You can read an article Rolling Stone (http://www.rollingstone.com) did on Fall Out Boy (http://www.falloutboyrock.com) here (http://www.rollingstone.com/news/story/_/id/7349378/falloutboy?pageid=rs.Home&pageregion=single1).
Note: Yes, we know you're tired of FOB posts. Yes, we know you think they sold out, it sucks they're on MTV and that they're the "worst" band out there today. With that being said, thank me for saving your breath.

I get ridiculously pissed with fuckers who say they sold out. If you were in a band, you'd want to get big too, it's natural. I love that they suck now.. as opposed to 5 months ago when they were amazing.

I listened to the New Album for about 5 minutes at Fred Meyer the other day... they had it right next to Hawthorne Heights (dear god...) and it made me make the "Eh/what the fuck?" face. I shook my head in distaste, then, just to compare and contrast the severe lame-ness, played the Hawthorne Heights album... "CUT MY WRISTS AND BLACK MY EYES!!!" I started cracking up and one of the clerks looked up at me and was like, "What're you listening to?" So I showed him... Apparently he didn't find it amusing (he was probably sporting his favorite Victory Records shirt underneath his uniform)... But just to balance the awfulness meter out, I gave the Fall Out Boy album a second whirl. It stopped me from laughing, but I walked out of the Electronics section shaking my head... then had to buy Jade Empire to perk myself up.
Moral of the story, Kids: Sometimes two negatives CAN kind of cancel each other out and make a positive-ish sort of thing happen... kind of...

1) Who cares if FOB is on MTV. They're probably making more money than anyone else on this board now, I guess they get the last laugh.
2) I totally don't dig the new album nearly as much as the last one. It's just not as fun, and that's MY opinion. Maybe they did sell out, maybe they wanted to take their music in a different direction. Let's not forget...these guys were a bunch of hardcore kids and started the band as a joke to show that just by looking good and playing pop punk could get you success. I mean, come on, have you HEARD Pete's hardcore band? Yeah, that wasnt going to go anywhere.
3) I will never be sick of FOB threads. Without them we wouldn't have half the fun we do here.

I don't think Fall Out Boy sold out. I just really don't like their new cd and find it boring. People get so pissed off when someone says they don't like FOB, like it's a sin. People can say how much GC and Simple Plan sold out and not get yelled at but if they utter one word about Fall Out Boy it's wrong. It's just my opinion, though, so you don't have to like it. Just respect it. Obviously, as you can tell from my awesome deduction in scene points, people don't like my opinions. I swear, though, that I never just say something sucks...I have reasonings.

With any band, someone is bound to hate them, while just as many people love them. Fall Out Boy has just been getting the worst of it lately because of the hype of the new album. Like it or not, they're doing something right with all of the records they've sold, whether its a good album or not. You've gotta give em credit for that, at least.

there may have been one person this entire thread who said fall out boy sold out. All you believe is your opinion. Trust me, there are plenty of fall out boy fans that show up on the boards and tell people they are fucking elitists or snobs because they dont like fall out boy. Jesus Christ get over someone else's opinion. Like them on your own terms and stop worrying if other people like them or not. Obviously they are gettin the respect you think they deserve with their record sales. It's okay if people don't like them. Shut.The.Fuck.Up.

the term selling out has truly lost all its meaning to most people and its sad. FALL OUT BOY HAS NOT SOLD OUT!!!! i may not be completely correct but the selling out means to most people or close to that a band is just making music to make money and be rich and famous. but fall out boy has not giving anyone any reason to think they have sold out. you haven't heard their songs or faces on ipod or car or any other commericals. when fall out boy came on the 3rd for the record release show they could have played roseland probably and most likely sold it out easy, since they sold out two irving plaza show on the same day just a couple of months before in december. ok so they were offered to play on mtv and they took the gig. what is the harm in that. if you like fall out boy so much but you are mad or don't like them anymore because you think they sold out you are just being plain selfish. if you liked them so much, let them be on mtv, let other people hear your favorite band. yes they may go on to play larger venues and what not and i know it will make people mad, cause sometimes stuff like that does for me. but in the end you are letting people hear your favorite band and experience the joy that you had when listening to them. but again i will say it, FALL OUT BOY HAS NOT SOLD OUT. if you can give me an experience or show me that you have go ahead. if you can prove me wrong go ahead. i'm not afraid of being proven wrong because we are all human. but what i know from listening to them for many years and reading and posting on this website, they have done nothing to show me that from what i know about them at the moment they have not sold out.

I like Fall Out Boy and have both of their cds. I just haven't listened to them the same since they played here a couple months ago. It was quite possibly the worst show I have seen in a long time, I actually ended up leaving half way through their set. I couldn't stand the off key vocals, flat guitars, worst scremas since Hawthorne Heights, and non exsitant drums. I am glad to see them become popular and be able to make a solid living off what they enjoy to do.

I'll be honest, i liked Take This.. a little more just cause i love almost every second on that album while on From Under.. there's parts i dislike (such as the random screaming and lyric reading on some of the songs).

