going to try and get POST soon.

I really want to read POST. Nothing feels good seems less interesting to me because of the focus on more modern bands.

It was a barrel full of LOL, though.
