View Full Version : Come on dudes, this isn't a big deal

What is the big fucking deal? There's about a million fucking things that could be discussed, yet people have to flip a shit over us not allowing ONE TOPIC... holy shit eating christ... it's ONE FUCKING TOPIC.
A lot of friends I know at labels and what not feel these discussions about leaked albums hurt their business and they KINDLY ask me to remove some of the threads. Is that so hard to understand? It's perfectly reasonable.

I really don't understand why people are disagreeing with it. It's illegal for them to get leaked, and people are pissed that they're not getting a leaked album. Doesn't make any sense.

Eda, if you're cool, you'd take the quiz over again because I've never seen this guy act like anything but a big fucking penis.
I understand he has to follow what Tate says, but Scott follows what Tate says too and doesn't act like the hottest god damn thing in the world when he does it. This guy is like RAWR I DELETED YOUR THREADS BITCHES, SUCK MY COCK. and then he throws up the internet-Sieg Heil.

A-men. Besides, practically everyone here has AIM. I'm sure if you wanted something and couldn't find it, if you asked around, someone would have it. You don't need to ask for shit repeatedly on AP when they've asked not to. I admit, I've posted in those threads before, but generally it's for older stuff I can't find at my local stores.
It's not that hard to break that habit if you take some time to learn how to do it yourself.

Haha, too many shitheads on the boards. Ill give ya some points.
the labels need to learn something first before this will ever work. they need to make sure ALL of their artists do their best to make good albums, not an album with a few good singles. since this will NEVER happen downloading will never stop and people will not buy every album. i mean stop making albums with filler. if this could ever happen people would buy albums more often. but even then some people just dont care and will DL anyway. the only way to combat illegal DLing is to make good albums. not albums with a few good singles.
like i said some peopel will now always just DL./ but the real music fans will buy albums they enjoy. but only if its worth buying.
music should NOT be about money. fucking bastards

so many albums have so much fucking filler. and then they woner why no ones buys it. the labels dont give a fuck if all the songs are good. they think with a few good singles it will sell. but with DLing that doesnt work anymore. they need to try something new. like making good albums,,.... what a fucked concept.

I guess the problem with this whole thing is the fact that the record industry is just that, a business. The labels want and need to make money, so they put out as many records as they can afford to promote and produce. As long as the record recoups the money they spend on promotion, I guess they're happy. It's unfortunate, but it's true...

Thank god for you Dom,

Haha, so... let me get this straight. When a label does have influence on a band's album and pushes their bands to write singles, kids yell "sell outs" and bash the label... but when a label doesn't influence or push their bands, kids yell "download the cd!".... so tell me, how do the labels win?
And watch me care................
Nope.
I personally couldn't give a flying tit whether you care or not, I was simply proving the point that Filehsharing does not benefit everyone like one of the users above stated. S\o yeah, you can go on not caring and that's cool.
Ok, but 95% of the time on here it is very very very small shit, a lot of the traded bands aren't even promoted by this website at all. So therefore, when something like trading a major label band like Coldplay, then I'm fine with deleting it I guess. But as for the smaller shit, let it go.

This just goes to show you have absolutely no idea what labels are like. Album leaks can be great sometimes for SMALL band, sure, but more often than not, they hurt album sales when the band has an established fan base. You can't tell me that Acceptance's leak was good for them - that band only sold 8500 in their first week...with no leak, I'd say that number is 18,000 or so.
Yes, filesharing has saved my life. I would of spent a combined $30 atleast, on buying the new GAD and TREOS, would have been the biggest mistake of my life.
And filesharing has led me on to bands, where I then went out and bought albums. (American Analog Set, Atmosphere, Eyedea & Abilties, Kind Of Like Spitting..etc...etc...)

Let the labels cut downloading. Then no one will buy the shitty CDs that come out of this watered down scene, so only good bands with good albums will come out, and everybody wins. CDs are less likely to be a waste of money, downloading would go down, according to Greg-the-human-psychology-machine, labels would make money, and all is right with the world.

