Hey guys.

This is like my second post i believe, but I suppose I should jump in head first. This lyric is from one of my band's songs.
It is called 'self harmony' and revolves around a story about a young girl who self harms in order to try to 'erase her pain'.
It takes place in part narrative-part character based phrasing.

OH! And no, we're not an emo band.

Self Harmony

In her room...
after the arguments and heated fights, she swoons
Trying to cut away the
pain thats in her head...
She opens up her arms and bleeds onto her bed...

The next day...
Her boyfriend comes round to apologise
and say...
He'd like to save his cash and
then take her away...
Then he spots the dark red stains and he just say's...

"Don't you
understand that you're wrong?
You can't get rid of your pain
with a blade,
that is just dumb,
you're gonna go...
to the doctor if you wanna
come back home..."

So she thinks...
That she might just go for the help,
though she's a freak.
It might support the belief that it is not her bad...
It's just a small belief,
but it's all she ever had...

So she goes,
And though she feels worse
for his
patronising tones...
She accepts that he will help her fix her head.
it's just a little dream,
but it's all she really had...

"Young girl,
you're gonna take all these pills...
Come back in six weeks,
By then you'll be over it,
Just don't think...
That you will ever face a shred of normalcy..."

So she tried...
She tried so hard this time,
to make up for the hurt,
that she'd put on to herself,
and put on to others...
but the pain got too much, and she began to weep...
She got all blurry and,
the blade went in too deep...

So there you go.
Hope you liked the somewhat horrible tale. I will say, it is entirely fictional, and written from an outside POV. I have never known anybody who has died as a result of the issues this song concerns, but have known people who have tried to use it as a coping mechanism. It is a horrible little mental disease, but it's very prevailent in the scenes I move in, which is a shame.
