I never knew this was about somebody dying. Such a beautiful song.

Yea evidently Jeff (former lead singer) said this was about a few of his friends who passed away in a terrible accident. I guess his message was learning to move on and succeed for these people. "Let's show them how to live..."

No, he is not. Jeff left This Day & Age and the remaining members founded The Reign of Kindo. If you like his voice, check out Jeremy Larson, they have similar voices.

The Fray - How To Save A Life .. ?

That song was actually written about a crack addict.

This is another story: Colin died in a car accident on January 20th, 2006. That night before he left, the last song he downloaded was "How to Save a Life" by The Fray. We didn't know this until his friend came home from college for the funeral and asked to look at his computer. They had talked about the song the night Colin had died.

Now they have started this small campaign on saving lives. I got a bracelet!

"Echoes" - Set Your Goals

The quick bullet: a tough one to dodge
And no one ever does
It cuts fast and deep (keeps you from sleep)
And you just have to let it bleed
I know the pain
It's all too familiar
If I could sing words to help
You know I would

And they would end the pain
But you will have to let this make you stronger
It's difficult to overcome

The name of a ghost
Still dancing on our tongues
So bittersweet (these memories)
I wish they could have taken me
And you will struggle through tough times
And destroy all your fears
Don’t let this win over you

Soon you will end the pain
And you will say that it did make you stronger
This is how you overcome

(Voices fade away) And we’ve all heard it sung
(They fade away, as the memory) You really don't know what you've got till it's gone
(You will meet me there) And then you want it back so much
Nobody ever warned you…

Breathe in, take in it deep
Cross your heart, it's yours for you to keep
Wishful: I guess I never was
I am looking up now, death can’t change us

Breathe in, take in it deep (And I will keep, pieces of you alive in me)
Cross your heart, it's yours for you to keep (Your spirit carries on.)
Wishful: I guess I never was (And I will keep, pieces of you alive in me)
I am looking up now, death can’t change us (Your spirit carries on.)

I will, stand alone
I will, learn from this, I will
I will, mourn the loss and I will be stronger

the last song i will ever want to sing- moneen

amazing song

Think of one moment you can call
The happiest moment of your life
Its gone
For Me The Thought That Keeps Playing over
Over and over and over
Is the day I realized that you were gone
I can't believe this had to happen
Please tell me why this has to happen
To someone so strong
I wish I could go back to see her
Spend time with her
But I can't
Instead I'm left with sadness
Sits in here watching you
Sits in here watching you
Sits in here watching you melt down
leave the thoughts the keys playing over
ANd over and over and over again
Stay if you can
Stay if you can
Stay with us now
Stay with us now
Thoughts of you drifting away
Cause I'm waiting for something
That something is to realize
And I'm waiting for something
That something is to realize
Cause I'm waiting
For something
If that something is to realize
Cause I"m waiting for something
If that something is to realize

Foster by Terminal.

My legs are shaking
As I stare into the waking
Guess I always knew
You were broken on the inside
Watched life passing you by
But you couldn't move
And no one stopped to ask you

If it was okay, oh
Surely there had to be a way to smile, Again

Pale familiar faces remind me
We weren't always strangers
Burying a friend
Remember the year we all spent laughing
Feels guilty to feel happy
It never should
But I didn't stop to ask you

If it was okay, oh
Surely there had to be a way
To feel okay, oh
Surely there had to be a way

To smile again
To let life in
Through the closet closed
Heaven from our souls

I'm okay
Surely there had to be a way
Okay
Surely there had to be a way
Okay
Okay

'funeral mix'...

what the fucK?

morbid or what!

i'm a counselor at a camp for people with a disease that takes their lives around the age of 20. so, naturally i've made a lot of friends with said disease, and in turn a lot of my friends die. that means lots of funerals... hence the mix made up of songs that make me feel a little better.

The Panic Division - Big Day

Wake up, you got a big day
Today you'll put a friend into the grave
Ain't nothing you can do or say to make this change, so
Get up, you got a big day
By the grace of god, when an angel comes your way

The heart goes on and on and on and on
Even after you've been gone
And it goes on and on and on and on
Even when no blood's running through your veins
The heart goes on

Remember New Year's Eve at the Dresden place
Shots rolled off when you spawned your love that day
We wanted to sing, so
I'm getting up for the big day
The grace of God's gonna lay you down today

The heart goes on and on and on and on
Even after you've been gone
And it goes on and on and on and on
Even when no blood's running through your veins
The heart goes on

Ryan Adams "September" (http://www.sendspace.com/file/tx00dk)

Laura lays on the foot of the bed
Mimics a noose with a telephone cord
Doctor's on the phone
Then she hangs up and says
"I ain't never gonna see the winter again"
And I don't know how, but she smiles
September, September
September, September

They carved your name into the stone and then
they put it in the ground,
I run my fingers through the grooves
When no one's around
Drink till I am sick and
Then I talk to myself in the dog days of the summer
Then I feel you coming but I don't know how
September, September
September, September

take one breath by the spill canvas kind of
You gotta start trying to eat again
Even though the only thing you hunger for
Is to have back your friend
you gotta do your best to get some rest
even though time seems irrelevant now
And you're more than sick of this pain inside your chest

If this house would collapse on top of me
The space would still remain
Much like her body refusing to function
Her soul won't go away

Take one breath and then take another
Repeat these simple steps
Until you feel like you're doing better.
Take one breath
Let the calm of it consume you
Everybody knows that it's never fair
There's really only one thing we can do

You gotta keep your head above the water
Even though sweet suffocation is a fine temptation
You'll always be her daughter.
You gotta push onward through the day
Keep your mind constantly running
You gotta let the sun in
She would have wanted it that way

chorus

At 4am when you are wide awake and fighting with yourself
There's about a thousand numbers to dial
Including mine if you need help.
There is no easy way to deal with these events
But if it's any consolation
I will be here, if you need a friend.

Bloc Party - Signs

Beautiful, mournful song. First heard a mixture of the acoustic and album versions on Gossip Girl and it really hit me.

"At your funeral I was so upset
So upset, so upset
In your life you were larger than this

I see signs now all the time
That you're not dead, you're sleeping
I believe in anything
That brings you back home to me"

Tiger Lily- Matchbook Romance. My best friend, Blake Varab passed away October 15th 2008 from something ridiculously rare. Two separate heart conditions that combined to stop his heart and prevent it from stopping... this song just makes me wish for that one last day to do the last few things we ever planned on doing that could be done in a short while... He was the greatest person i've ever known and this song is the most suitable for him in my mind... check it out

we drive tonight,
and you are by my side.
We're talking about our lives,
like we've known each other forever.
the time flies by,
with the sound of your voice.
its close to paradise,
with the end surely near.
and if i could only stop the car
and hold onto you,
and never let go (and never let go)
i'll never let go (i'll never let go)
as we round the corner
to your house
you turned to me and said,
"i'll be going through withdrawal of you
for this one night we have spent."
and, i want to speak these words
but i guess i'll just bite my tongue,
and accept "someday, somehow"
as the words that we'll hang from.

and i (i..), i don't want to speak these words.
'cause i ('cause i..), i don't want to make things any worse.
and i (i..), i don't want to speak these words.
'cause i, i don't want to make things any worse.

why does tonight, have to end?
why don't we hit restart,
and pause it at our favorite parts.
we'll skip the goodbyes.
if i had it my way,
i'd turn the car around and runaway,
just you and i.

and i (i..), i don't want to speak these words.
'cause i ('cause i..), i don't want to make things any worse. (any worse)
and i (i..), i don't want to speak these words
'cause i, i don't want to make things
and i, i don't want to make things any worse
