I don't play computer/video games really but some of my friends have this game and they really like it. That's all I really know about it, haha.

I want to get some online rpg eventually in the next few months. I'm trying to decide between this or world of warcraft.
i'm leaning towards this though, because i can't handle the cheesy look and feel of the new warcraft character designs. that may sound lame, but oh well. lol.
again though - does anyone have this? feedback would be good.

I almost got World of Warcraft because I saw it got really high ratings and my friend who wouldn't really be into that stuff even said it was supposed to be good. I ended up not getting it though. Maybe eventually. I've never played one of those big online roleplaying games and I don't know if I'd like it. I didn't feel like blindly dropping $50 and then getting home and hating it. Plus, part of the reason I was going to get it is because a couple friends working over in London were going to get it and then we could play it together, but apparently it limits you to only playing with other people from the same country. At least that's what my friend said.

Really? Hopefully he was wrong. I didn't understand why they would cut you off to only playing with people in your country. That would be lame.

Talk to elanmoridin (kid from my school on AP), he knows all about this stuff. He played the Guild Wars betas and he's a WoW freak. I thinking about buying WoW this summer when I get more money, but that monthly fee is going to kill me. It looks pretty sweet and addicting.

There's a monthly fee? Haha, screw that. You just made my decision for me.

Yea, it's like $15 a month. I'm seriously considering buying it this summer though, although the monthly fee will probably kill me during the school year. I think I'm going to get a version of ebay so I don't have to pay $50. :P

I was just looking at it on eBay the other day too. I was going to wait for my friend to get it and let me know how it is before I blow any money. But if you have to pay $15 a month, no way.

I think it's worth it. I went and hung out at Zach's dorm a few weeks ago and watched a bunch of videos he had on it and watched him play and it looks like a lot of fun. According to him it's rather addicting as well.

Yeah, that's what I hear. My friend in London says he's still going to get it, even with the fee. So, I'm just going to wait and see what he says about it. Another friend of mine was telling me people get so addicted to these type of games that some have to go into addiction therapy. Crazy. Never played one before. That same friend when I said I heard that game was supposed to be good said "nooooo! It's the nerdiest game EVER! I work with guys who will come up and tell me all about how their level 22 druid is now captain of their guild or something. They spend like at least like 4 hours a night on it and 20 hours every weekend. If you get that, you can never make fun of me for doing anything "nerdy" ever again." Haha.

Yea, it probably has a very high nerd factor because people get so addicted to it. When I was hanging out with Zach all his friends were talking about it and I felt like I was in a completely different world with some new crazy language. It was rather funny.

I just bought Guild Wars the other day, and I must say, it's pretty badass.
I created a Necromancer character and it's pretty awesome because each race/sex dances differently, and the Male Necromancers dance like...hardcore punk style. It's pretty sweet:

They stole that from WoW! Well, I don't know if it was stolen, but I think it's the same for the characters in WoW. I really need to get more money so I can buy that game...Guild Wars looks pretty sweet too. DAMNIT I need more time. :(

Hmmm, maybe I'll have to check that out as well. Is Guild Wars a MMORPG as well?

Is Guild Wars a MMORPG as well?
Yes. Technically it is. But some people would like to say no because it's more like diablo 2 in diablo's rpg style and is not as mmorpg-ish as WoW or Everquest would be.
If that makes any sense at all. :animateds

it's sort of a combination of mmorpg, and not. like...some of the areas of the game aren't mmo, and such. but it still looks 100% kickass. I'm pretty sure that i'm going to get it simply because it is free . then i don't have to worry about my schedule with the game. if i am really busy for two months..cool! i just wont' play! i won't have to panic about any amount of fees or anything.

For what it is...I really enjoyed this game. I say enjoyed because I quit playing it not to long ago. Not to say that its a bad game...just that I grow tired of games rather quickly.
When this game came out everyone was expecting a 'free Warcraft III' and...as already mentioned...it isn't a mmorpg. So there may be people that knock it because it wasn't what they expected. This game kept me occupied for a couple weeks. The campaign may seem linear because it is...but that doesn't take away from the game because after advancing you can just morph around to where you would like to venture. This is a good buy, especially considering how well the servers manage to keep up to the demand.
