before I was really drunk. It was terrible. My God people, how can you listen to and enjoy such shitty pussy music? Now, I dont have a problem with pussy music. I love Elton John. I just dont see how you people who like that band can be entertained by that crap.

Does anyone remember the days when punk rock was still dangerous? I do. And truth be told, I kind of miss them.

Also you said that with a Coheed and Cambria avatar.

Thats what it used to be. Punk Rock used to be something dangerous and exciting. Parents and governements hated it. It was seen as the probable destruction of American youth in the eighties. It is definetly not some dude doing his best Billy Joel impression.
I dont think Mae is Punk Rock but they do get thrown into the various sub genres that punk rock has.

Coheed is super dangerous...they have light sabers.

It is definetly not some dude doing his best Billy Joel impression.

What's wrong with the Joelster?

Well since that and the red scare are over how about we just listen to the music and not worry about who and what it will corrupt.

Whats your point about Coheed? Its a band that I like. I didnt say to myself, "oh shit, Im going to get the most punk rock avatar ever!!" I like Coheed. I listen to tons of metal and hardcore, but I still love well written songs.

What's wrong with the Joelster?

Not a damn thing.

i would say 99 percent of the bands commonly discussed on this site don't fall under the classic definition of punk rock. the genre that's on this site talks more about ben folds and bright eyes than social d or nofx. i like mae, but that feeling comes from a different part of my brian that plays bad religion. i also like barry manilow. not relevant, just coming clean.

punk rock is a fashion style

punk rock is a business

stop reminiscing, there's no point.

I sometimes think this site's name should be changed because everything on here is supposedly all "punk" music. Fuck that, I consider it all rock in general. Sub genres are too complicated these days. And metal is just dumb with their sub genres. Death, goth, heavy, whatever...really dumb. Metal sucks these days so that doesn't much matter.

Also, country isn't considered rock at all, despite sometimes having a band. It's more like hmmmm....shit?

And also, Mae is amazing.

Yeah, I was disappointed I thought Days Away would be much better live they didnt have any energy at all, same goes for the bakersfield show though JP and Academy were the best ones of the night. And the guy who plays bass for JamisonParker now looks like he could be Jack Black's brother, such a crazy resemblence

I don't care what kind of music Mae plays, but I can't listen to it on record. It just bores me.

I did however see them live about a year and a half ago. It was in a basement with about 25 people, and it was awesome. I didn't know a single song ,and they weren't overly impressive with their music, but the scene was just so... classicly "scene".

Mae is a great band, if you take them for what they are, that is, a pop band that writes catchy songs. They're not meant to be groundbreaking. It's music for when you just want to have a poppy moment. However, I have to agree with Trevor about the Coheed comment. While I do enjoy their music, it's not as if they aren't poppy, because the fact is they are. Many want to construe their music as something more, but it's not. In reality, it's pop punk. So, I really see no difference in the purpose of Coheed and Mae's music.

Like when some kid who thinks he's amazingly scene wants to bbrag about something, he tells a story of when he saw some huge band that blew up back in the day with like 12 kids.

Or maybe just that random coffee-shop scene that seems so big in Buffalo, and I hate it. Just real underground shows and no big concerts.

Apparently you people cant take a joke.
I really dont like punk rock. I dont give a fuck what people think of other bands. I just listened to mae and it bored me to death, just like underOATH and Hawthorne Heights and the list goes on and on.
I dont think youre a poser if youre into bands like that. I have bands that I like that are pure pop. All I was saying was there was no edge to it at all, and it bored me to tears.
As far as the "punk rock" statement, it was made with tongue firmly in cheek. You people need to lighten up.
