I just kinda want to make a rant/ fight with each other thread here.

I dont get this...why do people label themselves?
Like
"oohh im emo"
"Im a hardcore kid"
"im straight up punk"
"im straight edge"

What do you get outa Labeling yourself? To me it seems really pointless.

People like to belong to a group. It's human nature. For the straight edge kids, it's even more pathetic, as they need to be labeled to stay strong to their beliefs, as opposed to just staying strong to them. People were able to abstain from those things in the past, and they called it having dignity.

I don't label myself and I don't wear the clothes associated with the music I like. Music is not all I am.

Music flows through my veins!!!!!!!!!!

Haha, just kidding. Lets see, as far as I go, I don't know what I am. I play soccer so I could be labeled a jock, but then again I like the whole "punk" genre and what not. I wear clothes associated with the music I listen to. I don't know. I don't necessarily believe in labels. I think once you label someone you pigeon hole them and they can't be anything else and I think people should be allowed to be numerous things.

There are kids who are definitely really in to and part of a scene. If they want to label themselves as such, cool go for it, it applies. There are others who do it to try and belong to something bigger than themselves and others who do it because they think it makes them cool.

it's comforting to some being able to put yourself into a group. it's like..it gives you a sense of belonging. that's my guess anyway. me on the other hand...i'm just a mess.
