Most people that I know who play lacrosse are ex-hockey players or play it during the off-season.

at my high school, there was definitely a lot of guys who played multiple sports, but it wasn't because they decided to quit another one or couldn't make it in that sport. they just wanted to play lacrosse, in addition.

I played middie in high school and in college for two years before transferring and ending my college lacrosse career. I tried one of these threads a long time ago and it died.
