"Heard that sound .." its actually doing REALLY well on KROQ and a lot of majors turned their heads around at the band again.

The first single is "Heard that Sound" they made a video for it but i'm not sure when it'll be aired, i guess they're just planning ahead.

I love MxPx, I love Mark Hoppus and I love this song. Good choice for a single, although I was guessing they would go with The Darkest Places

This album is better than their last few but its hard to even make it all the way through this album.

It doesn't seem like an MxPx single. Don't get me wrong, it's a great song (probably my favorite on the album, and background vocals from Mark is just awesome) but it's definitely not the upbeat sound they're known for.

shame on you MXPX...what would Jesus do? I know Jesus wouldn't trash a hotel-room, I wonder if they trash everything but the bible.

i loe that song, but i don't think it should be the new single, especially in the summer, they should go for something more upbeat. then again, i really really love that song.

I think Late Again is good, but it sounds like a Bad Religion ripoff. Not in a bad way, though. But I like Wrecking Hotel Rooms as a single.

Shut up. MxPx is more influential than you even realize. And yes, I care. It's not one of my favorites on the record, but it will make a good single.

it sounds like a Rancid rip off to me... i swear that's Matt Freeman and Lars playing at the beginning of the song.

Few things.
It's awesome that this album, released on an indie, is probably gonna do better than the last two MxPx albmus on a major. They're already talking a second single before the album's already out. Good for them.
Also, does anybody else kind of hear Mark reprising his "All The Small Things" back up harmonies on this chorus? Listen, it's there.

Gad_guy...if you are quoting Sith in your sig it's actually "So this is how liberty dies, with thunderous applause" just so you know.

maybe they are influential, but that doesn't men anybody gives a crap about them anymore. listen to some of thier music, without thinking about how they used to be. it sucks. read these lyrics. a new band could not get away with writing lyrics this terrible.
1 2 3 Go!
Sleep at the wheel, forty miles left to go
Rollin' in on fumes to rock the show
We don't need fortune and we don't need fame
We don't need bright lights to spell our names
All we ever wanted was to play
Play it loud, play it loud
Raise your voice, shout it out
We weren't the first but we're holding our own
Ten long years of choruses were sung
A song and your heart picks you up when your down
Like the songs we play we love this sound
We're just like you, straight from the crowd
Play it loud, play it loud
Raise your voice, shout it out
Play it loud, play it loud
Raise your voice, shout it out
Hold fast to your friends
Be true to yourself
And stop trying to be just like somebody else
Be yourself
Play it loud
Raise your voice
Shout it out
Play it loud, play it loud
Raise your voice, shout it out
Play it loud, play it loud
Play it loud
the point is, maybe they mattered 10 years ago, but now they are just a sub-par pop-punk band. and i, nor most of the american public, cares. stop hearing what you want to hear and hear what is actually there, it's not good music.

It is good music. It's not outstanding music, but they still produce great pop-punk stuff. Before Everything and After was not a great CD. I enjoyed it, but Panic is so much better. It's a trip back to their old style, and it's awesome. And if you're going to pull random lyrics to prove your point, go ahead. It's true MxPx has gone downhill lyrically, just about every band does after 12 years. Of course MxPx is cheesy sometimes. They have been for the last 5 years as they've gone more pop oriented.
I thought you'd understand what subjective opinion meant as far as music went as well. You don't know how many people care, and how many don't - read this thread, people obviously care. MxPx is the entire reason I listen to music today. Life in General is in my opinion, the greatest album ever written - for me. So I hold them in a soft spot in my heart. You don't, that's fine, but even if I wasn't an mxpx fan from day 1 I'd still think Panic was a solid album.

Life In General was my gateway album to everything I listen to now. Without MxPx, I'd still be listening to dc talk.

You're both ignorant and wrong for this remark.

I do listen to their music and I enjoy it. The lyrics aren't as deep as Brand New, as clever/popular as Fall Out Boy, or as emotion-filled as [insert trendy emo/hardcore band here], but they are the true definition of "pop punk": fun, rock-driven, and catchy. Why look for something that you know isn't going to be there? As if "Chick Magnet" or "Punk Rawk Show" had amazing lyrics.

If that's your point, then your point misses the mark. And while you can surely speak for yourself, don't speak for the "American public." You sound like an asshole politician when you do.
By the way, picking out lyrics to one song and saying "LOOK EVERYBODY" is not going to erase the dozen albums, the dozens of songs, or the thousands of fans of MxPx. Just thought I'd let you know.
