I had that shit a months back, it was nasty my sleeping pills didn't work.
But a few tips:
You shouldn't watch TV or go on the computer cause it keeps your head wired and awake.
Chill out and read a book or something.
Don't eat late cause your stomach will keep you awake.

I feel for you dude, insomnia is fucking awful.

I'm with you dude.

Just... read and go to bed. You have more chances of falling asleep while you're actually in bed than being up and watching tv or surfing the net.

Yeah it's too easy to do. You take so many because you're so desperate for just a solid 8 hours sleep you can take too much, which can be super dangerous.

exactly. i went without sleep for nearly three days once & i was just so, so desperate to sleep that i took something like seventeen sleeping pills at once. luckily as soon as i took them i thought 'that was really fucking stupid' & threw up.

sadly, insomnia makes you a bit batty as it is, so things like taking massive amounts of medication seem like an okay idea anyway.

I've had insomnia for like a week. Before this I haven't had a problem sleeping in years. Strange.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure I have some case of insomnia. I still sleep but I never sleep very long. I have to be at work everyday at 4am but I usually only get three to four hours of sleep before I go to work. When I'm off, I usually only end up sleeping five to six hours...no matter what time I go to bed. Insomnia blows, I need to start getting off the computer at an earlier time.

this seems to work for some people. make sure all lights are out. clear your mind as best you can. begin staring at one particular spot ..preferebly a blank wall. just keep staring at it... count backwards if you have to, but don't let your mind wander. keep staring. after a bit, you should pass out. may or may not work, but it's worth a shot.

i had that problem for years, pills made me sleep to long, quiet time in the dark just made me think to much, reading led to a library full of books, and masturbation just got me wired.
make sure you have a comfortable bed, as soon as i got my new bed i found i fell asleep alot easier, or maybe your depressed and should talk to someone, i'm pretty sure depression can keep you up at the wrong time.

The moments that I have problems going to sleep I typically watch TV for a bit and take some sleeping pills. Eventually I just start to feel a bit tired. I'll lay in my bed and listen to mellow music too. Most of the time what knocks me out is the sleeping pills though.

anxiety can also keep you awake - it really helps to find the reason behind your insomnia. i had really bad insomnia, and even now i don't sleep much on sunday nights. i got into this awful pattern where i couldn't sleep, but only on sunday nights. fear of the working week ahead, i liked to think. first point of call to figure it out is to figure if its your head or your body that doesn't want to sleep. you can then wear yourself out (body) or try to relax (mind). it fucking sucks though, i was a complete zombie, and in a bad mood too!
