From the Ataris (http://www.theataris.com)' website:
"Spent the last several weeks writing, was good to have a short bit of time off from recording. We begin tracking again tomorrow. Still living here at the studio. John went back to New York for a few days, I stayed here at the house writing and watching the entire seasons one and five of Law and Order SVU. Thought I'd clear up a couple redundant FAQ's.. No, we currently do not know a release date for "Welcome the Night" , although we promise you will be the first to know. We hope to post a couple sound clips up on here in the near future. We plan to redesign this entire site very soon, at that point there will be tons of new photographs, video, soundclips and more, so keep checking back. Other than that, not much to report. We will likely be here at the studio at least til around mid-June, I will update you on our progress in the upcoming weeks. Take Care and be well... Dick Wolf."

I never really go into them, but it sounds like they've completely changed their sound, so it should be interesting to hear what the result is.

I don't like this band.
Then why are you here?
This album should be damn interesting, especially since they have...what...like seven guys in the band full time now? Yes...very interesting indeed.

I need to give their older stuff more of a listen. I've only kind of browsed through some of their other albums. I really like So Long, Astoria though and their acoustic stuff is pretty awesome.

My fav. band, although I do hope this doesn't flop. they've completely changed their sound.

I dont think we need to worry as to how awesome the new cd is gonna be. They are putting alot of time into it and the ataris havent been ones to disappoint. Patience my friends, the amazing sounds will fill our ears soon enough. Besides, just because the sound changes doesnt mean the man behind the music has. I expect nothing less from these dudes but an amazing new album.

Kris Roe will probably be a piece of shit and destroy the message board as he has demanded be done so many times before.
What a miserable man.

Harder, softer, more absorbent, who cares. Kris Roe is a pop genius and unless you're a complete tool you'll like the new record. Unless you're a big jerk who think playing slightly slower or more complicated arragements means you sold out and you suck.

i love the ataris...damn bastards play almost zero florida shows though. i remember forcing all of my friends to get ready an hour before they played with the vandals/lagwagon in tampa and my friend got a damn flat tire. i made him park right next to the venue in a blatant tow away zone and i ran in to them playing the last 10 seconds of san dimas hs football rules and saying we better get pumped for lagwagon and the vandals.
it was cool til the lead singer of the vandals decided it was pants optional night and was singing in his underwear....
from now on we leave TWO hours before a show starts when the ataris are involved....goddamnit

i was hoping to read about what's been going on with Kid (drummer) and Mike (bassist). from the looks of the photos, it seems that they are not in the band anymore.

Hell yeah dude. These guys do not get enough love on here.
I'm excited to hear clips. I think Kris Roe getting to do what Kris Roe wants to do can only create something incredible.

That cd was my favorite back in my junior year of high school too. There was a time that I could listen to it over and over and it would just get better every time.

I agree completely. This album should be pretty good. It'll be interesting to see how they incorporate the full band(all seven members) on the new album. I can't wait to here some clips, demos, anything from the new album.
On a completely unrelated side note, if you're going to give someone negative scene points, don't you think you should at least say who you are? Whoever gave them to me and thought I was being an asshole, I didn't mean to come across that way. I was simply asking why the person who posted about not liking this band was here. I mean if I saw a thread about a band I didn't like I wouldn't go. It's as simple as that.
