You know most of the complainers here in California were the ones that voted for A.S. in the first place. I didn't vote, so I have no right to complain. People need to get over the things they don't like and work towards improving the causes they DO support. We don't get anywhere by complaining, not to sound like a hypocrite by "complaining" in this post, but seriously. Stop. Think. Act.

Uh first of all, is anyone here a transportation engineer? Maybe it's possible that in order to fix a street and repave it, you would need to break up some of the old concrete. I see this happen by my house ALL THE TIME.

Secondly, when did anyone point to the hole and say "This is a natural pothole, look how big it is." From what I read they just repaired the street and used it as a sign of what they intended to do.

The only negative comments I read were from people who said "Yeah, but there's a bigger pothole up the street." or "Yeah there were potholes, but I mean like, they weren't THAT unsightly." which basically sounds like a bunch of stupid people with an agenda to discredit Arnold.

I'm_A_Waste

I used to be a city worker in Illinois and one of my main jobs was to repair roads. Often times if there was a large crack off of a small hole we would dig up the entire area to prevent future spreading of a freshly repaired crack. I don't know if this was what happened here or if Arnold was just trying to prove a point, either way no tax money was used so I don't think it's a big deal. I'm not much of a politician and I didn't vote for the "governator" but I have been fairly impressed with him so far. Ryan, I have never been to New Hampshire, however I do live in San Diego and we got graded with the 2nd worst roads in the nation a few days ago (Kansas City was first)... I have popped 2 new tires in the last 6 months from hitting unmarked holes. We are fortunate to have good weather but our roadways suck balls. And to the people bitching about this being a non-music post: you could tell that from the title, you made the choice to view it, so don't complain. That's my two cents.

Oh, and mad props to darren for the Conan comment, you rock bro.

i don't think youre any more informed on this news post than I am. unless you can provide verifiably proof that he didn't make this hole, you're just standing up for a douchebag.
Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger traveled to a quiet San Jose neighborhood Thursday, and filled a pothole dug by city crews just a few hours before, as part of an attempt to dramatize his efforts to increase money for transportation projects.
now shut the fuck up.

bend over, MEWITHOUTYOU - here it comes:
Porrovecchio and his business partner, Joe Greco, said that at about 7 a. m. they became fascinated watching "10 city workers standing around for a few hours putting on new vests,'' all in preparation for the big moment with Schwarzenegger.

But their street, he noted, didn't even have a hole to pave over until Thursday morning.

"They just dug it out,'' Porrovecchio said, shrugging. "There was a crack. But they dug out the whole road this morning.''

"It's a lot of money spent on a staged event,'' said Matt Vujevich, 74, a retiree whose home faced the crew-made trench that straddled nearly the whole street. "We still have the same problems. Everything's a press conference.''

Did you? That same idiot you quoted went on to say:

"There was a crack. But they dug out the whole road this morning.''

Does this idiot know how to fix a road with a crack in it? Is he a specialist? Or is he just some jerk who wants to badmouth Arnold for fixing a street?

Case in point, since when has making a 10 x 15 foot hole to repair a city street been known as attempting to make a fake pothole??? How many 10 x 15 potholes have you seen out on the streets? Are people this desperate to find something to criticize??

The man consulted his portable GPS and replied, "You're in a hot air balloon, approximately 30 feet above a ground elevation of 2346 feet above sea level. You are at 31 degrees, 14.97 minutes north latitude and 100 degrees 49.09 minutes west longitude.

She rolled her eyes and said, "You must be a Republican."

"I am," replied the man. "How did you know?"

"Well," answered the balloonist, "everything you told me is technically correct, but I have no idea what to do with your information, and I'm still lost. Frankly, you've not been much help to me."

The man smiled and responded, "You must be a Democrat."

"I am," replied the balloonist. "How did you know?"

"Well," said the man, "you don't know where you are or where you're going. You've risen to where you are, due to a large quantity of hot air. You made a promise that you have no idea how to keep, and you expect me to solve your problem. You're in exactly the same position you were in before we met but, somehow, now it's my fault."

i think this post and thread is the funniest thing i've read all day. the different expose's (i dunno how to put an accent over the e, thats supposed to be ex-po-zay) of the human soul and emotion really make you happy to experience life. that someone can post their opinion and have it turn into a variable blood bath of words on the internet is amazing. as whatshisface said, we all are pretty much just fucking stupid.

instead of fighting on the internet, we should be living. we should be experiencing our life to the fullest in our own forms of happiness and not worry about things like this right now. life isn't too short, there is plenty of time to worry later. why not go out and enjoy your moments? read a good book, watch a good movie, enjoy a good person's company. stop fighting about stupid potholes.