When bands put out a shitty cd, kids aren't going to want to waste their money. Not all of us have the cash to blow on random cds. Not all of us have cash to blow on cds in general. If the cd is worthy, many of us will go out and buy it anyways. You're always going to have kids that don't follow the norm. You're always going to have kids that don't do what they should do. Should you expect anything more or less? Fuck no. Kids are always going to be downloading. We're still going to talk about leaked albums. So just get the fuck over it.
I made this argument yesterday, and listen carefully.
Kids discuss the albums to find out which ones are worth downloading, kids download the albums to see which ones are worth buying...
WHY THE FUCK does the "discussion" stage have to be done? Are people to cheap to even download the albums now? Download what you need to download and leave it at that, the discussion does not need to happen and it does nothing except piss people off. See where I am coming from?

Its a lot easier to just download from someone that wants to send it from you. Yes, I am too lazy to wait 8 hours in line on soulseek when I can download it in 10 minutes through someone from here.
Plus, why do the labels give a shit about 20 kids on a messageboard trading when there are millions over filesharing networks, such as soulseek.

I made this simple last night, and I'll make it simple again: I will get the "fuck over it" once you sign a contract taking all of the financial responsibility of lawsuits away from me and putting it on yourself. Once that's done you can talk about all the downloading you want.
Frank Giaramita
05/30/05, 10:00 AM
We have to "discuss" to know exactly what albums are out and which ones are even worthy of getting. If someone who's opinion I trust were to tell me a cd is shitty, I'm not going to want to waste my time. Sure, that's just me being lazy, but I'm an American.
See, I don't understand. You discuss the albums to see which ones to download, and download the albums to see which ones to buy... that's two stages you have to go through before buying the album, and that's two stages that will filter out a lot of kids who have based their judgements on other peoples opinions. In the end, less people will end up buying the labum, not just bc they downloaded and didnt buyt it, but bc they discussed it and didn't download it. It's just ridiculous... there is NO NEED to discuss it and I don't see why it's such a big deal if that aspect of this forum is censored. Do what you do and leave it at that. There's a million things that could be talked about in these forums and it's perfectly reasonable and justified as to why this topic of conversation cannot exist... IT's ILLEGAL AND PEOPLE CAN GET SUED. End of story. Deal with it, it's not huge of a problem and the discussion doesn't have to happen at all. If youw ant to downlaod shit, that's your thing, but I don't see why you need to discuss it.

Let me pull out my dictionary for you.
joke ( P ) Pronunciation Key (jk)
n.
Something said or done to evoke laughter or amusement, especially an amusing story with a punch line.
A mischievous trick; a prank.
An amusing or ludicrous incident or situation.
Informal.
Something not to be taken seriously; a triviality: The accident was no joke.
An object of amusement or laughter; a laughingstock: His loud tie was the joke of the office.
Something Jason Tate doesn't understand.
Let me spell it out for you: THIS IS NOT A FUCKING JOKE FOR ME. You can laugh and get your jollies off of it all you want, but this is VERY serious to me, and I will take it as such.

You guys are ridiculous. Be sensible. How many users are on this fucking board? To censor the "discussion" threads to just "smaller bands" would be insanely hard.
First, what defines a "smaller band" as opposed to someone like Finch or Coldplay, to use the examplkes in this thread already. Sure there are extremes, like Sounds Like Violence and Coldplay, but near the middle it gets blurred.
Second, the amount of traffic this site gets would make it so hard to filter through and make sure those defined bands are all that gets sent around, not the bigger bands. Someone would have to watch 24/7 because there's going to be some asshole or some ignorant kid asking for the big stuff anyway.

Which is why we are deleting ALL threads, because WE ARE NOT THE AUTHORITY ON WHAT CAN BE RELEASED OR NOT RELEASED. Purevolume links are fine, myspace links are fine, however discussion of sharing anything else is not fine. We don't know who has given permission for the downloads, and we can't be held responsible for something like that because the excuse "o we didnt know u didnt want that shared" won't mean DICK in court.

Actually, yes, bc New Found Glory were gaining speed way before this massive pirating storm erupted like it recently has. My point is, whether I agree or disagree with you doesn't make a difference. It does not matter - I could care less if there was a proven fact downloading HELPED bands, because even if that is true - it's still the copyright's owner's decison to give out their music. that's the purpose of the copyright law to begin with .. so that the creator has control over their work!!!! You're actually the only one in this whole discussion who knows how to have a formal and civil discussion. And I agree with you, downloading helps indie labels a lot, and a lot of younger bands who are gaining head speed owe a lot of it to irc and pirating. However, our opinions do not matter in the long run and the labels obviously disagree, and we have to listen to their requests whether Jason, you, I or anyone else disagree or not.
