(New York, NY) - Yellowcard (www.yellowcardrock.com) has been confirmed to perform at the 2005 MTV Movie Awards as part of a special 20th anniversary tribute to classic 80s film The Breakfast Club.
The band will perform the film's theme song, "Don't You (Forget About Me)," originally recorded by Simple Minds. The tribute marks the first time in the history of the MTV Movie Awards that a single film has been so honored. The entire original cast has been invited to reunite during the broadcast.
The show will feature only four musical performances: Yellowcard, Eminem, Mariah Carey and Foo Fighters.
The 2005 MTV Movie Awards, hosted by Jimmy Fallon, is set to air June 9th at 8:30 pm EST/PST.
Yellowcard is currently in Los Angeles with producer Neal Avron recording the follow-up to 2003's double-platinum smash album Ocean Avenue.

I really cannot wait to see them all together. This is one of my favorite movies ever! No really lol. Hopefully they have some clip planned with them acting, that would be awesome.

yc's live show is anything but bad, sure ryan's vocals aren't perfect, but let's be honest here, they rock your socks with their show

Yeah, sure they move around well, and work the crowd, but sound like utter crap.

i agree that there are bands out there that sound A LOT better vocally live, but i'll be the first one to admit that i have fun at yc shows

Unless you're in the Bouncing Souls, you should not be covering 80's songs...

Eh, I think they're great live .. one of the top 10 live shows I've ever seen.
Plus, I've sat in a room with Pete and Ryan with a piano as they've sung ... those dude's vox are as real as they come.
Unless you're in the Bouncing Souls, you should not be covering 80's songs...
You really never have ANYTHING positive to say ... ever. It's fucking annoying man.

How can you be a face to face fan and say that? They put out a whole album of covers and 5 of them were from the 80's:
What Difference Does It Make? (1984)
Don't Change (1985)
KKK Took My Baby Away (1981)
Heaven(1988)
That's Entertainment (1983)
and they also had a cover of In Between Days (1985) on "Before You Were Punk".

I liked Rufio's cover of "Don't You Forget About Me" from Punk Goes 80's. Anybody agree?

Yellowcard are total shit, but i'll be watching it for the Breakfast Club reunion and the Foo Fighters. it's a total shame Nine Inch Nails pulled out.

Shit, touche...I stand corrected on this, I guess when I think of 80's songs, I think of stuff like the Simple Minds cover
those dude's vox are as real as they come.
hahahaha, i can't be the only one to find this pretty incredible

Pachuca Sunrise is fucking beautiful...It paints such a picture, in some weird ways, it reminds me of something off of Incubus' Morning View
and Memphis and 53rd is a JAM
I don't like the sound of the guitars, the production is pretty terrible, and I think the lyrics are a little lame (and not in the good way, like I am the Movie)
But I still love these guys, these...
Despite a few cringeworthy moments (the "whoaaaaaaaaaa" in Sadie especially), I am still in love with this album...
I remember when I saw ETID in Edgerton at the old Club Raven with Thursday and Murder by Death...maybe like 200 kids there, tops
Still my favorite show ever
amazing show, seriously...i have some great pictures from that show too if you want
Rilo Kiley is opening for the whole tour
I just saw them the night before last in Chicago, and they were amazing
It's the cutest infestation ever!
Hi Jason!
Ryan's voice admittedly sounds thin when they play acoustic and he'll struggle to hit a few notes...that said, full band live they are AMAZING...easily one of the best live bands I've seen and with the full band Ryan sounds very good... Whether you like YC or not you should judge a band's live performance by how the crowd reacts and 99% of the crowd flips out during their set...truly a great live band.
