Remember when Take Action had a stellar lineup and compilation every year? This is the weakest lineup they could have possibly done. That aside, it'll draw well and get lots of money towards the cause so it's all good.

Crappy lineup.
If I go to this, it'll be pretty much solely for Every Avenue and the knowledge that proceeds go to charity.

You have got to be fucking kidding me, this can't even begin to hold a candle to last years lineup.
Granted the point of the this tour is charity/awareness, but it would help if the bands are at least decent.

I was going to go to the 2006 tour and I didnt. Boy do I regret that. I'll probably NEVER go to a Take Action show if it keeps going downhill like this. I mean, what happened to all the bands?

Although, Every Avenue is decent.
If there were more than one band I really like on this tour, I might go to both the 9:30 and Rams Head shows. But, I'm probably only going to go to the Rams Head, unless I decide I need to see Meg & Dia again.

Meg & Dia > The other shit bands on this tour
Why would anybody listen to Meg & Dia when they can just listen to Tegan and Sara. Meg & Dia are such a lame rip of them it's pathetic. It's like, "Hey we like how Tegan and Sara sound, but we want to make it more marketable because dykes are scurrrrrry! OH NOES!" Not to mention they don't have even half the musical competance as Tegan and Sara.

I went to the tour last night in St. Louis. I'm not really big fans of any of the bands, but I just kinda went. I'm not familiar with Anarbor. Every Avenue played what you expect they would play. Breathe Carolina was the worst thing I have ever experienced. Meg & Dia played a couple new songs, and some old songs, and a cover. Cute Is What We Aim For did a good mix of both albums.
Not very many people at all at the show, compared to most other shows at Pop's, where the show was held. I was pretty shocked actually. I know I don't have any setlists, because I don't know many of the song names from the bands, I was just posting my thoughts of the show.

For some reason I am not very surprised. As much as I love Meg & Dia they are not as popular as they should be yet. And to me Cute is not really much of a headliner. I like Every Avenue, but they are not very popular either. Breathe Carolina, I hear alot of people talking about them, but I don't think they are strong enough to draw too many people. Not too familiar with Anarbor, but curious.

Yes, this lineup was not strong at all. None of these bands are majorly popular, and most of them have very little material to play from.
There have been so many better lineups in the past.

So I guess there isn't that many people there? Good news for me :D I think I might go? But I don't know. I'm excited to see every band, except Breathe Carolina since I'm not really in to their music. Went to the Toronto date last night, and EA's setlist is..
(not in order at all)
Think of You Later
Days of the Cold
A Story to Tell Your Friends
Trading Heartbeats
Freak Out
Chasing The Night
Where Were You (they ended with this for sure)
Meg & Dia 's set list:
(not in order)
Roses (opened)
Halloween
What If
Black Wedding
Monster (ended)
* I know they played 1 or 2 songs as well, but I can't remember :(
I can't remember Anarbor's set list, and I didn't stay for Breathe Carolina or Cute. I just know Cute played a mix of their old and new stuff. For sure, I know Cute played:
Lyrical Lies
The Fourth Drink Instinct
Doctor (they opened with this)
There's A Class For This (ended with this)
The Curse of Curves
Risque
Newport Living.

I went to the show in NY yesterday. It was decent. Anarbor was really good. Every Avenue was decent. I went for Meg & Dia, they were great but not many people were into them. They Played:
Roses
Black Wedding
Cardigan Weather
No Rain Cover
Halloween
Hug Me Till You Drug Me
Dont Remember
What If
Monster
Breathe Carolina played an extremely short set, like 4-5 songs tops. I didn't stay for CIWWAF.

02/20/09, 07:24 AM
Definitely excited for this show, but the lineup isn't that great. I'm not surprised some of you are saying the shows weren't that crowded. Cute Is What We Aim for tends to never sell out. I'm going to the show tonight in Baltimore, and looking forward to that. Breathe Carolina is just awful...can't wait to see how they do live...
fly_guy
02/20/09, 03:17 PM
Cute Is What We Aim For doesn't sell out because their fans are 13 year olds that don't know what concerts are. And if they do know what concerts are, they arent going because of the "mosh pits" at the CIWWAF shows.

cute is what we aim for has sold out every time they've played in columbus
granted, the first 2 times were at a 300 capacity venue with very good lineups overall, and the last time was their coheadliner with secondhand serenade. it still seems that cbus loves cute . i must say they are a guilty pleasure of mine, i love them haha
EDIT
although i do doubt this tour will sell out in columbus, i do think it will have a decent turnout

Saw this show last night was kind of disappointed because meg and dia ended up playing 3rd and breathe carolina the direct support. But I will have to say breathe carolina with their strobe lights and whatever had the crowd going more than Cute, that says something... maybe not good, but that says something.
Oh well Meg and Dia killed it, I am glad to see absolutepunk paying some attention to them as well with those preview clips.

