Well, that's good for you Zach, you'll probably get a good job right out of college.
I guess it's good for me as well because it mentioned something about engineering degrees too.

maybe people are finally realizing that they're losing their jobs to engineers overseas so there's no point in fighting it.

That's true. That's shitty though. Granted you can make more money taking shit overseas because you can pay your employees less, but you're screwing over people in your own country.
I just want to make at least $100,000 a year someday. That is my goal. :)

All I have been taking through highschool are computer courses and programming courses. I'll probably take a bunch in college too. Hopefully I can get a good job out of college and not be more still living with my parents.

Those degrees get you nowhere. Half of my cousins got a degree in that, and one of my ex-gf's older brothers graduated with a degree, and none of them have good jobs.

Computer degrees or engineering degrees?

I think a computer science degree would get you somewhere. We need people to program that shit to get it to work. There's a need for it regardless. Maybe the people you know are just looking at the wrong places or aren't really looking at all, or maybe they aren't necessarily what the companies are looking for.

Well, it's becoming fairly common for people to have a college degree nowadays, it's the standard. If you want to serious excel you're going to have to go above the standard. Eventually everyone is going to realize that and then everyone will have master's degrees, so what's next? Everybody's going to have to get a freakin' Ph.D.

Yea, maybe, but it seems like everyone who doesn't have a real idea of what they want goes to school for either physical/sport therapy or computer science. Every school in Westen New York pumps them out like no other, and none of them get anywhere because they flood the market. Sure, someone needs to program shit, but not 3000 people every 12 months.
It is kinda sad, a BS or a BA means next to nothing these days. It's just like finishing highschool years ago, it's just not that special anymore. I'm already planning on going straight into graduate school when I'm done with my BS.

Well that's why the engineering job market was slow a few years back, everyone was an engineer. You just sounded like you meant that getting a computer science degree was pointless, when it's really not. Your perspective can be used for just about any degree. When there's an overabundance of graduates with that degree it will be more difficult to get a job in that area compared to when there's a shortage.
I plan on getting a job with a company that will pay for some if not all of my graduate's degree.

Well how many computer programmers are needed compared to the number of people with the degree? It doesn't seem like it's going to balance in the very near future, so unless you're very patient, I wouldn't want to start heading into school for such a degree now.

Hm, true, but according to that news article it would seem like a good field to go into if that's what interests you, but then again everyone might suddenly realize that and then there'd be too many. Who knows.
I didn't go into the degree I went into because of the number of people in it, I did it because it's what I was interested in. I think even if there were too many people in that degree I'd still go for it.
