Just watched the trailer. Cage doesn't look right for the role, but the idea of the film interests me. I'm keeping my eyes on this one.

Teaser.
This is the new movie from Director Alex Proyas, of The Crow and Dark City fame, two modern classics.
This will likely turn into another piece of shit like his recent, I Robot, but the hope is still there that he can repeat his 90's successes.

I'm vouching for it. It's a lot better than anyone's expecting. I got to interview Proyas and Rose Byrne today. Both were supremely awesome in person.

I only saw one trailer (that obviously marketed towards Nic Cage's National Treasure crowd) and only saw the final 20-30 minutes of the movie (which was obviously incredibly science fiction-y with hell of aliens and flying objects and stuff). How many common moviegoers are going to be pissed when they leave the theaters upon seeing this?

I found this movie to be incredibly sad.I didn't walk into it expecting to come out very depressed. The part where they took Nicholas Cage's son away from him was so heartbreaking. And I found it hard to watch the parts with the plane crash and the animals on fire. Not a terrible movie, but I should've seen I Love You, Man.
On a lighter note, that preview for Sorority Row was awesome.I think the whole theater gasped when he stabbed her with that 4-way wrench.

This movie really disappointed me. It had a cool premise and the potential for some really great twist, but I feel like I caught most of them very early on and that they were too obvious. However, the fact that "EE" stood for Everyone Else really caught me off guard and I thought it was a great little twist. The ending was the worst, most drawn out ending to a movie of 2009 so far. So corny.

Totally agree, this was the highlight of my $7.50. This is going to be the most unintentionally hilarious horror movie ever, it has a real I Know What You Did Last Summer vibe to it.
Ebert gave this movie 4 stars, saying it was one of the best thrillers he has ever seen.

the last 20 or so minutes made no sense. it was like they decided that they had to end the movie so they decided to make it was random as possible. i didnt get how every number on the list was the date, how many people died, and the latitude and longitude of exactly where it the disaster happens but the last date is EXACTLY where you should go. that didnt make sense to me. also didnt get how they whisper alien angel things possessed the little kids and made them write out the list still their fingers bled but in the end lets give away the kids to the guys that have been stalking us the entire movie this movie was so bad

really what's the difference? all of them are thriller/action films the only difference is his action work from the '90's was decent whereas everything he's touched since 2000 has been a joke.
this looks way bad.
I don't know. I used to be into every Cage movie out there, but recently he has been doing some fucking gay movies

hmm I didn't think it was terrible but not great either. Just saw it last night. The special effects/catastrophes were really good. The alien thing took me by surprise coming into the movie though. I mean you realize it like 30 min into the movie but before you even see it there's no real clue. I thought it was an interesting take on aliens and I thought the whole starting a new world thing was pretty cool but the whole plot of the movie didn't make a whole lot of sense and that's what bothered me most. I mean these aliens look ridiculously powerful, why in the heck go through the trouble of having a child write down the numbers and have someone figure it out 50 years later. If the aliens really wanted the chosen ones (the two children) they really didn't need John to deliver the kids to them. They could have just taken them before the solar flare. I know I know, it makes a movie, but there's no way the aliens would have done it that way.

Most likely many people. I ;m sure bad word of mouth will spread and it will bomb next week
strangely, all three showings before my 9:50 showing last night (Saturday) were sold out and mine was pretty packed. And my theater isn't small either.

I did the exact same thing. I usually do it for shitty movies that I have a tiny bit of interest in to see if I want to see it. Last movie I did it for was the Happening and I'm so glad I didn't pay for it.
Ha. Same here. I usually end up reading about stupid actions movies like this one or bad horror films which I would never otherwise see, but for some reason I'm morbidly curious about. I wish I had done that for The Happening, but then I also knew it was going to be bad going into it so I went more for the laughs (plus it only cost me $3.00).

I feel sort of the same way about this... One thing that confused me was the fact that near the end Caleb writes down another set of numbers... Why would he write down that set of numbers? At this point we know the earth will be destroyed... What could those numbers have possibly meant? There was no point in putting that in and just confused.
I can't figure out if it was being pro or anti religious though...
But here's something I really noticedWhy did they go through the whole trouble of predicting when it was already pre determined who would survive in the end? It was like, here's a map and stuff. Figure it out, but in the end none of that will make a difference to the outcome. The end outcome had already been decided, nothing could change that. So why was everything else necessary?
If nothing else, it got me thinking haaha.

that was my main gripe.
And yeah I didn't even really think about those last numbers, but I bet anything they're for the next world that the kids get placed on or something. Although you'd think it got burned up with everything else

i know this is a huge late pass, but this movie was so bad it was funny. halfway entertaining for most of it, but mostly laughable. sooooo many things that don't make sense with this movie (mostly common sense things). And the end looked like it was trying to be a Close Encounters of the Thrid Kind rip off. pretty bad, and really retarded.
