BEDlight For BlueEYES (http://www.bedlightforblueeyes.com) have posted their cover of Third Eye Blind (http://www.3eb.com/)'s "Jumper" on their pureVOLUME page (http://www.purevolume.com/bedlightforblueeyes).
I don't like BLFBE. I love 3EB. The cover is...eh. Well, it gets better as it goes along.
edit: I take that back. I really like it.

IMO Christian has one of the best (if not the best) voices in music today. This guy can hit notes i've never even heard of.

Well, he does have a great range, but I just don't like his vocal style.
It's not my style, ya know what I'm saying?

I am a huge 3eb fan. I and really like Bedlight. This cover is really good but doesn't beat the original. Can't wait for BLFBE's full length and to see them live.

I'm listening to the song right now and I'm not feeling it. He can sing well but it just sounds funny to me. Don't like. I need to go listen to the 3EB version now.

I'm really impressed ..... this is the first time I've heard anyting from this band.... Good singer, but maybe to much of a pop style (in cover that is) ....... maybe jason mraz-ish? ........ I've avoided listening to them because their name is ridiculous.... guess I assumed they couldn't come up with good music if they couldn't even come up with a good name... I guess I'll have to listen to other songs.

wow. i dont really know how one could not jizz over christian's voice. go see them live, maybe you'll change your mind. They are on tour; check them out before you finalize your opinion.

this cover = no thanks. this band is way overhyped too, judging from these songs and how bland they sound. why does their purevolume description say "They are metal meets..." ? Don't even hear the slightest nuance of metal in any of these songs.

my mom always told me if you're gonna do something do it right or don't do it at all. the dude's voice sounds mad awkward. i dunno about this cover, definately not one of my personal favorites, or even close, but a good attempt none the less.

i feel like this cover could've been a little ballsier, but it's still well done, especially towards the end
i love christian's vibrato. it sounds so intense.
this band sometimes reminds me of the Grey AM. Does anyone remember them?
His voice is like the guy's voice from Acceptance, he has a great voice, but its not really anything special or original in today's music world.

I can't wait to hear the OTHER bands covers for the album...but this one was pretty good....but I disagree that his voice is one of the best....Jason from Acceptance=flawless

I agree with most of the people here that this dudes voice is good, no doubt about about it. This band just got the band end of the deal by covering a song that is absolutely great. Third Eye Blind is just such an amazing band and I would see them live any day. :dweeba2:

I had no idea that guy was such a good singer. Man. I always assumed this band would be blah, because I don't listen to the kind of stuff they play. 3eb's my favorite band. Everyone go buy "Out of the Vein."

just because somebody 'can sing' and has a 'great range' doesn't mean that he is undisputeably good - the voice has to match the music in a way that the listener appreciates, and since there are so many listeners with different tastes, it is likely that somebody is going to appreciate this guy. i, however, saw them live at the bamboozle, and while christian was very intense, the complete package wasn't my thing.

Phil BND is probably the most underrated vocalist around right now. The kid doesn't hit a bad note, ever.

06/01/05, 09:35 AM
the guy can sing, i'll give him that. he should make better use of his talent than to be in an over-rated screamo band.. just my opinion.
but jason vena does own him.

not a fan of the vocals. he has no edge. he sounds like he should be a contestant on american idol. all i can see in my head is him on the american idol stage singing ths cover. it doesnt sound bad, by any means. theres just no edge.

I think this cover is amazing. It's very hard to cover a song like that since it's so great and everyone loves it but their spin on it is very very good in my opinion. His voice is really one of the best I've ever heard and goes so well with that song and the piano and everything.
And this band live is something you should all check out. Great stuff. They're a real down to earth band.

I like this band but this cover is sickening. They should get rid of it immediately.
Some chick singer recently covered the song "I Want You" by 3EB. I heard it while in The Yankee Candle store (yeah... that's right, fuck you). It actually wasn't too horrible. I cant figure out who it was though.

he really does. proof that some of these kids on here who profess to hate american idol would actually love some of the singers if they weren't on the show.
i HATE this band's name, am not a fan of their music, and i never really liked this song. i am really looking foward to the third eye blind tribute this will be on though.