Their set this tour is pretty sweet too. Lots of new songs. They will sooo make it worth it. Lol no pressure though. I was pretty impressed.
After seeing this tour twice it was odd. On the first night I thought Every Avenue and Breathe Carolina did better than expected. On the second night I thought Anarbor and Cute did better. But of course Meg & Dia killed it both nights.

Remember when Take Action had a stellar lineup and compilation every year? This is the weakest lineup they could have possibly done. That aside, it'll draw well and get lots of money towards the cause so it's all good.
yeah, really... the most recent compilation was weak also, didn't even bother buying it... i usually do to support the cause.
i guess buying my tickets to last year's show and ending up not going (fuckfuckfuck) made up for it.

I was going with a friend because she wanted to see Meg and Dia and I sort of wanted to see Breathe Carolina but I ended up forgetting I'm not that bummed out though

I've decided that I really need to see Meg & Dia and it'll be convenient to see Every Avenue (finally) for the first time. Thanks SupJustin for the free ticket! However if your reading this, this doesn't cover the damage costs you did to my car. I need to be your man-date to 2/3 more shows in the next few weeks. Just kidding, bro (kind of.)

P.S. We all know you're going for Cute. It's okay, though, really.

I went to the LA show last night. I don't have any setlists, but i'll give brief recaps:
Anarbor:
They were all right. The crowd was into them. They had a big group of fans up front. Although there were douchebags galore early on too that thought it'd be fun to push the crowd around and a couple dudes who tried to open up a pit?!
Every Avenue:
I was familiar with a few of their songs, but they only played one of the songs I really knew. At one point they asked the crowd to open up a pit...umm...why? They were fun even though the drummer and guitarist look kind of out of place (and old) to be playing in a pop band. I met their lead singer after and he was nice. They were all nice dudes and took time to meet with fans after their set.
Breathe Carolina:
These guys are ridiculous and I'm not being complimentary. Ugh. I really hope this trend passes. They did their Miley Cyrus cover from Punk Goes Pop 2 which the crowd ate up. I dunno if it's just my girlfriend and I who thought this, but it seemed like the screamer's screams were pre-recorded. Way too clear and clean to be live.
Meg & Dia:
This was my second time seeing them and although i'm not familiar with too much of their stuff, they were really good. The parents of the younger kids seemed to enjoy them too. heh. Love their cover of No Rain.
CIWWAF:
I enjoyed their demos but totally lost love for this band when they opened up for Paramore about 4 years ago and had such a shitty performance and the most obnoxious crowd. Last night though was a different band than I saw 4 years ago. Shaant looks like crap but sang a great set and was into it (if it was partly thanks to the Miller Lite he was drinking between songs, then so be it). Dave Melilo was an awesome addition to this band and everyone was into it. Jeff, their guitar player really put on a show too. Also, the crowd wasn't even that obnoxious and it also seemed a good amount of people left before Cute's set too. Go figure. They may not be my favorite band, but I enjoyed their set and glad I caught Shaant on a good night.

I went to the show at The Marquee in AZ, March 11th. The turn-out was absolutely ridiculous, and not in a good way. The Marquee is usually ALWAYS filled up, and that night, it wasn't. It's a total bummer to think that the proceeds go to a good cause, and not many people went out to the show.
The best sets of the night were Breathe Carolina and Cute Is What We Aim For, hands down.
Meg & Dia may have been the most awkward and painfully slow sets I've ever been to-- the crowd was absolutely dead and still, and no one was doing a thing. It would not have been fun to be on stage at that moment, and I felt really bad that no one got into them.
Anarbor are from here, but I only caught their last song, so I can't say much to their set. Every Avenue was great as always, though Dave seemed a lot less enthusiastic from the last time I saw him, at the Compromising tour last Autumn. I figured it was because of how the crowd was hardly moving, because a majority of the time, stage presence correlates to how the crowd reacts..
It was a pretty good show, all in all, though. I expected it to be a lot better, with the whole place filled, but it wasn't a waste of a night or anything of the sort.

I just want to say that Meg & Dia drew so many Asian MEN to the San Francisco show. I mean, I was one of them, but I'm practically white, so...

Are you sure? I'm confused as to why "Where The Wild Things Are (Monsters)" isn't being played. But I'm glad they're doing two of the new songs. Was the band any good live, though? Anarbor is the only reason I'm going to this tour.
I realize I'm answering so late. I haven't had internet access.
You probably went to a Florida date.
But at the Boston date my friends asked for the guys to play Monsters for them. They were going to do it acoustic after the show until the guys were drunk and my friends didn't want to make them sing it drunk.
I hope on the forgive durden tour that they play monsters.