this may sound like new age propaganda bull shit, and it probably is, but think about this: if when you die, there is no afterlife, and no anything, would you really want to have looked back on yourself and watched as you got so angry on an internet forum over semantics of "absolutepunk" and "absoluteliberal" and screamed about the differences between a fake pothole, a giant hole, and a crack in the ground?

that's all i have to say out of my retarded head.

yeah, i sure wouldnt mind looking at .,.. oh possibly three minutes... that i spent calling a liberal an asshole.

because lets see, ive been alive for almost nineteen years which is roughly 9986400 minutes. so really... 3 minutes is not that much of a difference.

besides, i find it really awkward you know me so well and that im not living and experiencing my life at all.

haha, i didnt say that. in fact, out of most of the posts i read on this, i enjoyed yours the most. i'm more referring to the earlier people that really got worked up over the whole ordeal. maybe its just me, but i read that article and when i finished i said "...what was the point of it?" we critisize arnold so much, but not that many people are doing much to do anything, except sitting and bitching and complaining, or running behind him with signs when you know he doesn't care. no one listens to the protests, they just say "look... another one." i'm not telling you you're not living your life how you should, i'm just saying that having a giant argument on the internet over something like a pot hole publicity stunt is ... well, stupid.

if staging filling a pothole is going to be your reason not to vote for Arnold Schwarzenegger as the governor of your state, then you need help.

Who the fuck does Jason Tate think he is to tell me not to vote for someone? Who people should or shouldn't vote for should be left up to each person to decide own there own. Not for someone who thinks they know everything. What a little bitch...

He's still better then that tool we had before, Gray Davis. Man that guy was a loser. It's just a pot-hole, not that big of a deal. Let's call it The PotholeGate Scandal.

I know you are probably feeling very proud of yourself, so I will break this easily.

A hole was made. BUT IT WASN'T A FREAKIN' FAKE POTHOLE. It was made to repair the damn street that had a crack in it.

Are people this desperate to find something to criticize??

exactly, great point...

I don't think that point is very valid, or even good for that matter.

Yeah it is actually. California used to lead in state's economy, now it has quickly become worse and worse.

California has become a joke. What were Arnold's qualifications?

like oh my god, i can't believe the creator of this website has an opinion and states it on here. I mean, seriously, just fuck freedom of speech or the right to have an opinion. Nobody has to read the article or the posts for this forum--but you chose to idiot. Fuck every stupid person who can't live with someones opinion. My opinion about politics--everyone's wrong, we're all fucking stupid.

No, there is a political forum. Why should he have the ability to put it on the main page, but no one else can?

nothing to do w/this post, but on sports center (espn) they just said 'what conor o'berst is to bright eyes, edgar renteria is to the red sox.' yea, buddy.

So Edgar Renteria is...the Red Sox?

How about what Conor Oberst was to the Faint, Freddie Mitchell was to the Eagles....kicked out.

Who the fuck does Jason Tate think he is to tell me not to vote for someone? Who people should or shouldn't vote for should be left up to each person to decide own there own. Not for someone who thinks they know everything. What a little bitch...

Jason Tate is God. I swear he was elected as the Pope.

hailing from Massachusetts, I can assure you that nobody else has priority over us in roadways needing attention. I'd love to see Romney take something like this up as his agenda, but he's too busy campaigning for the 2008 presidential election.

any major city is going to have potholes dude. philly roads suck ass, new york city suburbs suck ass, memphis tn is terrible...

big citys (which san jose is a major city in CA) are going to have road problems, because of the amount of traffic.

but ive been in detroit for hockey, and yeah, those roads were bad.

i wasnt going to read every response to this thread, so i do not know what anyone else is really saying about this article, but i just wanted to say that i have worked road construction before and the part where it describes the crack in the road being torn up by workers to make a hole, only to be filled by Arnold and workers and then get steamrolled, etc. is a standard road construction procedure. the article is making it seem like the road did not need to be torn up and only was torn up to create a pothole to be filled, when really a big long crack in a road always has to be torn and dug up, thereby causing a huge "pothole", before it can be filled again to make a smooth, better road. when people just fill in a crack or hole and do not dig it up and create a deeper hole, the road damage is more likely to reoccur and the problem is not really solved, because it is originating deep below the road. so i really dont get how its that bad what the article is saying, its not like it was all faked to make him look good, i'm sure they did fix the road in that one area and did the proper procedure for fixing a big long crack in the road and the fact that the bright lights are there and stuff is not that weird or "fake" either since we all know politicians do shit like that all the time, like when presidential candidates have 100 flags behind them or kiss a baby to look good. arnold is not any more fake than any other politician i feel, and the article is phrased poorly so it seems like the road was torn up so arnold could fill it when really it had to be torn up to best fix the road. i'm sure he will do alot to fix california roads and like some people were saying before, california is only so fucked up now because the democrats got it there.