-Arma Angelus was signed to Eulogy Records. That's a pretty big label in the hardcore/metalcore scene. They were going places.
-They started Fall Out Boy in order to play fun music, not to show that by looking good you could gain success.

Personally, I despise their new album. I think it's typical reccycled ideas from every other pop-punk record in the universe... it's disgusting. However, I would never bash anybody else's opinion on them, I would never claim they "sold out", and I would never focus on things other than the point at hand... the MUSIC. Their new album is not my style and that's that. Fuck the political side and the morons in these forums who say things like..."Fall Out Boy are in it for the money and fame now! Pete thinks he's a scene god! blah blah"... listen to the fucking music, if you like it, listen more, if you don't like it, delete it off your computer and forget about it.. Period. Nothing else should matter and the music should be about the music. If you dig the band, buy their merch and listen to their stuff, if you don't dig their music, don't buy their merch or listen to their stuff... who gives a fuck about the other meaningless bullshit like "selling out", or pete "thinking he's a god".... JUDGE THE FUCKING MUSIC--LOVE IT OR DON'T.

Well if what was said earlier is true(about them starting FOB to prove that you just have to look pretty to be popular in pop punk)(which by the way, I don't know if I can believe, look at 3/4 of that band. The hilarious thing is the pattern on the site(reflective of the scene) in the reaction towards bands when they release a successful CD .First everyone is interested, anticipates the hell out of it. The band is "IN" now. Then the positive buzz begins, with the first single releases. The hype surmounts at the release date in which everyone is a true supporter and make it known. The next week is a honeymoon effect of singularily good reactions. The band is worthy. Then the downfall, concurrent with the marketing scheme. BAnd does press----all forms of media, Fuse, AP mag., etc...Cd gets a bit redundant, and an epiphany begins that it was only average if that. THe band now is too overpublicized in the ironic sense that we all seek all the publicity, and their weakness began to arise with exposure. The hypocrisies, psuedo-geniune attitude and appearance, are slightly revealed. The band is done now. OVer, banal, trite. this is about the month after point. WIth time is only relentless bickering and scoffing at each other until the band's popularity and presence dwindles....only to begin the entire process again when the next one is released.

like them or not you have to admit they sounded shitty in that live performance on FUSE... wow
I'm not gonna display my opinion of the cd.. cause im sure no one cares... just like i dont care what other people think of the music i like.
music is about reflection of self, and it is intended to be as individualistic as we all are..which is why.. peoples musical tastes are so different... for all you fall out boy haters.. im sorry you dont get a kick out of the music anymore... for all you lovers.. im glad it makes you feel good....but really, i keep saying this.. and im gonna say it again.. its music.. we dont need to get to worked up about this

what i love the most is how back when fall out boy had the countdowns on the website every topic here would have well over a hundred replies of everyone saying how much they heart fall out boy and they they are going to be the next big thing and how happy everyone is for them. now its completely reversed to everyone saying how they have always hated the band and their music sucks boobs.
where have all of the fans that don't turn on a band because they find the success they deserve gone?
i'm a fall out boy fan. eat me

I'm allowed.. i live and canada, and have had to put up with them for too long, and plus.. i didnt ridicule their music... i applauded the man who did...

Agree. That guys a genius when it comes to that. This threads turning into a pile of crap faster than Ronald Reagan's brain was.
Genius? are you smoking crack. His lyrics are nothing special at all. He's not in Chris Conley's league.

you know not everyone has to like every single band out there..for the people that do like fob more power to you..i like them and i believe that this new record is exactly what they needed to get bigger.. it shows a lot of growth and change from their last full length which is exactly what is wanted from a band...if they didnt change their sound then no one would listen to them anyways because it would(face it) get boring after a while. . . and if you think that they have sold out..then consider this..some kids dont know about good kinds of music. they are told wat to listen to by all their friends and the media..now when a good band finally makes it onto MTV every one shoots them down because they are not paying attention to their "roots".. well i dont think its their fault that suddenly a lot more people started liking them.. i mean if the opportunity is given for a lot more people to start listening to them then they are obviously gonna take it...after all thats wat music is about..getting as many people as possible to listen to your ideas and thoughts.

the new album is BORING! who sucked the energy out of Fall Out Boy, Jay-Z????
Still love the old album. And they are NOT the worst band ever. That distinction belongs to Nickelback, Simple Plan, and Good Charlotte. If they made a song together, they'd create a SUCK bomb so powerful it could destroy THE WORLD!

Just because Fall Out Boy is big now, everyone wants to label them sell outs, well fuck you all. Anybody in a band should side with Fall Out Boy, anybody would want their music to be heard by as many people as possible, and when the opportunity is there, anybody would take it. Their music isn't bad, its actually great, hard to do in the pop punk scene of today. You "scenesters" need to get off your high horse and realize that good music is good music. I love Blink and they "sold out" by many accounts. Listen to what you enjoy, not what the "scene" tell you to. Im done

Moral of the story, Kids: Sometimes two negatives CAN kind of cancel each other out and make a positive-ish sort of thing happen... kind of...

