View Full Version : "Go listen to something with heart in it"
One of the most retarded lines ever used on here. Not only that, people use it all the time to hate on music. Personally, I think most music has heart in it... the lyrics come from your heart, what you're feeling. So what the fuck? Another thing, people who say this normally hate emo. How does emo have no heart?

i don't see how people can look at a band like dashboard confessional and say they have no heart and that the music has no meaning and is stupid.
the entire "the swiss army romance" cd was about how chris missed his girlfriend while he was on tour, then when he returned he found that she had cheated on him leading to "the places you have come to fear the most".
thats him telling his story first about love, then it leading to heartbreak.

I think it just basically has to do with peoples veiw on music. If a band means something to you, or if you can relate to a band, then 'they are going to have heart'..

I think almost anything you listen to has heart in it. Whether you like it or not it had to come from somewhere. Or, it could just be the drugs they were on when they wrote it, thats why I said "almost."

no most music does not have heart in it. consider everything on all these "indie" labels i put in that poll with the exception of converge, bear vs. shark, OLD boy sets fire, grade, and a few others. i haven't even read your profile and i know you like shit music.
you are a fucking douche.
if you are in the midwest sometime and would like an asswhooping i will gladly oblige if you'll agree to afterwards listen to some good music.

i think every musician has enough heart to want to convey feelings or want to write something that catchy but not necessarily deep, or else i don't think they'd be here. whether your good charlotte or someone as diverse as... i don't know say anything, you've gotta have enough heart to survive long touring and the music industry and stuff like that. i think where many fall short is their lack of talent in songwriting. i was at a local show a long time ago, and this kid was playing an acoustic set. it was god awful. during his last song though, he starts breaking down in tears. it was obvious he was singing about being heartbroken over a girl, and apparently she was there that night. the song was still an awful mess, but i still thought it had more heart than a lot of stuff i write. i don't think he was just a crybaby. i think that's where the misconception is.

50 Cent has no heart in it.
im gonna have to say ABSOLUTE SHITE is correct. and i mean ,most music these days just doesnt have the heart, atleast not like they did back in the 70s or even the fuckin 80s. even fuckin grunge *which i hate btw, had fuckin heart. and by the way if youre ignorant to rap music, just shut up about it. rap actually does have more heart to it than most rock out today, as sad as that is. when im smokin a joint listenin to some talib kweli or even some gangsta shit, there isnt much better to listen to because u can feel that the musics all they got and they love it

i agree.
but i hate it when bands or singers sing songs written for them by someone else. it just doesnt seem as real.

Yes, that is all that matters when it comes to something having heart.
I also agree with the person a couple above me: It's not the same if somebody else writes something for a band or an artist to perform. I rarely listen to that stuff, because I prefer the music I listen to, to have heart in it.
But you have to think, quite a few people are out there writing songs to be Top 40 hits, not for an emotional outlet.
And I'm pretty when the guy way above me said "50 cent didn't have heart". It didn't mean that 50 cent represented all forms of rap, dipshit.

No I didn't mean that 50 Cent represented all rap. I like some rap.
