THURSDAY's holiday show in Connecticut at Toad's Place...
THURSDAY
THE SLEEPING
THE DEAR HUNTER
MOVING MOUNTAINS
Such a late show.... I'm used to all the shows in Boston starting at 6. Got back to Boston at 4 am, oof.
Moving Mountains was awesome. I had an awful vantage point for seeing them, but they had a solid set. Definitely checking them out in Cambridge, MA soon.
The Dear Hunter was fun, although they didn't have the most solid set I've seen. The new songs sound awesome and definitely got me pumped for Act 3.... I think they played 3 new songs? Someone else can confirm that hopefully.
The Sleeping was good, but the new piano was WAY overpowering with sound from where I was. I will blame that on the venue, not the band, but I couldn't hear anything other than piano. The crowd reaction was awesome, way better than any reaction I've seen in Mass. or Rhode Island for them. They also did a couple new songs. Their set started with a close friend of the singer proposing to his girlfriend on stage. So cute!
Thursday was phenomenal. I've never seen them in a club environment; it's always been on some big festival stage or something. Them without a barrier is even more intense and intimate than I imagined. They pulled a bunch of songs they usually don't play. They played one song they've never played live (Friendsitaf?) and played that new song on their Myspace. During their encore, the singer dedicated Autobiography to Dominic Mallary of Last Lights. This was very touching, and I am very grateful for him doing so.... For the Boston kids in the crowd and anyone else who knew Dom, this meant a lot.
Thursday's set list:
At This Velocity
Division Street
Under The Blinding Light
The Other Side Of The Crash
Understanding In A Car Crash
Between Rupture And Rapture
Friendsitaf (new song)
Dead Songs
Resuscitation Of A Dead Man (new song)
Signals Over The Air
For The Workforce, Drowning
Standing On The Edge Of Summer
As He Climbed The Dark Mountain
Jet Black New Year
---
Tomorrow I'll Be You
Autobiography Of A Nation