That could be one of the most intelligent posts ever on this site.

If there are ten posts about FOB on the main page who gives a fuck, seriously. They just put out an album and they have plenty of news and things to share with their fans. Yeah, I think the severeness of the criticism this band gets is unjust. If you don't like them cause you don't like their music, go on ahead and elaborate on it. If you don't like them because you think it's cool to hate bands that make a little dollar sign, then your posts bore me.

FOB now = NFG after the release of NFG and/ or Sticks & Stones...
By the way...I still love NFG. I just saw them live, and there is nothing wrong with them at all. So what if they don't release the most breathtaking/ innovative music that defies the depths of time. I still think they're music is catchy as hell. Sure, some songs are always going to be stronger than others...but hey...it still makes for some goodtimes. ;) ...and you can't say that you've never found yourself singing along to NFG every once in awhile. Let's face it, some music is meant to be art while others are meant to be amusement parks. (Not the best metaphor, but...it works for the time being.)
Oh yeah...and the same comments apply for Fall Out Boy.

I cant beleive i actually read all the posts. I am a fan of Fall Out Boy, they have been a favorite of mine for over 2 years now, and I was excited as hell to get the new cd. The new cd sounds like a sophmore album should, like the band is growing up. The lyrics are clever and have a darker side to them. With that said, I will by no means critisize the people who don't like them, as long as those have always been your feelings. It really is the newfound glory complex. People fell in love with them at such early stages in their career, and I think that some kids might feel betrayed. but look in the song lyrics and you will know they arent sell outs. "We do it for the scars and stories, and not the fame." We all know they could be selling out arenas right now, but they are going on warped tour? And on the last tour, tickets were still cheap, when they could have charges twice as much and sold the same amount of tickets. As it was said, discuss the music, and give your opinion on it. But if you say it Sucks, without giving explanation, keep in mind that music has been around longer than you, so who the fuck are you? And all this "Pete thinks hes a punk god or underground sensation or whatever...this isnt aboutwhats punk and whats not (i still fucking hate that word, seriously, 6th grade people) this is about a solid record, i think it holds together well and has terriffic sing along anthems for everyone from kids to a band struggling with a newfound success. PS...my opinion...worst band ever...White stripes. Lyrics make no sense, same drum and guitar beat every 6 seconds for 3 minutes. And the whole robert smith gone candy cane has always bugged me because its a gimmick. 2 biggest sellout bands, limp bizkit and sugar ray, both started out as hard rock acts, look where they are now. and fall out boy fans, im with you, i love the cd but i emphasize, dont freak out over others not feeling the same way. just give an opinion.. i probably repeated myself alot in here, but hopefully it will resonate with someof you.

hmm selling out. i have trouble with this term. if bands were souly about music then they wouldnt sell merch at there shows. unfortunatly in this stoneage almost every band has "sold out" because they are selling their music and getting paid to go on tv or whatever. where do you think the money they get from cds and merch goes, they give it to orphans? i think not.

In a way, since you wrote "worst" I took it as you saying everyone say they suck but you don't agree. Which is fair.

See, it's people like you I hate. A person who does not like FOB is trying to be more scene? I am against everything in the scene. I never have dyed my hair black or have worn girls jeans or put on eyeliner. I am no part of the scene. I just like music that fit my tastes and if Fall Out Boy doesn't appeal to me then why should it be "fuck me"? Get used to everyone having an opinion.
If you were no part of, or against everything in, the scene you would not have signed up to the AP.net forums.
I can honestly say I love every bit of the new FOB album and it is the only CD I have listened to since I bought it the day it came out (besides a bit of new TSL here and there).

I flipped through here to see if I had been thrown to the wolves, and I found that, while many of you agreed with my opinionated ranting, somehow I wound up with a bright red bar hanging next to my name, that I remember was bright green yesterday. I came to find out this represented my "scene points" or approval rating, or whatever the fuck that means... how many people agreed with me, or something right?? I find it odd that I went into the negative for people agreeing with me. I never said anything about "Selling Out" or any of that overused, unoriginal, "scene" related bullshit. All I said was, while many kids think that Fall Out Boy is the worst thing to happen to the "Pop-Punk" genre (maybe I should have been more specific), I think that that was an overstatement, and said award deserves to be handed to Good Charlotte and Simple Plan. But I also noted that Fall Out Boy was pretty bad/unoriginal... a band trying to be provacative that didn't have a provacative bone in their body. Clever lyrics/song titles don't make you a good band... good music makes you a good band. Many of you were like, "This band is WAAYYYY Worse than (insert band name here)" and in almost all instances I completely agreed with you (Creed, Nickleback, Hawthorne Heights, etc...)
I'm not defending myself by any means. I was just confused by the fact I went from Green to Red, and never said anything more than my opinion. If I were Fall Out Boy, and somebody said "Hey, You're so much better than Good Charlotte/Simple Plan." I'd take it as a complement. Wouldn't you?
