Pete of Yellowcard (www.yellowcardrock.com) recently updated the band's studio diary (http://yellowcardinthestudio.blogspot.com/) and you can find that update below... or by clicking the link provided.

Hey guys,
It's Pete again...checkin' in just to make sure you guys are alright, and give you guys some updates about our lives and the studio it revolves around. I'm a lttle tired today and not as quick as I usually am...we went to a midnight showing of the new Star Wars movie last night up in Calabasas...i don't know if that's how you spell it, but that's where we were. So needless to say I didn't get the amount of sleep necessary to come in and make a rock record....you won't notice though...we will just overdub the bass tracks. About those tracks, they are comin' along pretty good. We're mixin' up the recording process a little bit this time around. Usually we go one instrument at a time...but Ryan and I are bouncing around doing the guitars and bass, Ben's hoppin' in shredding some mean licks...and Sean's either arranging string parts or sleeping on the couch (let's hear a big aww from the ladies....cute lil Asian on the couch with a pillow over his face)
So i would say over-all we are a bit ahead of schedule....all the drums are done and over half of the guitars and bass have been laid down...Ryan has even cut a couple of vocal tracks (gasp from all those boys out there who love Ryan) I get to type all day when I'm not screwing up a song...i feel like I'm at camp and you guys are my pen pals....what?
Oh yeah...and Ben got a new car...stoked! It's a nice little Infiniti sports coupe...with all the options...but it's an automatic. Dudes, never buy a sweet sports car unless it has a manual transmission...10-4? That's that in Yellowcard land...not too exciting...my mom is coming out to see me in a couple of weeks...but that's not too exciting either......but....we may have a little glimpse of the new record for you soon...not too soon....I can't say too much else without tippin' off big brother. Stay tuned...until then...drink plenty of water and never smile at cops.
Pete

Ocean Avenue was Yellowcard's ticket to the mainstream. I mean everyone doesn't know about them, but there are a pretty big amount of people that do. This album will either make or break them. It'll either be extremely good and get the success that Starting Line has with their new album, like someone else mentioned, or it'll be a big bust and be a huge disappointment. In my opinion, I think they'll be able to put out another great record. The only thing that's making me doubt that is that comment Ryan made right when they were talking about going into the studio about not changing too much or growing up too fast and try to keep the same sound or something like that. A band can't be afraid to be different. Albums that are weird and extremely out of the loop usually end up being the best albums...even if it takes a few listens. I just hope this isn't an Ocean Avenue II...even though I'd buy it and listen to it all the time anyway.

first off, it's not buuuu, it's boo.

second, you like good charlotte, evanesence, and linkin park....so i'm sorry to say, but your opinions about yellowcard are null and void. i'm not the biggest fan of them, but they are definitely better than those said bands. good day.

okey...i guess i found a nerve.

No, it's not. It's Calabasas. Lived there for four years, so I'm pretty sure I got the spelling down.

Jason Tate?

Haha. Classic.

In my opinion, "Ocean Avenue" was absolutely pitiful compared to "One For The Kids", not even comparable. Sad. Hopefully this new one is much better.

Yeah, this is definitely true. One For the Kids is definitely an amazing album and I also think it's a hell of a lot better than Ocean Avenue. But...Ocean Avenue is a good CD too. If you look at it as an album on its own, it's quite good. That album got me through some tough times so it has more sentimental value than anything. Heh, it's kind of sad that the Underdog EP is my favorite release from them since it's so short.
