This cd isn't what I would call amazing.
It has some strengths but overall "I Am The Movie" is a much better cd.
I think they slowed down the sound a little too much on some songs.
Oh well, take some scene points away for stating my opinion.

My thoughts exactly. They are a lot more poppyer too. You can definitly tell they're going after a more diverse fan base.... I personally don't like the change though.
However, the CD still has a few good songs.

I think this album is a nice step forward from their work on "I am the Movie." I think the mixing is much better, and the lyrics are pretty much all amazing. But, your allowed to have your opinion, and i respect it.

Saw them last night at Depaul University in Chicago and they put on a great show. It seemed like they really couldn't get too into it because the crowd wasn't into them. Afterall, Nas was headlining.

dude, you say your opinion at all on this board where someone might disagree, and negative scene points you get!
it's happened to me the other day with me saying I dislike the academy is..., and someone already called me an "elitist phaggot" (note the spelling) for being pysched for the new radiohead. some people on here are insane.

This album isn't even out yet and it is already reaking of undeserving praise. Probably is going to go on to become the most overrated album in '05.

Haha I appreciate it. Surprisingly I have gotten a positive response for my post above, which is pretty cool.
i like I Am The Movie better, but Commit This To Memory is still a very, very good and solid cd.

It's cool man, I agree I Am The Movie was great and I'll be happy if this CD is as good. I'm hopin for the best tho, because the thing about this band is that their songs are usually pretty diverse, like how with IATM you opened with a fast song, had a run of 5 great songs that were pretty close in tempo, and then suddenly jumped into 2 faster tracks with more of a punk feel. I get the feeling the new album is going to be like that too, and there will probably be faster songs on it.

that sounds like a crazy show, in a weird way
i would have liked to have been there though
little bit of MCS to go with a little bit of NAS..mmmm

i got an advance copy of commit this to memory and it's not as catchy as i am the movie, but it's got that special mcs touch where it grows on you and you learn the words without ever thinking about them, i'm a fan

this cd totally lost the 'rock' feel of the first....im not sure if its just the songs or mark's poor production. probably a little of both. im sure the new songs sound better live.

every single word of praise that motion city soundtrack receives is well deserved.
there isn't a harder working, more creative band than them and they are still underappreciated.

it's neither. the new songs show a growth and maturity in the band's songwriting, which should be expected from them, 'i am the movie' was written three years ago. mark's production is just fine, in fact i think he did an amazing job of helping motion city channel the direction of their new music. each song is like a perfect little gem of rock magic with just the right touch of pop. i don't understand how any fan of mcs could blame mark for bringing the band down, he's just as much of a fan of motion city as any of us which is why they wanted him to produce 'commit this to memory' in the first place.

i have only heard the songs on the ecard but im liking them. i kinda like the acoustic version of when you're around better.

excuse me, could you tell me how you know how hard this band works, i mean really, the whole "hardest working band out there" thing is used so frequently it is now not at all credible. I could think of upwards of one thousand jobs that are many times harder and less fufilling then touring around the country playing music with your best friends. In a way, i am offended by this dirty cliche' .

this cd is definitely a step upwards from I Am the Movie, much more personal lyrics throughout the album, a bit slower but just as catchy, i think. stuck in my head allll the time.

you may be on crack. when has MCS not been poppy?

i believe the words i used were "there isn't a harder working, more creative band" so your comparison to one thousand other jobs isn't really valid. at any rate, if you take into consideration how much work goes into touring and creating music and the business behind being a successful band, you'd realize that it all goes far beyond just playing music with your best friends. you should either think about these things before opening your mouth, or take your shit talking elsewhere.
