Ancestors - Neptune with Fire

Who?
Let’s turn the lights down a bit. Put five metalheads in a studio, give them some instruments, tell them they can only record two songs - but that the total length of them has to equal 38 minutes). Maybe throw in some drugs and alcohol, and what you get is one kick-ass two track LP titled Neptune With Fire from Los Angeles-based Ancestors.
How is it?
The majority of both tracks mostly feature psychedelic jamming, which is fun, but what really grabs you in is the doom-like vocals that lead man Justin Maranga (who also helms guitar) use to guide the opening segments of both songs. Simply put, this album takes the idea behind a concept album that has best been mastered and manipulated by the likes of The Mars Volta, and jabs it in the face with multiple battle axes - but that’s why we love it, right?
