So today, right now, I'm supposed to be at my school's formal dance. About an hour ago, I was all dressed and ready to go, waiting for my boyfriend to get here so we could go to the dinner that was being held before the dance. I get a call from my boyfriend, however, saying that not only is he going to be late, he hasn't left his house yet. He lives about two and a half hour away from where I'm going to school. So now I'm stuck here waiting for him to get here, and by the time he gets here and we get to the place where the formal is being held, it's going to be close to nine thirty. The formal ends at eleven thirty. The reason he's late is because he had to change the headlight on his car because it went out a few days ago. My question: How do I tell him I'm pissed he didn't change the headlight sooner without hurting him? Is there a way? Because I'm not pissed, I'm just really disappointed. I'm sorry this is so long, but thoughts and ideas would be great, I still have an hour and a half to kill.....

Yeah, I was looking for a nonconfrontational way to approach him. I really just want to deck him because we've been planning this for about a month.

I'm glad I've got a few hours to work through this, if I didn't, I'd probably say or do something stupid.

Just tell him that. Don't ignore it and take your frustration out on him in other ways cause it will just ruin the rest of the night.

Get a baseball bat, break the headlight, and tell him to fix it...

But in all honestly, I'd say to wait til the dance is over and just talk to him and tell him how it made you feel... like if you did it before the dance, it might ruin the night... just have fun cause the dances don't come around too often.

Lol, actually, there's one in the Spring too, but yeah. I'll probably wait until after the dance to talk to him.

Very true.

Actually, I'm wondering if two hours is really worth it and if we shouldn't just go do something else and wait for the Spring one....

I don't know, maybe go get dinner since we're all dressed up and neither of us have eaten? Something like that.

That'd be really fun... but if you're going to do that, why not just go spend the two hours at the dance, then go eat... it'd be better than no dance, and you two would spend more time with eachother.

but then again his opinion doesn't matter since he pulled that 'fix my headlight at the last minute' stunt.

I almost did, but I'm glad I didn't. The first words he said after saying hi was that he was sorry. And we had a good time.

I'm too late I know.. I was going to say wait until he shows up and see if he apologizes profusely. If he admits that he's uber late for now good reason, then fine, you can't be mad, especially if he's being cute about it. But if not, then I'd be pissed at him, cuz you know the headlight thing is kind of ridiculus. If it's important, you can definitely drive for 2 hours with one headlight. I see people do it all the time! If his other headlight blew out on the way down and he had to pull over and change one using the spare headlight he had in the trunk -- THEN that's a good excuse!
Anyway, like i said, it's too late.
Glad you had a good time; you're much more mature than I am...

Well, he apologized before I got a chance to get angry, so I just told him it bugged me, and he said he was busy with finals and he just kept forgetting. And he was extra sweet the entire evening.
