Personally, nobody is going to be able to do Bob Dylan justice. Just my 2 cents.

Drive Thru records doing a tribute to Bob Dylan?
How horrendous and insulting that is for Bob Dylan.
I'm not a huge BD fan myself, but that is simply ridiculous.
*Edit*
To the commentee that sent me a "you probably don't know anything about the (DTR) label," actually, I do. Inner workings too. I no longer have respect for Drive Thru Records as a label, not to mention the shitty bands they sign, but especially not for Richard and Stephanie Reines. I- like you- am entitled to an opinion and don't need anyone's "scene" points. How lame- the "scene" phase died in Los Angeles a year ago. We're waiting for the East Coast to catch up with us. Thanks and do your research.

bob dylan makes me wanna... shit, i dunno, but i like him
Drive-Thru should have scrapped all the bands on here, and just let Two Gallants do a 2-disc tribute album

I'll just wait for the Doghouse Records tribute to Bob Dylan. That Say Any thing song is bound to be gold, but I have to admit I'll probably download The Format's track from this once.

this is gonna be a complete joke. dylan is one artist whose music shouldn't be tampered with cause it wont work in any other style.
yeah, i mean come on, hendrix's version of all along the watch tower is horrible....... /sarcasm

i cant say i'm a huge bob dylan fan.... but i can tell you which tracks will probably be awesome:
Steel Train - Don't Think Before (if one band could do bob dylan they could)
Anberlin - Like A Rolling Stone (anything they put out rules)
House Of Fools - Blowin' In The Wind (these guys have just the sound for this)
The Format - Simple Twist Of Fate (this should be interesting)
Dave Melillo - It Ain't Me Babe (i'll give dave a chance for this one, should be good)
I Can Make A Mess Like Nobody's Business - Positively 4th Street (ace will make the cover pretty stripped down and hopefully awesome)
Days Away - To Ramona (these guys are just awesome)
Steel Train - I Shall Be Released (must be pretty good if they get 2 songs)

i'll download the Format track. and probably the I Can Make A Mess... track.
and to the dude who said Dylan should never be covered, i point you in the direction of Jimi Hendrix's cover of "All Along The Watchtower"
wasn't FOB supposed to have a track on this?
i hope not.

he's easily the most clever singer/songwriter out there right now, and puts on a really good live show.

The SayAnything track featuring Chris from Saves the Day is wonderful....It'll be nearly impossible for Jenoah to top.

just remember, folks, bob dylan got most famous for writing songs for other people/people covering his stuff. he's an incredible songwriter, which means that he's able to write things that can be adapted to many different genres.

i think steel train is the only band on that list that has a shot at making a decent cover, listen to their 1969 EP, the jackson five cover is flawless....i do like the rx bandits though even though i tihnk their cover will suck

Yeah, he was at my college last fall. I didn't like him that much before, but afterwards, I got into it more. His live show is definitely awesome, especially the kid he had opening for him. The kid was 16, had college girls hitting on him all show

1. The song Steel Train is covering is "Don't think twice(It's Alright)". Not "Don't Think Before".
2. You can hear Steel Trains cover here www.purevolume.com/bobdylaniscool and they do it wonderfully.
3. Will all you shut the fuck up about how some artists shouldnt be covered? Of course none of them are going to live up to the originals. They're not fucking meant to. They're not meant to be better or even equal. It's a compilation of bands playing tribute to a great artist, nothing more. Don't blame the bands for ruining the songs, blame the style of music the bands play. It's your fault if the song sucks, not theirs. You listen to shitty music. I think it's a great idea to be able to hear Dylan songs in with a different type of sound behind them. It's interesting to hear, regardless of how good the cover actually is.
Grow up and get off your elitist high horses. Some of you admit to not even being a Dylan fan but yet complain about how bands shouldn't cover him. Just shut the hell up already.

tj979 is right, all of those bands and their music is terrible. they are just making a "tribute" cd because they cant write anything decent of their own. instead they take a good songwriter like bob dylan, and turn it into music he himself wouldnt be caught dead listening to.
ps. emo kids sucks. why so sad all the time?

Jeez, I was gonna say . . . I can't be the ONLY one who noticed that, and I'm not even a Bob Dylan fan.
