Here's my guess; there's very likely not going to be an Oscars ceremony (at least not in February), so they thought they'd be funny?

Thank you Academy. Although it'd be so much better if instead of the Shrine Auditorium you'd make the Oscars in some sweaty dirty desert and let Hugh grow some stubble.
