Both the Alkiline Trio and Get Up Kids albumbs are incredible. The Trio record is probly their best to date and that is saying alot. And the TGUK is TGUK, 90% of bands on mentioned on this site do nothing but rip them off so why not just go buy the original.

The Lucero is pretty rad to.

Dear god the new Alkaline Trio is good. Gorillaz is alright, and Chappelle Show is pretty good...I wouldn't drop more than $20 on it though, Comedy Central has been showing those episodes like crazy. It's too bad they didn't show them when the DVDs weren't out.

The new Amber is better than Fading Days was, but I still think of them as little more than a slightly hipper version of the All American Rejects. Maria Taylor is quite good, below is my review:

Flawless beauty...

As cliché as it is to compare any musical project related to Maria Taylor to the Sirens that so tempted Odysseus, it’s an apt likeness. On Taylor’s first solo release, 11:11, she doesn’t stray too far from her Azure Ray roots. Still present is the delicious melancholy of her soothing vocals, but you’ll find less of the trademark despair that wove under the surface of the more famous duo.

It was actually Azure Ray that sparked my interest in the Omaha sound a few years back, not the seemingly irrepressible drawl of Conor Oberst. Azure Ray got me into Bright Eyes, which is kind of like saying Brazil got me into At the Drive In...it’s true for me, but nonetheless hard to believe. Admittedly however, I had to be in certain reflective state to fully enjoy Azure Ray. Their somber tone is best set to reflection and self-evaluation.

On 11:11, Taylor manages to create an album that one can listen to in any mood. Even the most foreboding of tracks like “Lighthouse”, have a decidedly less stark tilt. That‘s not to say that you’ll hear Maria joyfully emote or even break out of her normal octave all that often, but you will enjoy the contrast. Taylor will surely lure many of indie boys to the jagged shores before 11:11 spins out.

Recommended if you like: Amanda Rogers, Bright Eyes, Azure Ray

At The Drive-In This Station Is Non-Operational is amazing. The rare photos and DVD extras are definitely worth the money alone not to mention the 18 tracks of jams that changed punk rock forever. Definitely worth a pick up! The new Alk3 is pretty good too... it's a bit darker and more melodic which should please a lot of new and old fans alike.

Haha, some kiddie gave me unsigned neg scene because he/she disagreed that I suggested Amber Pac over Alk3.

I love AP sometimes.

And FYI, I like both albums; I just like Amber Pacific a little better. Alk3 sounds a little too much like Good Mourning, Pt. 2 at times.

Yes, this Get Up Kids record is great. I was at the show and was very excited because I thought I heard my name in the very beginning of "Is There A Way Out". It was only someone saying something that sounds like "iron wine", which for some reason sounded like Tyler Waugh when you're not wearing headphones.

anyhow, i'm seeing them both in lawrence and in KC for the final shows.

i searched around to see where things were cheapest, and best buy is pretty much, well, the best. besides gorillaz being on sale for $9.99 at circuit city, the other cds were cheapest there. also, if they go on sale within 30 days, you can get the difference back.

i'm going back to buy Maria Taylor because i totally forgot about it and i'm also going to bring the circuit city flyer to get $2 back because they match the prices. being cheap is necessary when you buy a ton of cds.

I held off on listening to the leak for like three months of Alkaline Trio for when I purchased it today. Best choice I have made in a long while :-D

As for the album, it's not the best Alkaline Trio album but I like it more than Good Mourning. It has much more of a consistent flow and I don't really feel that a lot of songs are striving to be 'single-worthy'. It was a change well deserved and the sound now sounds much more fuller.

the new Lucero is a little bit of a letdown. they're my favorite band, but this just seems kindof uninspired and forced. there are a few amazing songs (The War, Sixteen, And We Fell), but alot of the others just sound like bad local bar rock. I'm sure that's what they're going for, but it doesnt work as well as I'd like. Hopefully this record is a grower for me.

Also, buy the new Brand New Disaster. I've had it since last october, and have listened to it at least once a week since. Such an improvement over their debut. Great fucking band.