I wish it wasnt so long from the first time I heard the demos months ago until the release of the CD. As for the cover its pretty good I actually just picked up that 3eb cd at a garage sale for a quarter I use to have it but got rid of it. For a pop rock band they are pretty good.

With the two albums before it there is no way that it couldn't be their worst. Still fucking great but its up against pretty lofty standards when you are comparing it to s/t and Blue.
And when does this tribute album come out?

go see them live if you get a chance. seriously. both guitarists have metal influences with their rythms and some lead lines. the 3 songs on there are off their OLD demo that was out before trustkill signed them. since then theses songs have evolved and gotten more of an edge. their description of thier sound on their pv page is pretty damn accurate. after listening to their recordings the first time i wasn't blown away, but then i saw them live a few days later (this was a few months ago) and they left me speechless. since then ive seen them 5 times.
i also think this was a really well done cover. this was their interpretation of a great song and I think it fits the song's lyrics and general mood. i really dont think a heavy version of this song would be appropriate given what the song is about. thats just my opinion though. anyway...again...SEE THEM LIVE before you judge.

awesome one of my favirote all time bands being coverd by a band that deffintily has the potiential. im gonna go check it out now
I've stood as indifferent on BLFBE for a while.
I'll agree this guy has quite a voice.
The instrumentation is different, interesting.
It's a decent cover of an incredible song
3EB's "Blue" is without a doubt my favorite album of all time.
Third Eye Blind is the band that got me into alternative rock.
I cannot wait for the tribute album.
EDIT: Woah. I didn't realize how abbreviated the title of this post is.

The singer has a good voice but he is totally over doing it in this song. Does he think he's Clay Aiken? Maybe this guy belongs on Broadway rather then in a rock band. I could see him in Rent.

christian from bedlight, jason from acceptance, and phil from brand new disaster, best singers in the scene
ok basically this is how it truly breakdowns. jason isnt a soulful singer, he isnt a "i want to impress people with my vocal riffing and my range etc" jason sings with a ton of grace and swiftness. he doesnt really try to impress the listener. he just goes for the simple sounding goodness, no risks, really, just crisp and simple and great -- the singer of bedlight is more a soul esque singer where he does tons of jumps and riffs and has crazy good control and flaunts it... two completely different types of singers...we wont know if jason can do what the singer in bedlight can do, and we wont know if that singer in bedlight can do what jason can do because its two completely separate vocal styles. one is comparable to jazon mraz one is comparable to coldplay. you do the math.
personally, im a trained singer, i heard this and almost cried. but the day i heard the acceptance record i had the same reaction. so its just too different to compare accurately.
yeah.

Infamous or famous, it's all the same to me. Basically, we took a risk with this song. It has a very very personal meaning to me and I wanted to make it more of a lullaby that transforms itself the more I felt an urgent need to do so. It's tough to explain. Simplicity was the key form the get go. You'll notice it doesn't have drums, at the most a tambourine. That's because I'm singing to a very specific person and its not about the instrumentation as much as the power in the words and the beauty and simplicity of the melody. Stephen Jenkins was a god to me when I was a kid. This song became part of my life in a huge way and part of that went into it too. I am a soul singer. I feel it from somewhere deep in my gut and just let it rip, no pretense or calculation involved. Anytime I open my mouth it comes from that place. A very honest and very real place for me. I couldn't be happier with the song and the album came out. I make music for myself. If you love it and would fight for us, then we (BEDLIGHT) are your brothers. Anyone who has ever shown us any support or praise knows that first hand. If you hate it, i could give a fuck. All I ask is that you post exactly how much you detest it so more people can check it out. Like I said, infamous or famous, it's all the same to me. I'm in it for the music and the connection we share with our people. I could care less about restrictions or expectations. I'm not a public servant. I'm an artist. To those of you who loved the song and could identify with it in someway, we say thank you from the bottom of our hearts. That connection, that honesty... is all we've ever really strived for.
<3 Christian
